Chapters 101–125 Vol. 2 Read

Ch. 101Another Ruler

Mukuro Hoshimiya refused Jeanne d'Arc's demand to abandon her wish for a real body and effortlessly nullified Jeanne's Command Spell. Following Revelation, Jeanne traveled with Achilles to meet the Red Faction's Master and discovered that Amakusa Shirou Tokisada was a Ruler who had already obtained a physical body.

  • Mukuro Hoshimiya told Jeanne d'Arc she wished to obtain a real body and remain in the present era, but refused to give up that wish when Jeanne warned her against it.
  • Jeanne used a Command Spell to try to compel Mukuro, but Mukuro's miniature Michael and Segva blocked it, consuming the spell without effect.
  • Jeanne left the Black Faction's headquarters and encountered Achilles, who invited her to speak with the Red Faction's Master.
  • Jeanne followed Revelation's signal and rode Achilles's chariot to the Red Faction's base in an abandoned monastery.
  • Jeanne's True Name Discernment identified Amakusa Shirou Tokisada as a Ruler, revealing that he was a Heroic Spirit who had obtained a real body.

Ch. 102Michael

Jeanne d'Arc concluded that Mukuro Hoshimiya might be an angel or closely connected to Michael and agreed to help Amakusa Shirou Tokisada subjugate her. Meanwhile, the Black Faction found the Red Faction's hidden base and sent Siegfried and Astolfo to attack it, leaving Siegfried beginning his Noble Phantasm release.

  • Amakusa Shirou Tokisada told Jeanne d'Arc that the Black Faction's Archer had named her Noble Phantasm Michael, and Jeanne's Revelation confirmed he was telling the truth.
  • Jeanne d'Arc inferred that Mukuro might be an angel or connected to Michael, then agreed to help the Red Faction subjugate her and refused to intervene in other disputes.
  • Mukuro Hoshimiya wondered who might be plotting against her, reflected on her past, and stayed resting in her room after Caules relayed Darnic's order to stand by.
  • Black Faction homunculi discovered an abandoned monastery northwest of Trifas, and further searches confirmed that multiple Servants were inside.
  • Darnic ordered Siegfried and Astolfo to probe the Red Faction's base, with the other Servants ready to join after the enemy revealed its positions.
  • Siegfried and Astolfo reached the monastery, and Siegfried began releasing Balmung's Noble Phantasm.

Ch. 103Siegfried, in peril!

Siegfried was trapped in Achilles’s isolated dueling barrier while Karna held off Astolfo until Heracles arrived to fight him. At Millennia Fortress, Gordes failed to recall Siegfried with a Command Spell, while Darnic watched the battle unfold and left Siegfried’s survival to chance.

  • Siegfried recognized the monastery as a trap, but Achilles and Karna appeared and Achilles drew Siegfried into his one-on-one barrier, stripping away his external enhancements.
  • Achilles challenged Siegfried to a fair duel, while Karna remained outside and Astolfo fled from the battlefield on his Hippogriff.
  • Darnic ordered Heracles to support Astolfo, and Heracles arrived to clash with Karna in a battle neither could easily win.
  • Gordes used a Command Spell to summon Siegfried back, but the order failed and the Spell was consumed.
  • Darnic privately revealed that weakening the Black Faction’s Masters was a secondary objective and decided Siegfried’s survival depended on his own luck.

Ch. 104The Fog Descends

Assassin Jack the Ripper infiltrated Millennia Fortress with poisonous fog, but Mukuro Hoshimiya stopped the fog and trapped Jack in an isolated space. Meanwhile, Avicebron abandoned his attempt to use Sieg as the core for the Crown of Wisdom and chose a backup plan; Jack’s curse then struck at Mukuro Hoshimiya.

  • Jack the Ripper’s poisonous fog spread through Millennia Fortress and killed two patrolling homunculi.
  • Darnic recognized the attack as the work of the missing Assassin, and Mukuro Hoshimiya used Michael to stop and clear the fog.
  • Avicebron and Roche went to Sieg’s room, but Avicebron could not reach him through Heracles’s Nemean Lion’s Pelt and decided to use a backup plan.
  • Jack the Ripper attacked a homunculus in the east wing, but Mukuro Hoshimiya sealed Jack inside an isolated space.
  • Jack the Ripper unleashed Maria the Ripper at Mukuro Hoshimiya, and the curse struck the surface of her Astral Dress.

Ch. 105Siegfried's Exit

Mukuro Hoshimiya stopped Jack the Ripper from escaping, but released her when Caules reported Avicebron’s betrayal and the attack on Millennia Fortress. Elsewhere, Siegfried died fighting Achilles, while Karna, Achilles, Atalanta, and Semiramis worked together to strip two of Heracles’s lives.

  • Mukuro Hoshimiya nullified Jack’s attack and began shrinking the sealed space to bring her within Michael’s range.
  • Caules warned Mukuro Hoshimiya that Avicebron had betrayed the Black Faction and was using the Crown of Wisdom to break Millennia Fortress’s barrier, so she released Jack and went to confront him.

  • Achilles defeated Siegfried in the dueling field, and Siegfried dissolved into light after apologizing to his Master.
  • Karna, Achilles, Atalanta, and Semiramis attacked Heracles together, and Hydra venom followed by Karna’s flames cost Heracles two lives.

Ch. 106Besieging Heracles

The Red Faction's attacks killed Heracles five times, but he continued to revive and grew more resistant to their methods. After Heracles nearly killed Achilles, Amakusa Shirou withdrew Atalanta and Semiramis, leaving Karna alone to gamble on defeating Heracles with his Anti-Divine Noble Phantasm.

  • Karna and Semiramis killed Heracles three more times with his sun-powered attacks and Hydra venom, bringing his confirmed deaths to five.
  • Heracles used Nine Lives, gravely injuring Achilles and forcing Amakusa Shirou to spend a Command Spell to withdraw him.
  • Amakusa Shirou concluded that Karna was the Red Faction's only remaining way to kill Heracles and ordered Atalanta and Semiramis to retreat.
  • Atalanta and Semiramis left the battlefield, while Astolfo watched from above and Karna faced Heracles alone.

Ch. 107O sun, submit to death vs. Nine Lives

Karna unleashed O sun, submit to death against Heracles, who survived by spending six lives and restored himself with a Golden Apple. Amakusa Shirou withdrew Karna with a Command Spell, while Mukuro Hoshimiya transported the earth giant away from Millennia Fortress.

  • Karna abandoned his Shemesh Armor and fired O sun, submit to death at Heracles.
  • Heracles answered with Nine Lives, but Karna’s beam overwhelmed the arrows and destroyed six of Heracles’s lives.
  • Heracles ate a Golden Apple, healed his body, and restored God Hand’s remaining lives to eleven.
  • Amakusa Shirou used a Command Spell to order Karna to withdraw before Heracles could attack him.
  • Mukuro Hoshimiya used Michael to transport the earth giant to a distant plain and appeared before it.

Ch. 108Dealing with Caster of Black

  • Mukuro opened a spatial gate to the sun, sending Avicebron's giant golem and Roche into it, then killed Avicebron after he recognized her as Tiferet, the Sephirah guarded by Michael.
  • At the Black Faction's review meeting, Darnic listed their losses and the Red Faction's capabilities, then asserted that his faction still held the advantage through Heracles and Mukuro.
  • Amakusa Shirou used a Command Spell to heal Achilles and another to restore Karna's Shemesh Armor.
  • Amakusa considered the remaining threats and asked Semiramis about preparations for a large-scale battle; she said her poison reserves might not overcome Heracles's resistance.

Ch. 109Time to unwind

Mukuro Hoshimiya went into Trifas to find better food and unexpectedly met Atalanta and Achilles at a restaurant. She shared a meal with them and gave Achilles her name, but kept her origins secret.

  • Mukuro Hoshimiya enjoyed the restaurant’s soup, meat rolls, and pancakes while talking with Achilles.
  • Mukuro Hoshimiya told Achilles her name and said her Noble Phantasm was not Michael, but refused to explain her background.

Ch. 110Talking About Wishes

Achilles, Mukuro Hoshimiya, and Atalanta discussed their wishes for the Holy Grail, and Mukuro revealed that the Grail War’s promise of granting wishes was bait for Servants. Atalanta realized her wish to bring happiness to all children could not be fulfilled, leaving her shaken and without her reason to fight.

  • Achilles said he wanted to fight the strongest warriors fairly and did not need the Holy Grail to grant him a wish.
  • Mukuro Hoshimiya said she wanted a real body so she could remain in the world and experience life.
  • Atalanta wished for happiness for all the children in the world, but Mukuro Hoshimiya told her the Holy Grail lacked the power to grant such a broad, conceptual wish.
  • Mukuro Hoshimiya explained that mages used the Holy Grail War to pursue the Root and that the Servants’ wishes were bait to draw them into the conflict.
  • Atalanta remembered her own abandonment as a child and the suffering of other children, then fell silent as she realized the Grail could not fulfill her wish.

Ch. 111Mukuro Hoshimiya's Little Scheme

Mukuro Hoshimiya strolled through Trifas, shared snacks with people at Millennia Fortress, and reviewed the Great Holy Grail War’s remaining Servants. She planned to enter the Greater Grail as soon as it could be activated, though she considered granting other Servants physical bodies too, and ended the chapter by going to sleep.

  • Mukuro Hoshimiya considered helping other Servants obtain physical bodies, then went to sleep.

Ch. 112A feint in the east, a strike in the west

Darnic sent Heracles and Mukuro Hoshimiya to meet the Red Faction's attacking Servants while Astolfo guarded the Millennia Fortress. The battle drew the fortress's defenders away as Amakusa Shirou Tokisada and Semiramis approached from the southwest, intending to steal the Greater Grail.

  • Darnic detected three approaching Servants and learned from Astolfo that Karna, Achilles, and Atalanta were advancing on the fortress.
  • Darnic enhanced Heracles with Mukuro Hoshimiya's Shifuru and sent him to fight Karna and Achilles, while Mukuro went to confront Atalanta.

  • Astolfo remained as the fortress's only Servant while Darnic, Fiore, and Caules monitored the battle.
  • Amakusa Shirou Tokisada and Semiramis approached the fortress from a southwestern blind spot, revealing that their real target was the Greater Grail.

Ch. 113Poisoning the Leader

Amakusa Shirou began infiltrating the Greater Grail System while Semiramis protected him and secretly poisoned Darnic with demonic beasts. Aboveground, the boosted Heracles drove Karna and Achilles onto the defensive as Amakusa continued rewriting the system.

  • Amakusa Shirou chose to infiltrate the Greater Grail rather than move it, and used his universal Magecraft keys to begin accessing its system.
  • The Greater Grail supplied Karna and Achilles with increased magical energy, but Heracles resisted Karna’s Noble Phantasm and countered with repeated Nine Lives attacks.
  • Darnic used a Command Spell to strengthen Heracles further, forcing Karna and Achilles entirely onto the defensive.
  • While Amakusa Shirou worked beneath the fortress, Semiramis sent poisonous demonic beasts into the central hall to attack Darnic.
  • Darnic was poisoned and collapsed despite Caules and Fiore trying to help him, while Semiramis asked Amakusa Shirou how much longer he needed to finish infiltrating the Greater Grail System.

Ch. 114Three Demigods' Assault

After Darnic's death severed Heracles' contract, Jeanne d'Arc used a Command Spell to force him to attack Mukuro Hoshimiya. Karna and Achilles joined the assault, leaving Mukuro surrounded by three demigod Servants as she tried to defend herself.

  • Darnic died, weakening Heracles as his contract and Command Spell enhancement vanished, while Fiore began transferring his Command Spells remotely.
  • Jeanne d'Arc realized the Red Faction had targeted the fortress and used a Command Spell to order Heracles to eliminate Mukuro Hoshimiya.
  • Heracles resisted the command but charged Mukuro, and Karna and Achilles turned to join the attack.
  • Mukuro blocked Heracles' strike, dodged Karna, and was struck by Achilles, though her Astral Dress held.
  • Jeanne declared Mukuro an anomaly that she had to eliminate, while Heracles attacked again and Mukuro dispelled his Shifuru enhancement.

Ch. 115Astolfo: Ehehe☆

Astolfo confronted Amakusa Shirou Tokisada and Semiramis in the Millennia Fortress’s underground chamber and used his Noble Phantasms to stop Amakusa from infiltrating the Greater Grail. The chapter left Astolfo facing the two Red Faction Servants after Amakusa suffered magical backlash.

  • Astolfo taunted the shocked Amakusa as Semiramis faced him in the chamber.

Ch. 116[Shifuru] form

Mukuro Hoshimiya used Shifuru to transform and gain the speed and strength to fight Heracles, Karna, and Achilles on more equal terms, while her halberd disintegrated anything it touched. Unable to land attacks on the three experienced heroes, she turned on Jeanne d'Arc, who used a Command Spell to order Heracles to unleash his strongest Noble Phantasm against Mukuro.

  • Heracles, Karna, and Achilles drove Mukuro Hoshimiya to the edge of the battlefield and struck her, pushing her anger past its limit.
  • Mukuro Hoshimiya used Shifuru on herself, changing her Astral Dress and Michael into a combat form and halberd while raising her parameters.
  • Mukuro Hoshimiya attacked Heracles, Karna, and Achilles with the disintegrating halberd, but their battle instincts let them evade or deflect her blows.
  • Mukuro Hoshimiya targeted Jeanne d'Arc, overpowered her defenses, and inflicted an irreparable wound on her shoulder.
  • Jeanne d'Arc used a Command Spell to order Heracles to attack Mukuro Hoshimiya with his strongest Noble Phantasm, and Heracles's axe-sword vanished from his hand.

Ch. 117The Golden Sword

Ch. 121Restoring memories

Ritsuka Fujimaru, Mash, and Merlin explored the dream version of Trifas and found Atalanta working at a kindergarten with no memory of how she arrived. Merlin restored Atalanta’s memories, and she identified the dream’s creator as the demon doll born from Mukuro Hoshimiya’s shadow.

  • Ritsuka Fujimaru, Mash, and Merlin explored the unnaturally perfect dream version of Trifas to search for its creator.
  • Merlin sensed a Servant at a kindergarten, where Atalanta was caring for the children.

Ch. 123The truth behind the anomaly

Merlin freed Karna and Heracles from Belphegor’s nightmare loop, but the group had to retreat when they could not damage the phantom. Metatron explained that Mukuro Hoshimiya was the sephirah Tiphereth and warned that they must reach Mukuro at the dream’s core before the real Belphegor awakens, or both the dream and real worlds will be destroyed.

  • Merlin reached into the nightmare loop and restored Karna’s and Heracles’s memories, allowing them to escape.
  • Karna and Heracles joined Mash and Metatron in fighting Belphegor’s phantom, but its home-ground regeneration made it impossible to defeat.
  • Ritsuka Fujimaru ordered everyone to retreat, and Merlin opened a rift that let them escape to the surface dream.
  • Metatron recognized Ritsuka, Mash, and Merlin, then revealed that Mukuro Hoshimiya was Tiphereth, the sephirah [Beauty], protected by Michael’s angelic authority.

  • Metatron said the group must reach Mukuro at the dream’s core before the real Belphegor awakens, warning that its full Rage Mode would destroy both the dream and the real world.

Ch. 124Pinpointing the location

Metatron explained Belphegor’s threat as Merlin searched the dream world for Mukuro Hoshimiya, whose body drifted unconscious in space. Merlin located Mukuro through her Master Caules’s Command Spells, transferred them to Ritsuka Fujimaru, and revealed that Mukuro was hidden in the dream’s deepest layer, which they could not reach directly.

  • Metatron showed that Mukuro Hoshimiya’s body was drifting unconscious through space and said her mind was likely inside the dream world.
  • Merlin left to search for Mukuro while Metatron explained that an awakened Belphegor could permanently tear apart real-world space.

Ch. 125Salvation squad, assemble

Ritsuka Fujimaru’s group gathered allies for a dangerous journey through the nightmare layer to reach Mukuro Hoshimiya in the dream’s deepest level. Astolfo, Amakusa Shirou Tokisada, and Semiramis agreed to help, while Reika Rikudou refused to let Jack join; Atalanta decided to go so the children could wake up in the real world.

  • Merlin explained that the group had to pass through the nightmare layer and perform a ritual to break into the deepest layer, where the Belphegor phantom would attack with greater force.
  • Ritsuka Fujimaru’s group found Astolfo enjoying free crepes in Trifas, and he eagerly agreed to help because Mukuro had shared snacks with him.
  • Amakusa Shirou Tokisada recognized the dream and agreed to help after Ritsuka explained that sustaining it was draining the real world; Semiramis joined him.
