Background / History
Pursuit of Godhood
Tang Chen was remembered by Bo Saixi as the most talented person of their generation. Neither she nor Qian Daoliu dared to confront his Clear Sky Hammer head-on. Before leaving, he promised Bo Saixi that he would not return until he became a god 139.
He pursued the Asura God King's inheritance and completed its eighth trial, obtaining the Asura Demonic Sword. However, he failed to complete the inheritance. According to Yan Buhui's later account to Bo Saixi, the Rakshasa God clouded his mind, and he became the King of Slaughter 133 139.
Rule over Slaughter City
Tang Chen's arrival displaced the cavalry captain, who had previously been Slaughter City's strongest fighter and believed the kingship should have been his. With the Asura Demonic Sword and the Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King's power, Tang Chen ruled as a tyrant and commanded the city's resources and forces. The cavalry captain remained his second-in-command despite resenting his authority 130.
Under his rule, Evil Soul Masters fought for the opportunity to inherit Divine Slaughter's Domain. Yan Buhui condemned this arrangement as a pretext: few could obtain the inheritance, while dependence on Yellow Springs Dew increasingly controlled the participants 131.
Defeat and Death
After defeating the cavalry captain, Yan Buhui demanded an audience with Tang Chen and announced his intention to turn Slaughter City into Fire City. Tang Chen answered with Asura Sword Qi, only to see Yan Buhui catch it barehanded. Forced back by Phoenix Ultimate Flame, he activated Divine Slaughter's Domain inside the ring of fire surrounding their duel 131.
Yan Buhui's flames blasted away the domain and blocked Tang Chen's sword attacks. Tang Chen committed his remaining strength to Asura-Heavenly Demon Slash, but Yan Buhui broke it with a single punch. Gravely burned and outmatched, Tang Chen conceded the throne 132 133.
Yan Buhui then revealed that the Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King was parasitizing him—something Tang Chen had not known. Although Tang Chen initially resisted the announcement that he would be killed, he ultimately chose death over continued control by the parasite and Yellow Springs Dew. He faced Yan Buhui without fear and was beheaded with the Heavenly Flames Eternal Ancient Sword 133.
Aftermath
Tang Chen's death shocked both Yan Buhui's companions and Slaughter City's Evil Soul Masters. Yan Buhui appointed Beast God Di Tian as the new King of Slaughter 134.
On Sea God Island, Yan Buhui informed Bo Saixi of Tang Chen's fate and presented the Asura Demonic Sword as evidence. She struggled to accept the loss of the man she regarded as the most important person in her life 139.
Personality
Tang Chen initially treats Yan Buhui with arrogance, trusting his own strength and the Asura Demonic Sword. Nevertheless, he regains his composure after his first attack fails and openly acknowledges that his challenger is stronger than expected 131.
His pride survives his defeat, but does not prevent him from conceding the throne. After learning of his parasitic control, he chooses release rather than continued subjugation. He insists on facing the killing blow directly, declaring that a strike from behind would disgrace the King of Slaughter 133.
