Background / History
Skywater Academy and the Rescue Expedition
Shui Bing'er is Skywater Academy's team captain and one of its most promising students. Her mother, Dean Shui Wei'er, regards her and Shui Yue'er as potential successors and the academy's best prospects for producing Titled Douluo. Alongside Feng Xiaotian, Huo Wushuang, and Yu Tianxin, she possesses enough talent and prestige to help rally the Four Elements Academy's expedition to rescue Huo Wu 12 13.
She initially approaches Yan Buhui cautiously, considering whether her Ice Phoenix Martial Soul might suppress his Evil Fire Phoenix. During the confrontation, she contributes Soul Power to the deans' Wind, Thunder, Water and Fire Array. Yan Buhui survives its attack and restrains the expedition with his Phoenix Heart-Devouring Chain 10 11.
Captivity on Phoenix Emperor Mountain
When Yan Buhui demands all seven Skywater women in exchange for sparing the expedition, Shui Bing'er is the first to agree, insisting that he release everyone else. Her teammates initially object, but ultimately accept the same condition. Yan Buhui releases the remaining captives and keeps the seven women 12 13.
Shui Bing'er refuses to accept being treated as his wife or possession, explicitly asserting her personhood. Nevertheless, she remains confined to his territory, receives his flame markings, and is compelled into his household. After he spends the night with the seven women, she continues challenging his conduct and questioning his promises of cultivation advancement 14 18 19.
Pregnancy and Cultivation Benefits
Although suspicious of Yan Buhui, Shui Bing'er is tempted by his promise to help the women become Titled Douluo or gods. She objects when he makes those promises conditional on bearing his children. She later confirms that his flame and phoenix essence blood have genuinely improved her cultivation, without accepting his claim that this justifies his treatment of them 16 19.
She develops morning sickness alongside her teammates, and her pregnancy is confirmed. Yan Buhui gives the women fire lotus seeds and places them under the protection of his four guardian Soul Beast lords while he travels to the Star Dou Great Forest. Shui Bing'er privately compares her circumstances to those of a caged creature unable to escape 23 25 26.
Return to Skywater Academy
When Yan Buhui returns with Yao Zi and Mu Yunteng, Shui Bing'er asks after her mother and is relieved to learn that she is well. She subsequently requests permission to visit Skywater Academy, and Yan Buhui agrees to escort the women home 39 41 43.
At the academy, she tearfully reunites with Shui Wei'er and reassures her that Yan Buhui will not harm them. Before leaving again, she and Shui Yue'er ask their mother not to worry and express hope that they will achieve greater things. During the return journey, she rides on Yan Buhui's phoenix back and admires the sunset 45 47 48.
Life in the Expanding Household
Before Yan Buhui's next expedition to the Star Dou Great Forest, Shui Bing'er warns him that the Three-Eyed Golden Lion is normally protected by extremely powerful Soul Beasts. Addressing him as her husband, she asks whether he is certain about undertaking such a dangerous mission. He nevertheless departs after entrusting the pregnant women with caring for themselves 51.
She recognizes his phoenix cry when he returns with Wang Qiu'er and additional Soul Beast warriors. Despite her increasingly prominent pregnancy, she offers to massage his aching lower back and personally tends to him 59.
Wang Qiu'er's arrival initially produces friction. Shui Bing'er trades barbs with her and says that, were she not heavily pregnant, she would give her a proper greeting. Yan Buhui intervenes to calm her, and she agrees to let the matter pass for his sake 61.
When Yan Buhui later brings Bibi Dong, Hu Liena, Zhu Zhuyun, Zhu Zhuxue, and Xue Yingzi to Phoenix Emperor Mountain, Shui Bing'er is astonished that he has managed to bring even the current Pope into his household. Shui Yue'er counsels her against dwelling on his expanding collection of wives, and Bing'er responds with a gentle smile at her sister's comparatively accepting attitude. The household agrees to the addition of more caves to accommodate its growing membership 98.
Childbirth and Motherhood
Shui Bing'er goes into labor around the same time as Huo Wu, Shui Yue'er, and the other Skywater women. Yao Zi informs Yan Buhui that all seven Skywater women are about to give birth, while Bibi Dong agrees to assist the midwife 101.
Yan Buhui holds Shui Bing'er's hand and encourages her during delivery. She gives birth to twin daughters, whom he identifies as Ice Fire Phoenix twins. Shui Yue'er delivers twin sons shortly afterward 102.
Following the births of thirteen children across the household, Yan Buhui orders thirteen days of celebration and rest throughout the Land of Extreme Flame and prohibits hunting during that period 104.
Her daughters are among Yan Buhui's children whose bloodlines subsequently improve when his own bloodline advances to the Great Sun Golden Crow. Thirteen of his children receive an increase to a cultivation age of one hundred thousand years; this development concerns the children rather than a stated advancement in Shui Bing'er's own cultivation 129.
Appearance
- Hair: Aqua-blue 12.
- Complexion: Fair, with skin compared to snow 12 23.
- Features: Delicate facial features and a well-proportioned figure 12.
- Clothing: Described wearing black stockings alongside the other Skywater beauties 13.
- Pregnancy: Her abdomen has begun to swell slightly by Yan Buhui's return from the Star Dou Great Forest. Later, her belly is described as large and protruding, before she gives birth to twin daughters 39 59 102.
- Bearing: Wang Qiu'er regards her as an icy beauty upon meeting her 61.
Personality
Shui Bing'er is protective of both her sister and her teammates. She immediately confronts Yan Buhui when he humiliates Shui Yue'er, but listens when the others urge her not to be provoked. Her decision to remain behind in exchange for the expedition's lives reflects her willingness to put the larger group's survival before her own freedom 11 12 13.
She places particular importance on dignity and respect. Even after her surrender, she rejects being treated as a toy and repeatedly challenges Yan Buhui's attempts to portray his demands as benevolence. She remains capable of acknowledging tangible cultivation benefits while criticizing the conditions attached to them 14 16 19.
Her attachment to her mother and academy remains strong throughout captivity. News of Shui Wei'er's well-being lifts her spirits, and permission to return home makes her visibly excited. Her later cooperation with Yan Buhui occurs alongside continued awareness of his overwhelming power and her limited freedom 26 39 42 43.
Her later behavior toward Yan Buhui becomes more openly caring: she voices concern about the danger of capturing the Three-Eyed Golden Lion and offers to relieve his back pain after his return. This increasing familiarity does not eliminate her temper, as shown by her sharp exchange with Wang Qiu'er and her agreement to stand down specifically for Yan Buhui's sake 51 59 61.
She also retains a wry attitude toward Yan Buhui's pursuit of additional women. When his newly arrived companions leave him exhausted, she remarks that they appear to have worn him out, joining the other wives' teasing rather than simply praising him 98.
Abilities & Skills
Ice Phoenix Martial Soul
Shui Bing'er's Martial Soul is the Ice Phoenix, associated with the ice-attribute Soul Power cultivated at Skywater Academy 10 15 26.
- She considers using its elemental advantage against Yan Buhui's fire-attribute nature, but no successful suppression is demonstrated 10.
- The strength gap renders the Skywater women's ice and water powers ineffective against Yan Buhui; their power would melt before reaching him 15.
- She is later counted among Yan Buhui's strongest wives, alongside Wang Qiu'er and Huo Wu, although her exact cultivation rank remains unstated 70.
- Her daughters with Yan Buhui are described as Ice Fire Phoenix twins 102.
Wind, Thunder, Water and Fire Array
She can contribute her Soul Power to the Four Elements Academy's combined array 11.
- The technique is led by the four academy deans and reinforced by their students 11.
- Its attack fails to defeat Yan Buhui, who survives through Nirvana Fire 11.

- Her standing among young Soul Masters helps mobilize the rescue expedition 13.
Dance
She leads Skywater Academy's dance troupe and performs with its seven beauties 19 45.
- Their passionate dance contributes to the group's fame across the continent and overseas 45.
- Yan Buhui watches the seven women dance during their time in his household 19.
Flame Markings and Restrictions
- Fallen Heart Flame Heart Fire: Injected into her body by Yan Buhui, initially causing intense pain; later contributes to improvements in physique and Soul Power 14 19.
- Ultimate Fire marking: Allows her to move through Phoenix Emperor Mountain without suffering the territory's harmful effects 14.
- Seal of Fire: Prevents her from moving more than ten paces from Yan Buhui when she attempts to leave during an argument at Panxin Lake 19.
