Background

Bibi Dong became Spirit Hall’s Pope after Qian Xunji. She had previously fallen in love with Yu Xiaogang, a relationship the narration identifies as a turning point in her fate 78 81.

Her relationship with Qian Xunji left her with enduring hatred toward him. Their daughter, Qian Renxue, became entangled in that resentment: Bibi Dong regarded her birth as a source of shame and withheld maternal affection from her. After Tang Hao severely injured Qian Xunji, Bibi Dong devoured him while he was recuperating 87 100 108 114.

As Pope, Bibi Dong maintained Spirit Hall’s structure and daily operations, with Yue Guan and Gui Mei regularly carrying out work at her side. Her authority was nevertheless constrained by Qian Daoliu’s control over the organization’s strongest personnel 81 87 89.

Before meeting Yan Buhui, she had escaped Slaughter City and obtained the inheritance of Divine Slaughter’s Domain. She and Tang Hao are identified as its two inheritors 44 129 130.

Bibi Dong is proud, decisive, and unwilling to surrender without testing an opponent herself. Even after Yan Buhui defeats her supporting elders and burns away her restraint skill, she chooses to fight rather than hand herself and Hu Liena over to him. Her determination is reinforced by her affection for Hu Liena, whom she considers her most beloved disciple 87 88.

Her treatment of Qian Renxue is markedly colder. She associates her daughter with her painful past with Qian Xunji and reacts angrily when Qian Renxue challenges her conduct as a mother. Their shared attachment to Yan Buhui does not resolve this conflict 100 105 113 114.

Outside combat, she can be reassuring and practical. She promises to protect the frightened midwife brought to Phoenix Emperor Mountain and helps deliver the household’s children. She also recognizes Yan Buhui’s care for his family and reassesses her assumptions about Soul Beasts’ capacity for affection 101 103.

Defeat at Spirit Hall

Bibi Dong senses Yan Buhui’s deliberately unconcealed presence when he arrives at Spirit Hall. Upon learning that he intends to take her and Hu Liena away, she warns that he will make an enemy of the entire organization and orders Yue Guan and Gui Mei to attack 86 87.

After Yan Buhui overwhelms the elders, Bibi Dong deploys both Martial Souls, a clone, Immortal Body, and Space-Rending Abyss Slash. None secures victory: his Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame stops her strongest attack, and the flames released by his Evil Fire Phoenix form knock her unconscious. Revived with the elders’ help, she admits defeat 88 89.

She accompanies him to the Angel Temple and witnesses his battle with Qian Daoliu, realizing that he had shown her mercy. After his victory, she confirms to Ling Yuan Douluo that Yan Buhui has become Spirit Hall’s Great Enshrined and now holds its highest authority 90 91 92 95.

Life at Phoenix Emperor Mountain

Bibi Dong and Hu Liena pack their belongings before leaving for the Land of Extreme Flame. There, Bibi Dong questions Yan Buhui’s insistence on having children and learns that his personal strength is linked to his offspring 96 99.

She accompanies him to Heaven Dou City to find a midwife, reassures the woman during the hurried return, and assists with the births of Huo Wu’s twins and the Plant Academy women’s children. During the ensuing celebration, she recognizes the extraordinary scale of Yan Buhui’s authority over Soul Beasts, the empires, and Spirit Hall 101 103 104.
