He admired the Eternal Night Demon Emperor from childhood and actively gathered information about the Demon Domain and its prominent figures. Nevertheless, he initially considered Lu Qing'an unworthy of Xu Qingying, unaware that his brother-in-law was his idol 5 42 131.

Discovering Lu Qing'an’s Identity

Even after Lu Qing'an revealed Peak Great Emperor Realm cultivation, Xu Xuanyu insisted that Xu Qingying’s Immaculate Emperor Position would eventually make her stronger. He remained similarly dismissive when Xu Yunyi chose to stay in the Demon Domain 5 36.

Xu Yunyi’s account of Lu Qing'an’s identity, weapons, and spatial travel gradually overturned his assumptions. Once he accepted the truth, Xu Xuanyu became eager to visit the Demon Domain himself 42 43.

Nangong Yun’s Engagement and His Crippling

Xu Xuanyu had secretly loved Nangong Yun for years. When she became Xu Qingying’s disciple, he initially welcomed the prospect of seeing her more often. That hope collapsed when her household announced her engagement to Huangfu Qi, who warned Xu Xuanyu to stay away from her 68.

Xu Qingying and Lin Qingxue refused his request to intervene. He was subsequently found lying in a pool of blood at the Nangong Household. During his recovery, he was accused of drunkenly forcing Nangong Yun to elope; he disputed the accusation, but Xu Qingying told him to endure the situation for the bigger picture 68 70.

Huangfu Qi had crippled his cultivation and forced him to crawl between his legs. Feeling abandoned by his eldest sister, Xu Xuanyu contacted Xu Yunyi and broke down when Lu Miaomiao called him “Uncle” 70 365.

When he learned that a mysterious attacker had crippled Huangfu Qi and his father’s cultivation, he immediately recognized Lu Qing'an’s intervention. The contrast between his sister’s refusal to act and his former brother-in-law’s support left him deeply grateful and ashamed of his past hostility 74.

Life in the Demon Domain

Li Feiyu escorted the powerless Xu Xuanyu to the border, where Xu Yunyi received him. Lu Zixuan and Lu Miaomiao welcomed him warmly, having forgiven his earlier behavior. Their kindness moved him to tears 114 115.

His reunion with Lu Qing'an became an elaborate apology involving kneeling, sliding across the courtyard, and clinging to Lu Qing'an’s leg. Lu Qing'an eventually allowed him to remain and assigned him responsibility for cleaning and housework 115 117 118.

While working in the herb garden, Xu Xuanyu discovered that he could communicate with demonic herbs. Lu Qing'an recognized its potential for alchemy and arranged for the Dao of Alchemy Master to examine him. The master proposed a treatment requiring ten rare supreme-grade tenth-tier demonic medicines and accepted him as a disciple after testing his ability with a pill 120 121 134 142.

After the ingredients were gathered, Xu Xuanyu underwent the dangerous treatment and recovered. Lu Qing'an then raised him to the Peak Saint King Realm and directed him toward time-accelerated cultivation, making clear that he would have to take his own revenge 205 207 208 210 211.

Revenge on Huangfu Qi

Xu Xuanyu’s Emperor Realm breakthrough granted him two special Emperor Positions. He subsequently reached the Peak Great Emperor Realm, studied an ancient cauldron’s alchemy knowledge, and continued strengthening himself with pills and Divine Crystals 235 322 323 330.

He intended to wait until the Tribulation Heaven Emperor Realm before returning for revenge. Li Feiyu’s disappearance forced him to act sooner. Nangong Yun identified Huangfu Qi’s involvement, prompting Xu Xuanyu to lead his companions to the Huangfu Household and recover his friend 359 363 364 366.

During the confrontation, he concealed his dual Emperor Positions and used Luo Danhong’s formation to disguise his cultivation, coaxing Huangfu Qi into appearing. When the second soul sharing Huangfu Qi’s body gained the advantage, Xu Xuanyu used the Pill Burning Technique to achieve a temporary major-realm increase 365 367.

He destroyed Huangfu Qi’s Emperor Rings and burned his body and both souls to nothing. Although warned about a Karma Dao Mark, he dismissed the threat and declared his revenge complete 368.

Alchemy and Later Activities

At the Alchemist Guild, Xu Xuanyu passed his membership assessment by rapidly producing two one-mystery high-grade Divine Cultivation Pills. During subsequent contests, he freely analyzed defeated contestants’ pills and advised them, earning their respect 503 511.

He later sought Lu Qing'an’s protection when he sensed someone locating him. They identified the threat as connected to the soul he had killed alongside Huangfu Qi; Lu Qing'an subsequently killed the invading Xing Shi 530 534.

After learning more about his parents’ circumstances, Xu Xuanyu helped arrange a meeting between Lu Qing'an’s children and Xu Qingying. He later returned with Xu Yunyi following the integration of the Two Heavens and Three Heavens continents and reunited with their father, Xu Man 551 574.

In the extra chapter, he returns alongside Little Blackie with the Goddess of Light’s ultimate treasure. Little Blackie credits Xu Xuanyu’s gossip with helping him win her over 823.

Xu Xuanyu begins as an arrogant defender of his eldest sister, treating Lu Qing'an with open contempt. Learning his brother-in-law’s identity—and receiving help when his own sister would not defend him—changes that attitude into enthusiastic loyalty. His gratitude is conspicuously emotional, expressed through tears, hugs, extravagant praise, and repeated declarations of affection 2 5 74 115 205.

He is theatrical and shameless despite frequently claiming to have a reputation to maintain. His quick tongue wins over powerful figures, but it also produces ill-timed insults and teasing. Xiao Qingyi admires both his ability to say exactly what others want to hear and his talent for breaking their composure 115 130 131.

Beneath the antics, he values loyalty and family. He refuses to disclose Lu Qing'an’s Divine Crystals without permission, rushes to help Li Feiyu, and continues urging reconciliation between his sisters despite his own grievances 240 363 370 393. His attitude toward Xu Qingying remains conflicted: he still treats her as family but later doubts whether she can be trusted not to abandon loved ones again 552.
