Power Progression

Main-Timeline Vegeta

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Super Saiyan Second Grade 3 His established limit at the beginning. Already moves freely under 1,500 times Earth’s gravity in his normal state, but has remained stuck below Third Grade for years.
Tail restored 4 5 Uses Shenron’s third wish to regrow his tail. The resulting increase in strength makes his transformation bottleneck unmistakable.
Super Saiyan 3 / Third Grade 10 11 Breaks through after regrowing his tail. His transformation destroys the gravity training room and shakes Earth.
Perfect control of Super Saiyan 3 15 Achieves mastery after a year of intensive training in Bulma’s rebuilt gravity room.
Super Saiyan 4 20 23 Attains the form during the following year with Bulma’s guidance on its connection to the Great Ape transformation. First displays it in battle against Beerus.
Peak Black-Haired Super Saiyan 4 114 Uses this state against Hit, enduring vital-point attacks without injury.
Super Saiyan 4: Supreme Evil Sublimation 115 116 Amplifies the evil within his heart and layers it over Super Saiyan 4. Its strength allows him to escape Hit’s Time Cage.
Refined Supreme Evil Sublimation 125 126 Transforms without leaking any aura. Uses evil-energy claws and a defensive barrier while sparring with Goku’s Ultra Instinct Sign.
Evil Saiyan 151 Gains control over evil power without losing his reason or emotional control.
Fully realized Evil Saiyan 167 Can draw on evil power in his normal state. His displayed evil aura alone is comparable to the strength of veteran Gods of Destruction.
Majin Super Saiyan 5 178 180 Reveals an evolution resembling, but fundamentally different from, Goku’s Super Saiyan 5. Its surging evil power can heal him but also attempts to enslave his mind.
Fully mastered Majin Super Saiyan 5 231 Perfectly combines evil power and bloodline power. After nearly half a year of training, he is several times stronger than during the Tournament of Power.
Dark Realm-enhanced fusion 240 The Great Evil God merges him with a powerful alternate Vegeta and supplies Dark Realm resources, strengthening both his body and soul.
Dark Super Saiyan 6 242 243 Unleashes his new transformation against Goku after strengthening himself through fusion with alternate selves. His attacks combine Dark Power and evil power.
Angel Realm strength 245 Explicitly reaches Angel Realm combat strength. Has also touched the power of laws, though Goku defeats him after releasing his full strength.
  • Unrealized named goal: After the Tournament of Power, Vegeta sets out to develop Super Saiyan Sixth Stage: Ultimate Evil Sublimation. His later documented transformation is called Dark Super Saiyan 6; the two names are not explicitly equated 225 242.

Super-Space-Time Counterpart

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Super Saiyan Blue 62 Already possesses the transformation when he confronts the protagonist in the future world. Uses God Ki rather than the main Vegeta’s evil-power path.
Stronger Super Saiyan Blue 74 75 Returns after intensive training, acknowledging that he and his Goku must cooperate against their opponent.
Super Saiyan Blue Evolved Evolution 80 Reveals the form after surviving Broly’s compressed energy blast. Had originally saved it for his rematch with the protagonist.

Background

Vegeta’s early life includes fighting on other planets, serving in the Frieza Force, and losing his homeworld. He later comes to Earth and is repelled by Goku, dies at Frieza’s hands on Namek, and witnesses Goku’s emergence as a Super Saiyan. The android incidents and Majin Buu crisis repeatedly force him to confront his rival’s superior strength 47 135.

After Majin Buu’s defeat, Vegeta acknowledges Goku’s strength without accepting permanent second place. Two years later, he continues training while many of Earth’s other fighters return to civilian life 2 3.

His childhood encounter with Beerus leaves a separate, lasting grievance. Beerus humiliates King Vegeta and the Saiyans and frightens the young prince with a glance. When Beerus returns decades later, Vegeta treats their confrontation as a chance to reclaim his people’s dignity 20.

Appearance

  • Normal state: Upright black hair; regrows a brown-black tail through Shenron 4 5.
  • Super Saiyan 3: Waist-length golden hair, absent eyebrows, a lowered brow ridge, and blue-white electrical arcs 10.
  • Supreme Evil Sublimation: Remains a Super Saiyan 4 form, surrounded by black light and a blood-red aura; later displays blood-red eyes 115 125.
  • Majin Super Saiyan 5: Dark-red fur with a blood-red sheen and dense baleful energy 178.
  • Dark Realm return: His appearance changes drastically, accompanied by a murderous aura far beyond his Tournament of Power presence 241.

Personality

Vegeta’s pride is inseparable from his identity as the Saiyan prince. He initially measures progress against Goku’s transformations, but eventually rejects following the same route and commits to developing an independent path through evil power. Even after witnessing greater transformations, he responds by training rather than abandoning the rivalry 17 147 202 225.

His cold manner conceals powerful attachments. Bulma and Trunks are important enough to make him accept fusion despite his objections, and concern for Goku’s survival overtakes his resentment during the battle with Beerus. When their combined resistance fails, he gives Goku his remaining energy 31 35 47.

His pursuit of power makes him vulnerable to manipulation, but not wholly submissive. He rejects Litz’s offer to surpass Goku through outside help, resists the mental pressure of Majin Super Saiyan 5, and retains a strong sense of self even after Dark Realm corruption. Once he recognizes the destruction caused by his actions, he chooses to confront the Great Evil God rather than obey him 180 231 242 245 246.

Energy Techniques

  • Galick Gun: Gathers white-purple energy for a ranged attack after his Super Saiyan 3 melee assault fails against Beerus 22.
  • Final Flash: Fires a massive, desperate blast at Beerus; later uses the technique against the Great Evil God. Neither opponent is harmed by those attacks 25 246.
  • Big Bang Attack: Uses it against Hit and Evil God Litz 114 231.

Evil Power

  • Energy constructs: Creates enormous evil claws for ranged attacks and barriers for defense 126.
  • Healing: Uses evil power to repair injuries during his fight with Super Jiren 180.
  • Mental resistance: Overpowers Majin Super Saiyan 5’s attempt to turn him into a bloodthirsty killing machine 180.
  • Limits: Control over his own evil power does not make him immune to Dark Realm corruption or the Great Evil God’s interference 232 246.

Resistance to Divine and Temporal Techniques

  • Time-Skip endurance: Hit’s vital-point attacks fail to injure his peak Super Saiyan 4 state 114.
  • Time Cage escape: Breaks out of Hit’s restraint and crushes the energy sphere of his ultimate attack 116.
  • Destruction-energy resistance: Catches and crushes one of Rumsshi’s Destruction Energy Spheres. Later escapes a larger sphere, but suffers deep wounds, lingering destructive energy, and a reduction to less than one percent of his peak strength 132 135.

Dark Power and Laws

  • Dark Realm absorption: Absorbs the realm’s energy to replenish himself and advance 240.
  • Spatial destruction: Detonates demonic claws trapped behind Goku’s spatial barrier, breaking the barrier and sending a destructive shockwave through the Space-Time Corridor 244.
  • Law-related power: Uses an initial grasp of laws alongside Dark Power to contend with Goku before Goku stops holding back 245.
  • Limit against his benefactor: His Final Flash cannot harm the Great Evil God, who can also read his thoughts 246.

Fusion

  • Gogeta: Performs the Fusion Dance with the protagonist after balancing their ki. The resulting golden aura spreads across the universe and breaches dimensional barriers 35.
  • Vegito — alternate counterpart: Super-Space-Time Vegeta and his Goku use Shin’s Potara Earrings. Their fusion develops forms as high as Super Saiyan Blue 3: Ultimate Sublimation, but those achievements belong to Vegito rather than either individual fighter 82 88 91.
  • Potara limitation: Vegito’s increasing power cracks the earrings, beginning during his Blue Evolved Evolution state 85 88.

Equipment & Training Resources

  • Gravity training room: His principal early training facility. Bulma rebuilds it after his Super Saiyan 3 breakthrough destroys the original room 10 15.
  • Shenron’s wish: Uses the final available wish to restore his tail, following Goku’s example 4.
  • Whis-opened training world: Asks Whis to open an entrance to another world and spends three years training there 136.
  • Dark Realm resources: The Great Evil God invests heavily in his development, including acquiring an alternate Vegeta to merge with him 240.

Relationships

  • Son Goku / Kakarot — Friend, rival, and the standard Vegeta is determined to surpass. Their rivalry includes repeated challenges, joint battles, fusion, and mutual rescue 3 17 35 47 245 246.
  • Bulma — Wife and a direct contributor to his growth. Rebuilds his training room, helps him discover the route to Super Saiyan 4, and persuades him to fuse to protect their family 15 23 35.
  • Trunks — Son. Vegeta considers training him in the God of Destruction Realm after seeing Gohan’s Beast God form, then includes him in daily gravity-room training outside school hours 151 225.
  • King Vegeta — Father. Beerus’s humiliation of him remains a personal and racial grievance for Vegeta 20.
  • Whis — Training facilitator who recognizes Vegeta’s independent development and does not oppose his cultivation of evil power 136 147 167.
  • Beerus — Childhood tormentor and overwhelming early opponent; later watches Vegeta’s progress as a Universe 7 fighter 20 25 167 180.
  • Hit — Tournament opponent. Vegeta defeats his temporal techniques and praises him after winning 114 116.
  • Super Jiren — Tournament of Power opponent who acknowledges Vegeta’s strength before eliminating him 180 181.
  • Evil God Litz — Abductor who exploits his desire for power. Her charm fails to subdue him, but her spatial abilities and dark restraints overpower him 231.
  • Great Evil God — Manipulator and benefactor who strengthens Vegeta as a weapon against Goku. Vegeta ultimately rejects his ownership and attempts to destroy him 232 240 246.

Story Role & Major Arcs

Restored Tail and Renewed Rivalry

Goku’s visit interrupts Vegeta’s gravity training and leads him to request a restored tail from Shenron. That wish breaks his long-standing bottleneck, allowing him to achieve Super Saiyan 3. After a year of mastering the form, he challenges Goku, only to discover that his rival has already reached Super Saiyan 4. Vegeta concedes defeat but renews his promise to become the strongest Saiyan 3 4 10 15 17.

Beerus’s Arrival

With Bulma’s help, Vegeta reaches Super Saiyan 4 before Beerus arrives at her birthday celebration. His attempts to avenge the Saiyans’ humiliation end in defeat when Beerus erases his Final Flash and knocks him into the sea 20 23 25.

He subsequently agrees to fuse with Goku to protect Earth and his family. When the two later face Beerus’s Ultimate Destruction Sphere together, Vegeta is severely injured and transfers his remaining energy to Goku. He is later present at the Universe 6–Universe 7 tournament, where he witnesses Goku’s return 35 47 106.

Universe 6 Tournament and the Evil-Power Path

Goku’s disappearance and Beerus’s overwhelming strength drive Vegeta to draw out the ruthless side of his nature. Against Hit, he reveals Supreme Evil Sublimation, overcomes Time Cage, and wins the tournament for Universe 7 115 116.

He continues refining the form in the God of Destruction Realm. After challenging Rumsshi and barely surviving his destruction energy, Vegeta recommits to creating a transformation of his own rather than copying Goku’s Super Saiyan 5 124 132 135 147.

Tournament of Power

Vegeta enters the tournament after becoming a fully realized Evil Saiyan. Against Super Jiren, he unveils Majin Super Saiyan 5 and struggles to keep its power under control 167 178 180.

His Supreme Evil Gamma Burst Flash eliminates the remaining contestants from Universes 4 and 10, leading to those universes’ erasure. Super Jiren survives, knocks Vegeta unconscious, and sends him out of the arena. Vegeta receives a Senzu Bean in Universe 7’s stands 181.

Abduction and Dark Realm Corruption

After the tournament, Vegeta trains toward Ultimate Evil Sublimation while enduring a mysterious voice offering him greater power. He eventually draws out its source, Evil God Litz, but loses their confrontation and is abducted despite rejecting her offer 225 231.

The Great Evil God exposes the cross-time soul fusion behind Goku’s strength while intensifying Vegeta’s demonic nature. He then supplies resources and merges Vegeta with an alternate self. Vegeta returns to his world two and a half years after disappearing and attacks Gohan and Piccolo while waiting for Goku 232 240 241 242.

Dark Super Saiyan 6 and Rebellion

Vegeta challenges Goku with Dark Super Saiyan 6, claiming that fusion has finally removed the difference between them. Their battle damages and destroys countless space-times. Goku responds by unleashing his full strength and defeating him 242 244 245.

Ashamed of the destruction, Vegeta feigns surrender, strikes Goku from behind, and leaves to destroy the Dark Realm alone rather than obey the Great Evil God’s demand to kill him. Goku, who only pretended to be unconscious, follows 245.

At the Great Evil God’s palace, Vegeta rejects the claim that he was “created” by his benefactor and declares his intention to destroy the realm and its evil gods, even at the cost of his life. Goku takes Zatton and Katz aside, leaving Vegeta to confront the Great Evil God. The documented confrontation ends with Vegeta charging again after an ineffective Final Flash 246.
