Background / History
Origins
Shortly after his birth, a ball of heavenly fire fell from the sky. Rather than killing him, it granted him a flame imprint and control over divine fire. He later became master to several talented pure-blooded creatures, whose willingness to serve him reflected his strength and status as a First Generation 31 32.
Before appearing in the Lower Realm, he had repeatedly pestered Yue Chan in the Upper Realm. She remained unwilling to engage with him when they met again at Divine Medicine Valley 35.
Defeat at Divine Medicine Valley
After receiving the White Tiger’s dying image, the Divine Flame Man recognized that his followers could not defeat the killer and personally went to confront Lei Chong. Lei Chong’s spirit body wounded his primordial spirit with the God-Striking Technique, and Lei Chong’s awakened true body trapped him in a golden lightning net 31.
The Reincarnation Disk fragment intervened automatically, destroying the net, purging the lightning from his body, and restoring his injuries. He resumed fighting with divine fire, but Lei Chong absorbed his flame prison and destroyed his flame figures. Once Lei Chong secured Heavenly Desolation’s support and stopped holding back, the Divine Flame Man suffered a complete defeat 32 33.
He activated the Reincarnation Disk with his blood to save himself—the first time he had needed it to preserve his life against someone of his own generation. Heavenly Desolation intercepted the disk, and the treasures eventually ended their confrontation. Humiliated, he instructed his servants not to provoke Lei Chong again 33.
Exploration of the Secret Realm
When the damaged formation exposed divine materials, he immediately ordered his servants to collect them: each material could secure a move from the Chaos Disk. Lei Chong’s warning stopped the servants, so the Divine Flame Man instead sent spirit bodies to compete for the treasures 34.
His attempt to control the apparent flames failed because they were actually symbols rising from the soil. Lei Chong exposed the gate beneath them, and both men used spirit bodies to investigate. One of the Divine Flame Man’s scouts was killed by Lei Chong’s spirit body; another subsequently explored a different area 34 35 36.
After failing to stop Lei Chong from entering first, he followed through the gate. The Reincarnation Disk informed him that cultivators above the Venerable Realm were suppressed within the secret realm, a restriction he greeted confidently 36.
Bi Fang Inheritance and Negotiations
While studying the Bi Fang inheritance, he fought cultivators who interrupted his comprehension. Lei Chong took advantage of the fighting to seize the rune bone. Although angered by the theft, the Divine Flame Man resented the interrupters more and deliberately blocked their pursuit with his newly learned Bi Fang technique 39 40.
He later prevented other cultivators from learning that technique. Because the factions needed a Bi Fang manifestation to open the mountain formation, his obstruction forced them to negotiate. Through Yue Chan, he demanded blood oaths from the deities that they would not attack him before the final contest for the True Phoenix Precious Technique 43.
Contest for the True Phoenix Bone
In the upper palace, he and Yue Chan stood out among the combatants ambushing rival cultivators. Their First Generation abilities and powerful treasures allowed them to threaten Venerables despite their lower cultivation 45.
After Lei Chong shattered the True Phoenix rune bone, the Divine Flame Man used his Bi Fang flames to hold opponents back. The Reincarnation Disk crushed a fragment-bearing Venerable with Chaos Qi, allowing him to claim the fragment and study it. He later fled the upper hall with the other cultivators when flames appeared overhead 48.
When Lei Chong was presumed dead, he silently watched the passage. Despite their grudge, he had developed genuine admiration for Lei Chong’s fighting strength 50.
Appearance
- Divine flames surround his body, radiating heat described as capable of burning the void apart 31.
- A Reincarnation Disk fragment hovers above his head, trailing wisps of chaos that give him a mysterious bearing 31.
Personality
The Divine Flame Man is proud of his innate fire and accustomed to commanding powerful followers. Nevertheless, he can assess threats accurately: he immediately recognized that the White Tiger’s killer was beyond his servants and noticed the temporary limitation of Lei Chong’s God-Striking Technique during their first exchange 31 32.
His pride does not outweigh survival. After his defeat, he accepted the treasures’ decision to end the battle and ordered his followers to avoid further provocation. He also used access to the Bi Fang technique as bargaining power, insisting on blood oaths rather than accepting Yue Chan’s verbal assurance 33 43.
He is vindictive toward those who obstruct him, even helping Lei Chong escape simply to frustrate the cultivators who had interrupted his studies. Yet he can acknowledge an enemy’s strength, as shown by his heartfelt admiration for Lei Chong 40 50.
