Background / History

Xie Yue and his younger sister, Hu Li Na, were orphaned after their parents—formerly under Tuoba Xi’s command—died during a soul-hunting expedition with the former Pontiff. The Martial Soul Hall subsequently raised both siblings. 11

He remained in Zero Dormitory and deliberately repeated a grade for seven years so he could stay with Hu Li Na. During that time, he accepted numerous challenges and accumulated extensive practical combat experience. 24

Zero Dormitory Challenge

On Challenge Day, Xie Yue attempts to reclaim a challenge fee after losing to Tuoba Yan, then follows him into his villa and initiates a fight. Despite his extensive experience and strong physical attacks, Tuoba Yan repels him with a counterpunch. 24

After Hu Li Na calls on him to avenge her, Xie Yue formally challenges Tuoba Yan as a Level 37 Battle Soul Venerable. He reveals the Moon Blade Martial Soul and presses Tuoba Yan with Moonlight Slash and Moonlight Shatter, but is ultimately incapacitated when Tuoba Yan uses levitated debris and a dust cloud to set up a Rasengan strike. 25 26 27

Renewed Cultivation

Following his defeat, Xie Yue recognizes Tuoba Yan’s extraordinary strength but refuses to give up. He cultivates obsessively, aiming to understand and overcome Tuoba Yan’s abilities in a future fight. 28

Canyon Trial and Assassin Attack

Xie Yue and Hu Li Na attempt to join Tuoba Yan’s group for the canyon trial, seeking the rewards available on the sixth level. Tuoba Yan declines, but Xie Yue and Hu Li Na ultimately reach the sixth level and tie for second place. 31 36

When a masked attacker targets Tuoba Yan, Xie Yue helps Zhang Ping and Hu Li Na protect him. He is overpowered and knocked unconscious, then secretly healed by Tuoba Yan’s Horse Talisman; the healing also raises his Soul Power to Level 42. 32 35

Trial Results

Xie Yue and Hu Li Na initially expect to win the trial, only to learn that Tuoba Yan has taken first place by clearing the entire canyon. Their disbelief further reinforces Xie Yue’s rivalry with Tuoba Yan. 36
