Background / History
Yushiro accompanies Tamayo while she collects demon blood samples for her research. He is initially dismissive of Han Zhiqi, crediting Tamayo's Bewitching Blood Technique for overpowering opponents and refusing to acknowledge Han's perception until Tamayo cautions him otherwise 66.
At the hot-spring inn, Han Zhiqi detects and captures the invisible Yushiro while he is collecting blood from a Water Demon. Humiliated, Yushiro immediately attacks after being released, but Tamayo restrains him and explains that Han acted out of concern for Nohime 70 71. He later records Han's descriptions of Igu Qigan and Hyōshi Yū so that Tamayo can search for them 72.
Over the following months, Yushiro regularly brings food to Han during his training at Tamayo's instruction. When Tamayo disappears in the Flower District, he sets aside his distrust of Han and asks him for help; however, he initially excludes Nohime and attempts a rescue alone rather than rely on Demon Slayers 167 169 171.
Following Han's rescue of Tamayo, Yushiro's opinion of him improves substantially. He assists Han, Nohime, and Tamayo in the Flower District investigation, though his decision to use his visual-sharing technique on his Calico Cat rather than the agreed Kasugai Crow network cuts off communications and endangers the operation 170 174 192.
Yushiro strongly opposes Tamayo's proposed cooperation with the Demon Slayer Corps and initially conceals Mitsuri Kanroji's request from her. He ultimately accepts Tamayo's decision, recognizing that the two of them cannot defeat Muzan alone 194 196.
During the Infinity Castle operation, he works alongside Mitsuri and Obanai to locate and control Nakime. After Tamayo's death and Muzan's defeat, he plans to return to Tamayo's villa and sort through her belongings, later agreeing to give Han Tamayo's research materials and help Mitsuri contact him 259 272 274 288 290.
Appearance
Yushiro is a handsome young man with pale-blue hair, a youthful face, and a usually severe or irritated expression. He wears a white haori 66 70.
- Pale-blue hair 66 70
- White haori 66
- Described as having a “baby face” despite his hostile demeanor 70
- Can conceal his body from sight through talismans 70
Personality
Yushiro is fiercely devoted to Tamayo and consistently treats her as the foremost authority in his life. He praises her strength, follows her instructions immediately, and becomes distressed or reckless whenever she is endangered 66 71 171.
He is blunt, sarcastic, and highly suspicious of Demon Slayers. His resentment toward Han begins with being captured and humiliated, while his hostility toward the Demon Slayer Corps leads him to reject Mitsuri's initial offer of cooperation and hide it from Tamayo 70 71 194.
Despite his abrasive manner, Yushiro becomes more cooperative after witnessing Han risk his life for Tamayo. He ultimately preserves Tamayo's research and agrees to help the living, seeking to continue her work after her death 192 290.
