Background

Shinobu discovers the gravely wounded Han Zhiqi as the sole survivor of a demon massacre at White Snow Mountain. She orders the medical team to bring him to the Butterfly Mansion, while privately questioning why demons spared him 1.

She reports Han's condition to Kagaya Ubuyashiki and declines to accept him as another successor, explaining that she is content with Kanao and that the Butterfly Mansion is not suited to taking in another boy. Even so, she recognizes Han's physical foundation and compares his willingness to risk his life to Sanemi Shinazugawa's 2.

Although Han initially seeks Gyomei Himejima directly, Shinobu helps steer him toward the Demon Slayer Corps and evaluates his potential through a wooden-sword duel with Aoi Kanzaki. She later personally appeals to Aoyanagi Hyōbei to accept Han for training 5 14.

Shinobu's elder sister, Kanae Kocho, was the former Flower Hashira.
