Background / History

Sasuke was an exceptionally gifted Academy student: calm under attention, precise with hand seals, and already able to perform the Transformation Jutsu to its form standard within a month. Though classmates praised him as the class's top student, he privately criticized himself for not perfectly copying Iruka's spirit. 21 22

Naruto repeatedly challenged Sasuke to become friends, first pinning him during a spar. Sasuke rejected the offer out of Uchiha pride and resolved to defeat Naruto someday, establishing a rivalry that gradually became a genuine friendship. Their early clashes included Sasuke's Fire Style, Clone Technique, Substitution Technique, and Body Flicker Technique against Naruto's overwhelming physical strength. 24 28

Before the Uchiha clan's destruction, Sasuke lived with his parents, Fugaku and Mikoto, and his older brother Itachi. He concealed injuries from Naruto by claiming he had fallen, but remained close enough to Itachi to ask for his cooking and later seek lessons in it. 24 36
