Ch. 2002The Third Wish

Bulma wished for the ability to survive and breathe in space, then discovered she could fly using He-El’s psychic martial art. He-El used the final wish to request a complex World Tree foundation, but Porunga could not fulfill it.

  • Bulma wished for her human body to survive and breathe in space, and Porunga altered her respiratory system to adapt to space radiation.
  • Bulma reached the entry level of He-El’s psychic martial art, flew around excitedly, then returned when she felt tired.
  • Nail and Yug declined to make a wish, so He-El considered how to use the remaining one.
  • He-El recited extensive World Tree data intended to help him examine the Dragon Ball Universe’s underlying operating logic.
  • Porunga said he could not fulfill He-El’s request and asked him to make another wish.

Ch. 2003Dragon Ball Universe World Tree Sapling

He-El used his third wish to have Porunga create a World Tree Sapling customized for the Dragon Ball Universe. He-El then weighed where to plant it, concluding that Earth seemed to be the only suitable choice.

  • He-El transmitted instructions to Porunga, who created the Dragon Ball Universe World Tree Sapling as his third wish.
  • He-El caught the sapling and explained to Bulma that it could probe the universe’s underlying operational logic.
  • He-El considered planting the sapling on Planet Namek but worried that the planet might be destroyed while he was away.
  • He-El ruled out choosing a random planet because Beerus or Frieza might destroy it, and he settled on Earth as the only apparent option.

Ch. 2004Instant Transmission

After returning to Planet Namek, He-El studied the cosmic knowledge Porunga had granted him while he and Bulma stayed in the Great Elder’s village. He planned to leave and travel the universe, then use Instant Transmission to return when Namek faced a crisis six years later; meanwhile, Nail and Yug prepared to upgrade Bulma’s ship.

  • He-El stored the Dragon Ball Universe World Tree Sapling in a Hoi-Poi Capsule and returned to the Great Elder’s village with Nail, Yug, and Bulma.
  • He-El and Bulma settled in the village, where he spent half a month studying Porunga’s knowledge and refining his Ki techniques.
  • Bulma asked whether they would remain on Planet Namek for six years, and He-El said they would travel the universe before returning to help with Namek’s coming crisis.
  • Bulma repeatedly tried to catch He-El in a hug as he evaded her with Instant Transmission, then he caught her when she pretended to collapse from exhaustion.
  • He-El took Bulma above Planet Namek and told her they could return instantly; Bulma said Nail and Yug were refitting her ship and planned to name it He-El and Bulma’s Star Voyager.

Ch. 2005Do You Want a Namekian?

He-El and Bulma settled into life on Planet Namek while Bulma prepared to modify their spacecraft and He-El agreed to train Nail. The Grand Elder then asked He-El whether he would take a Namekian as his subordinate.

  • He-El and Bulma spent an evening with Namekian children, sharing stories about other planets.
  • Nail and Yug told He-El and Bulma that they had gathered Planet Namek's spacecraft technology; Bulma volunteered to redesign and build their spacecraft.
  • Nail asked He-El to teach him martial arts, and He-El agreed.
  • Nail brought He-El to meet the Grand Elder, who praised He-El's kindness and heard him explain that he also had a cruel side.
  • The Grand Elder asked He-El whether he would take a Namekian as his subordinate.

Ch. 2006A Question in Return

The Grand Elder asked He-El to take a Namekian as a subordinate so the race would survive if disaster struck Planet Namek. He-El agreed, but said the candidate would have to pass his test and accept a dangerous life of war and constant travel.

  • The Grand Elder asked He-El to take a Namekian under his protection as a branch of the race that could survive beyond Planet Namek.
  • The Grand Elder explained that he feared future disasters and invaders seeking Porunga, and recalled how Katas had reached Earth and left Piccolo behind.
  • Nail understood that the aging Grand Elder was trying to protect the Namekians' future and grew tearful.
  • He-El agreed to take a Namekian, provided that the candidate remained loyal and could endure traveling and fighting across universes.
  • He-El warned that he could not guarantee the Namekian's safety and would require the candidate to pass a test, leaving Nail chilled by the dangers he described.

Ch. 2007The Great Elder Gives Birth to Dandy

He-El warned the Great Elder that serving him meant facing a brutal cosmic war, but agreed to consider a Namekian recruit. The Great Elder produced his final child, Dandy, at the cost of most of his remaining lifespan.

  • He-El told the Great Elder and Nail that New Krypton would face a dangerous war against the Monitors and that his subordinates would endure severe trials.
  • The Great Elder left the choice to follow He-El to the Namekian himself, and He-El said he would leave Planet Namek in about half a year and return six years later.
  • The Great Elder decided to produce one final child, despite Nail warning that it would drastically shorten his life.
  • The Great Elder spat out an egg and handed it to He-El, then aged until he had fewer than ten years left to live.
  • The Great Elder named the child Dandy and said he had the greatest Dragon Clan talent among the Namekians.

Ch. 2008Dandy Egg

He-El accepted the Dandy Egg the Grand Elder had created with his remaining life force, while reflecting on Dandy’s exceptional potential as a Dragon Clan healer and support. After He-El left the village with the egg, Nail caught up and asked him to train him with all his strength.

  • The Grand Elder explained that he had bred Dandy, his most talented Dragon Clan child, to serve He-El and help secure the Namekians’ future.
  • He-El told the Grand Elder that Dandy would have to pass his test before becoming his subordinate, and the exhausted Grand Elder fell asleep.
  • Nail covered the sleeping Grand Elder with a blanket, checked that he was safe, and arranged for others to prepare nourishing supplements.
  • He-El carried the Dandy Egg out of the village, and Nail followed him after making sure the Grand Elder was cared for.
  • Nail dropped to his knees before He-El and asked him to train him with all his strength.

Ch. 2009Self-Destruction

He-El taught Nail internal circulation pressure training to strengthen his Ki and body, warning that losing control could make him self-destruct. Nail exploded during his first session but regenerated, convinced that the training was already making him stronger.

  • Nail asked He-El to train him with everything he had, and He-El explained that Nail could not withstand his full instruction.
  • He-El took Nail to a training ground and showed him how to increase pressure during internal Ki circulation, warning him that excessive pressure could cause self-destruction.
  • Nail began the training, felt his muscles and Ki bind together, and increased the pressure despite He-El's warning.
  • After about half an hour, Nail lost control and exploded, then regenerated his body with his head intact.
  • He-El reassured the frightened Dandy Egg that it should remain unhatched while he strengthened its talents.
  • Nail told He-El from the crater that he could feel his power and strength improving.

Ch. 2010Research

He-El trained Nail in the Everlasting Life Technique while developing a version tailored to the Dragon Clan for the Dandy Egg. After a month of experimentation and training on Planet Namek, the Dandy Egg began to hatch.

  • Nail repeatedly pushed his internal Ki circulation until his body exploded, then regenerated and realized he still had to learn to sense the source of Ki within his cells.
  • He-El explained that Nail could pursue the Everlasting Life Technique through spiritual comprehension or through destructive physical pressure, and Nail vowed to keep training.
  • He-El gave the Dandy Egg an Ability-Type Everlasting Life Technique designed to develop the Dragon Clan’s many abilities and told it to hatch in a month.
  • While the Dandy Egg cultivated, He-El developed Ki techniques using knowledge Porunga had transmitted, including nearly creating a black hole that threatened Planet Namek.
  • Over the next month, Nail nearly self-destructed during daily training and He-El used him in painful experiments; then a leg kicked out from the Dandy Egg.

Ch. 2011Dandy

Dandy hatched and began a trial set by He-El, traveling with Nail and the Grand Elder to visit every Namekian village and understand its people. Five months later, as He-El and Bulma prepared to leave Planet Namek, Dandy finally understood the purpose of his trial.

  • Dandy hatched, greeted He-El as his master and Bulma as his mistress, and asked He-El to begin his trial.
  • He-El told Dandy to visit every village on Planet Namek, spend time with its Namekians, and feel their essence as Namekians.
  • Nail brought Dandy to the Grand Elder, who agreed to travel with them and encouraged Dandy to learn through experience.
  • Dandy visited the villages with Nail and the Grand Elder, met the other elders, and gradually became part of the Namekian community.
  • Five months later, as He-El and Bulma prepared to leave Planet Namek, Dandy finally understood his trial.

Ch. 2012Crybaby Dandy

After six months of construction, He-El, Bulma, and Dandy prepared to leave Planet Namek aboard their newly expanded research spaceship. Dandy said an emotional farewell to the Namekians and departed with He-El, leaving them cheering him on.

  • Bulma, Yug, and the Namekians transformed Bulma's small Azure Star into the twelve-hundred-meter research vessel He-El and Bulma's Spaceship.
  • Dandy announced that he was leaving Planet Namek with He-El, and Nail urged him to serve He-El well as Nail's training raised his battle power to 53,000.
  • The Grand Elder and the Namekians embraced Dandy and wished him well as he struggled with leaving his friends and homeland.
  • He-El encouraged Dandy to face the crowd and cry while saying goodbye, and Bulma became emotional too.
  • Dandy wept as he promised to make the Namekians proud, then left with He-El while the crowd called him Crybaby Dandy.

Ch. 2013Leaving Planet Namek

He-El and Bulma prepared to leave Planet Namek after six months, with He-El arranging a way for the Namekians to alert him when Frieza’s forces arrived in six years. He-El, Bulma, and Dandy departed aboard their spacecraft, leaving Nail and the Grand Elder to protect the planet and stay in contact.

  • He-El told the Grand Elder and Nail to use his communication sphere to notify him when aliens invaded in six years, explaining that he could return to Planet Namek instantly from anywhere.
  • He-El warned Nail not to let his increased strength make him overconfident, reminding him that the future invaders could defeat him easily; Nail promised to act carefully.
  • The Grand Elder and the Namekians thanked He-El for helping them, while He-El noted that he had also used Porunga’s power.
  • Bulma said goodbye to her Namekian friends, stored their gifts in a Hoi-Poi Capsule, and gave them storybooks in return.
  • He-El, Bulma, and Dandy boarded their spacecraft and left Planet Namek.

Ch. 2014Six Years Passed in the Blink of an Eye

He-El, Bulma, and Dandy explored planets across the universe, while He-El helped worlds recover and contacted King Kai for directions. After six years of traveling, they had still encountered nothing familiar, and Raditz arrived on Earth.

  • He-El and Bulma collected stellar iron from a dead planet and visited a habitable world, sending its coordinates to the Grand Elder and Nail as a possible refuge for the Namekians.
  • After a month of aimless travel, He-El contacted King Kai, who provided coordinates for dozens of planets and asked He-El to help restore their people’s potential for growth.
  • He-El, Bulma, and Dandy traveled from planet to planet, where He-El suppressed wars, stopped ambitious schemers, and sometimes left behind martial arts techniques.
  • He-El learned from King Kai that Goku and Piccolo had earned Kami’s approval and were running along Snake Way toward Kais Planet.
  • Six years passed as the group continued traveling through the universe, and Raditz arrived on Earth.

Ch. 2015Trash with a Power Level of Only 5

Raditz’s past and death were recounted before he arrived on Earth, intent on recruiting his younger brother Kakarot and claiming a valuable planet. He landed in a farmer’s field and dismissed the farmer as weak after his Scouter measured a power level of 5.

  • Raditz had been raised as an upper-class Saiyan warrior and survived Planet Vegeta’s destruction while away with Vegeta and Nappa.
  • Raditz had gone to Earth to recruit Goku, but Goku refused, and Raditz was killed when Piccolo’s Special Beam Cannon struck him alongside Goku.
  • After dying, Raditz had passed the Dragon Ball information to Nappa and Vegeta, then caused trouble in Other World before King Yemma sent him to Hell.
  • Raditz descended to Earth in his spaceship, planning to find Kakarot and take him to seize a valuable planet.
  • A farmer saw Raditz’s spaceship land in his field, grabbed his hunting rifle, and called the Red Ribbon Army’s emergency rescue number.
  • Raditz scanned the farmer with his Scouter and called him “Trash with a power level of only 5.”

Ch. 2016Earth's Warriors After Six Years

Six years after He-El warned Earth of an alien invasion, Yamcha, Krillin, Chiaotzu, and Puar sensed a hostile Ki approaching and returned from Snake Way to Kami's Lookout. Yamcha and Krillin flew to confront the invader while Kami alerted Goku and Piccolo, and Chiaotzu went to find Tien Shinhan.

  • King Kai used Snake Way to train candidates for planetary Kami roles, while Goku, Piccolo, Tien Shinhan, Yamcha, Krillin, Chiaotzu, Puar, and others trained there and on Kais Planet.
  • Goku married Chi-Chi after winning the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament, and they had a son, Son Gohan, while Goku continued to train away from home.
  • Yamcha, Krillin, Chiaotzu, and Puar sensed a vicious, unfamiliar Ki entering Earth and recognized it as the invasion He-El had predicted six years earlier.
  • Kami greeted the group at Kami's Lookout and confirmed that the alien invasion had begun.
  • Chiaotzu flew toward the Red Ribbon Army to notify Tien Shinhan, while Yamcha and Krillin hurried to confront the invader themselves.
  • Kami, worried that the group might not be strong enough, notified Goku and Piccolo.

Ch. 2017Gold-Haired Lieutenant General Launch Faces Raditz

Goku and Piccolo raced back from Snake Way after Kami warned them that aliens had invaded Earth. Raditz attacked a Red Ribbon Army unit led by Lieutenant General Launch, destroyed three helicopters, and demanded to know where Kakarot was as Launch's surviving soldiers requested reinforcements.

  • Goku and Piccolo learned from Kami that aliens had invaded and raced toward Snake Way's entrance.
  • Raditz killed a farmer who fired a hunting rifle at him, then watched as Red Ribbon Army helicopters arrived.
  • Lieutenant General Launch ordered her soldiers to evacuate the wounded farmer and retreat while she confronted Raditz.
  • Raditz destroyed all three helicopters with Ki blasts and demanded to know where Kakarot was.
  • Launch's surviving soldiers contacted headquarters, which reported that Tien Shinhan was unavailable and said it would contact Master Roshi.

Ch. 2018Yamcha and Tien Shinhan

Yamcha and Tien Shinhan both rushed to confront Raditz, each believing the fight would prove the worth of He-El’s martial arts. They argued over who had the right to face the alien and ended the chapter on the verge of fighting each other.

  • Yamcha sensed He-El’s prophesied alien had arrived and hurried toward its landing site to prove his training.
  • Tien Shinhan sensed the alien and realized He-El had taught him martial arts so he could protect Earth; he met Chiaotzu, who had returned from training on Kais Planet.
  • Tien Shinhan and Chiaotzu flew toward Raditz’s landing site and encountered Yamcha and Puar on the way.
  • Yamcha claimed the right to fight the alien, but Tien Shinhan argued that he was still the Red Ribbon Army’s rotating general responsible for defending Earth.
  • Yamcha and Tien Shinhan each insisted the fight would prove He-El had judged them correctly, while Tien Shinhan invoked his former master, the Crane Hermit, as another reason to atone.
  • Yamcha rejected Tien Shinhan’s claims, and the rivals’ Ki collided as they drew close and prepared to fight over the alien.

Ch. 2019Arrival

Raditz confronted blonde Launch and prepared to kill her after learning that Earth did not know Kakarot. Yamcha and Tien Shinhan raced to stop him, but their rivalry continued until Yamcha sent Tien flying toward Launch.

  • Raditz grew furious when blonde Launch did not recognize Kakarot and concluded that his brother had failed to conquer Earth.
  • Blonde Launch endured Raditz's overwhelming shout and lowered her rifles while trying to calm him and stall for reinforcements.
  • Raditz rejected Launch's attempt to negotiate and gathered a Ki blast at his fingertip to attack her.
  • Puar and Chiaotzu argued over whether Yamcha or Tien Shinhan should reach Raditz first as the two fighters raced ahead while sparring.
  • Yamcha and Tien Shinhan saw Raditz aiming at Launch, and Yamcha struck Tien with an Impact Spirit Ball to propel him toward her.

Ch. 2020Confident Raditz

Tien Shinhan rescued blonde Launch from Raditz’s Ki blast, but he and Yamcha immediately fought over who would face the Saiyan. Raditz scanned the arriving Earth fighters and, confident in his 1500 power level, dismissed them as weak.

  • Tien Shinhan used the momentum from Yamcha’s Spirit Ball to rescue blonde Launch and told her to take the Red Ribbon Army soldiers to safety.
  • Blonde Launch left, and Tien Shinhan realized Yamcha had sent him far away so Yamcha could reach Raditz first.
  • Tien Shinhan flew back and attacked Yamcha, and the two fought over the chance to battle Raditz.
  • Raditz scanned Tien Shinhan and Yamcha, read their power levels as 1177 and 1150, and judged that his 1500 made him stronger.
  • Puar and Chiaotzu arrived arguing over which of their friends should fight Raditz, and Raditz scanned them at 845 and 864.
  • Krillin flew in, and Raditz’s Scouter showed his power level was 1040.

Ch. 2021Krillin: He Doesn't Seem Very Strong

Krillin attacked Raditz before Tien Shinhan or Yamcha could claim the fight, then used decoy Ki blasts and an Afterimage Strike to knock Raditz through his spaceship. He held back from pursuing, uncertain about the gap between Raditz’s strength and his own, while Tien Shinhan and Yamcha flew over angrily.

  • Krillin abandoned the contest between Tien Shinhan and Yamcha and launched a barrage of Ki bullets at Raditz.
  • Raditz dodged the blasts and rushed behind Krillin to strike him, but Krillin’s afterimage made him miss.
  • Krillin concealed himself with his Ki and the sunlight, then kicked Raditz into the ground and through his spaceship.
  • Krillin sensed Raditz was much stronger and hesitated to follow up, wondering why Raditz’s Ki felt powerful but lacked the spirit he knew.
  • Tien Shinhan and Yamcha flew toward Krillin, furious that he had taken their opponent.
