Background
Hongjun was a Chaos Demon God in the Primordial Chaos Era before being slain by Pangu and reincarnating in the Primordial Era. His new foundation was an Innate Earthworm, though he kept this origin concealed from nearly all beings. His Chaos Demon God heritage, Grand Unity Dao Fruit, and fragments of the Jade Plate of Creation made him one of the era's foremost cultivators. 58 93 178
Before attaining Sagehood, Hongjun persistently investigated anomalies surrounding Di Jun, the Sun Star, Pangu, and the Monster Race. Even when joined by Yin Yang and Qiankun and using the fragmented Jade Plate of Creation, he could not deduce Di Jun's true nature; his deduction only revealed a connection to a black flame surpassing the Great Sun Golden Flame. 58
He established Purple Heaven Palace at Jade Capital Mountain and accepted Haotian, a Golden Crow born from a divine egg containing part of the Time Demon God's inheritance, as a registered disciple. Hongjun intended to cultivate Haotian toward a future position as Lord of the Three Realms. 114 116
Appearance
Hongjun appears as an ancient Daoist surrounded by profound Dao Rhyme, immortal music, and a pervasive fragrance. As a Sage, his presence becomes difficult for lesser beings to comprehend or even remember after looking away. 134 179
- Often wears a purple or ancient Daoist robe. 265 361
- Carries a bamboo staff. 143 191
- His eyes may manifest visions of universes being born and destroyed. 103
- His Sage manifestations include violet qi, falling Heavenly Flowers, Golden Lotuses, and auspicious light. 176 191
- After entrusting his Primordial Spirit to the Heavenly Dao, his temperament becomes markedly detached. 176
Personality
Hongjun is calculating, ambitious, and deeply committed to pursuing the Great Dao. He repeatedly seeks to uncover or suppress Pangu's influence, regarding Pangu's hidden plans as the central threat to his own path. 137 207
His pragmatism is particularly apparent when power or survival is at stake. He gave Hun Wu three strands of Primordial Violet Qi after failing to overcome him in the Chaos, secretly cooperated with Yang Mei to arrange Buzhou Mountain's destruction, and pressured the Six Sages to assist him after his unification with the Dao risked assimilation. 178 295 304
Following Sagehood, Heavenly Principles account for most of his disposition, making him increasingly aloof. Nevertheless, setbacks—especially those connected to Pangu, Lu Yang, and the Sun Star—can provoke anger, anxiety, and increasingly reckless schemes. 176 295 321
Abilities & Skills
Deduction and Heavenly Secret Calculation
Hongjun uses the Jade Plate of Creation Fragment and his Dao Fruit to investigate heavenly secrets, hidden origins, and major changes in the Primordial Era.
- Could calculate the Human Race's Dragon Qi and the rise of five Grand Unity Human Emperors. 88
- Identified Pangu's Power around Buzhou Mountain through Heavenly Eye observation and calculation. 103
- Failed to deduce Di Jun's complete nature despite cooperating with Yin Yang and Qiankun. 58
- His calculations are limited by the Jade Plate's incompleteness and by deliberately concealed heavenly secrets. 112 292
Three Corpses Method
Hongjun cultivates through slaying and unifying the Three Corpses, using them to accumulate magic power and comprehend the Dao.
- His Three Corpses appeared when he attained Sagehood. 176
- He later preached both the slaying and unification of the Three Corpses, while withholding portions of the method for favored disciples. 210
- His Three Corpses and merit formed the basis of his path to Sagehood, though this method initially had shortcomings. 210
Heavenly Dao Authority
After becoming a Sage and later unifying with the Dao, Hongjun can wield and channel Heavenly Dao power.
- Within the Primordial Era, he can teleport across the world at will. 207
- Heavenly Dao power greatly amplifies his magic power, divine sense, and combat ability. 177 183
- His will as the Second Primordial Era's Heavenly Dao can establish an immutable Heavenly Mandate. 362
- His power is reduced outside the world to which his Primordial Spirit is entrusted. 177 209
- His incomplete Primordial Concept leaves him vulnerable to assimilation by the Heavenly Dao. 295
Purple Heaven Divine Lightning
Hongjun created and employs Purple Heaven Divine Lightning as a principal offensive divine ability.
- Its power is comparable to Pangu's All-Heavenly Divine Lightning when wielded by his Heavenly Dao body. 360
- He can combine ten thousand lightning bolts into a single attack capable of threatening a Hunyuan Limitless Grand Unity Golden Immortal. 345
- His projections and avatars can use the lightning alongside Heavenly Dao power to suppress opponents. 178 181
Avatars and Projections
Hongjun can dispatch projections and avatars, though stronger avatars require a greater expenditure of his power.
- His projection fought Panhu at Buzhou Mountain during his first sermon. 181
- An early-stage Hunyuan Grand Unity Golden Immortal avatar was sent to recover his Inner Demon from the Sun Star. 296 297
- His avatars possess rapid recovery because they are avatars of the Heavenly Dao. 297
- In the Second Primordial Era, he dispatched a Heavenly Dao avatar to investigate and invade Primordial Era No. 1. 360 361
Creation and World Evolution
Hongjun specializes in the Law of Creation and can create worlds in the Outer Chaos.
- Created the Great Thousand World of Purple Heaven one Chaos Light Year from the Primordial Era. 177 178
- Stabilized his new world by applying hundreds and then thousands of Laws, evolving Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, celestial bodies, and living beings. 177
- Created Purple Heaven Palace's two young jade attendants to receive future listeners. 178
Great Dao Spiritual Light
Hongjun possesses a Great Dao Spiritual Light, an advanced form of spiritual light that functions as his final safeguard.
- It would allow him to be reborn even if he self-detonated alongside both Primordial Eras. 369
- He has not fully mastered it, limiting its usefulness in direct combat. 369
- Its appearance exposed the contingency behind his attempted self-destruction while trapped in the Void Furnace. 369

Story Role / Major Arcs
Investigations into Di Jun and the Sun Star
Hongjun becomes suspicious of Di Jun after the Monster Race Heavenly Court receives vast merit. He fails to uncover Di Jun's true nature, but his deduction links Di Jun to an unknown black flame stronger than the Great Sun Golden Flame. 57 58
He later becomes increasingly wary of the Sun Star, especially after Rahula's terror before Heavenly Punishment. To investigate it indirectly, Hongjun separates and seals his Inner Demon on the Sun Star—unaware that Lu Yang intends to use it to obtain his cultivation methods and secrets. 168
Sagehood and Purple Heaven Palace
After roughly a million years of seclusion, Hongjun refines Primordial Violet Qi, becomes the Primordial Era's first Sage, and entrusts his Primordial Spirit to the Heavenly Dao. He announces that Purple Heaven Palace will open for those fated to hear the Dao. 176
He relocates Purple Heaven Palace to the Great Thousand World of Purple Heaven in the Outer Chaos, then preaches the Immortal Dao and the Five Immortals of the Mystic Gate to visiting divine beings. 177 179 180
Unification with the Dao
Hongjun seeks to unify with the Primordial Heavenly Dao to become Heavenly Dao Hongjun and secure himself against Pangu. Although his plan initially appears successful, he discovers the complete Primordial Concept is missing, leaving him unable to resist eventual assimilation. 231 289 295
Desperate to survive, he seeks aid from the Six Sages, supports the upgrade of an otherworldly realm, and secretly works with Yang Mei to weaken the Primordial Era by arranging Buzhou Mountain's destruction. 295 304
Conflict with Lu Yang
Hongjun's avatar attempts to enter the Sun Star to retrieve his Inner Demon but is intercepted by ten Quasi-Sage Golden Crows and their arrays. The encounter reveals that the Golden Crows are all avatars of a single unknown entity, deepening Hongjun's suspicions of Pangu and the Sun Star. 297 298
As the Witch-Demon Calamity concludes, Hongjun becomes increasingly desperate. He sends a Chaos Demon God's skeleton to destroy the Sun Star, but Lu Yang's Good and Evil Corpses trap and refine it; Hongjun's avatar self-destructs without breaking the array. 321
Second Primordial Era and Fall
In a parallel Primordial Era, Hongjun becomes a Dao Integrator, defeats Taishang during the merger of two worlds, and absorbs rule fragments to become the New Heavenly Dao of the Second Primordial Era. 360
During the Second Primordial Era's invasion of Primordial Era No. 1, Hongjun faces the First Era's Heavenly Dao, Lu Yang, and enormous Golden Crow armies. Lu Yang traps him in the Void Furnace, where Hongjun's power steadily declines despite his Great Dao Spiritual Light. 365 369 371
As the Second Primordial Era breaks apart and its Sages abandon their Sage Positions, Hongjun loses the Primordial Spirits entrusted to him. The Void Furnace continues refining him, culminating in his fall. 371 373
