Power Progression
- Physical power and cultivation realm are distinct: the Sun Star’s body grows with the Primordial World, while Lu Yang’s Primordial Spirit and Dao comprehension can advance independently. His late-stage Hunyuan breakthrough does not increase his body cultivation 3 292.
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Initial Sun Star body; body cultivation unmeasured | 1 | Already possesses overwhelming physical power, Sun True Fire, and Great Sun Golden Flame, but Lu Yang initially cannot control his body and has no Primordial Spirit. |
| Sun Primordial Spirit condensed | 3 | Formed after several dozen Primordial Days; described as more yang than Pure Yang. |
| Grand Unity-level Primordial Spirit cultivation | 15 | Reached by the time Lu Yang receives Merit, God-Demon Essence Blood, and the complete God-Demon Body Refinement technique from a slain Fierce Beast. |
| Qianyuan Dao Fruit | 38 | Documented as Lu Yang’s current Dao attainment; he has not yet attained the Grand Unity Dao Fruit. |
| Grand Unity Dao Fruit | 42 52 | Attained through Lu Ya’s enlightenment; later explicitly recorded as Lu Yang’s Dao cultivation level. |
| Body cultivation exceeding three million Calamities’ worth of Magic Power | 52 | His Primordial Spirit cultivation possesses barely one Calamity’s worth, demonstrating the disparity between body and spirit. |
| Partial Heavenly Dao authority | 75 | Obtained through enlightenment in Pangu’s Dao after Panhu receives the Axe Shadow from the Pangu Core. |
| Grand Unity Dao Charm | 77 | Attained while Lu Yang refines four Merit swords representing Earth, Water, Fire, and Wind. |
| Hunyuan Grand Unity Golden Immortal | 162 | Confirmed attained by this chapter; further progress increasingly depends on Dao comprehension rather than cultivation methods. |
| Late-stage Hunyuan Grand Unity Golden Immortal | 292 | Advances from the middle stage in less than a day. Primordial Spirit cultivation increases greatly; body cultivation remains unchanged. |
| Peak Hunyuan Grand Unity Golden Immortal | 325 | Breaks through silently while the six Sages also advance. |
| Hunyuan Limitless Grand Unity Golden Immortal | 337 | Breaks through the realm’s bottleneck; the Sages sense the advancement and become alarmed. |
| Origin expanded to include the Moon Star | 339 341 363 | Lu Yang begins expanding his foundation beyond the Sun Star; subsequent passages confirm that both Sun and Moon are his Origin. |
| Origin manifested through hundreds of millions of Golden Crow avatars | 366 | Grand Unity Golden Immortal- and Quasi-Sage-level avatars form a Sun Array and attack the Second Primordial Era. |
Background / History
The Sun Star originates from Pangu’s left eye, while the Moon Star originates from his right. Lu Yang, a businessman who dies in a plane crash, awakens as the Sun Star near the beginning of the Primordial World, before the Heavenly Dao has fully developed. His consciousness inhabits an enormous fireball rather than a humanoid body 1.
Initially unable to control his body, Lu Yang observes the world below and studies the developing Heavenly Dao. To escape the isolation of his new existence, he plans to create Three-legged Golden Crow avatars after condensing a Primordial Spirit 1 3.
The Sun Star’s living nature remains concealed for much of the story. Visitors instead suspect that an unknown Great Expert, a Heavenly Dao Killing Array, or Pangu’s Dao Fruit is hidden there. Even after its consciousness is exposed, Hongjun and the Sages mistakenly identify Lu Yang as Pangu 41 298 320.
Geography & Environment
Position and Scale
- Celestial position: occupies the star sea at the pinnacle of the Heavenly Realm. As the Primordial World grows, the Sun rises higher 36.
- Radiance: illuminates more than half of the Primordial World 7.
- Mountain ranges: the largest mountain is no smaller than Mount Sumeru. One crimson range extends hundreds of billions of li east to west and tens of billions of li across at its widest point 168.
- Interior: contains trillions of spaces of varying sizes. Lu Yang’s Sun Primordial Spirit resides in the largest 77.
- Core: used to engulf the World-Ending Millstone in Great Sun Golden Flame and World-Ending Blaze 24.
Environmental Hazards
| Region / Hazard | Characteristics |
|---|---|
| Nine-layered flame barrier | Surrounds the Sun Star as a consequence of the Primordial World’s rules, rather than a barrier deliberately created by Lu Yang 132. |
| Outer fire sea | Crimson flames and temperatures that Heavenly Immortals cannot withstand 114. |
| Surface | Covered in Innate Spiritual Fire, Li Fire, and Ding Fire. Flame pillars can rise more than ten thousand zhang, and many hazards exceed what Mystic Immortal-level Magic Power can withstand 3. |
| Lava and fire curtains | Lava flows can produce descending curtains of fire tens of thousands of zhang high 4. |
| Sun True Fire | Golden-red flame more tyrannical than the Phoenix Clan’s Southern Bright Li Fire; several Mystic Immortals cannot withstand it 4. |
| Interior magma and fire seas | More dangerous than the surface, allowing far fewer beings to survive 7 156. |
| Sun Origin | Intensely hot and capable of reducing all things in heaven and earth to ash 129. |
Habitability
- Three-legged Golden Crows can survive on the Sun Star even without cultivation 114.
- Fire Phoenixes, Bi Fang, and Vermillion Birds cannot fully adapt to its environment despite their fire-related Origins 114.
- Extraordinary vegetation grows in some areas, though other mountain ranges are entirely bare 46 168.
- Early visitors rarely settle: even Phoenixes find the flames too intense for prolonged stays. Later residents include Xihe, who establishes a cave dwelling after becoming a Sun Deity 5 132.
- Calamity refugees eventually seek shelter on the surface, but must contend with the Archaic Poison Dragon 156.
Abilities & Skills
Solar Fire and Magic Power
- Sun True Fire can contend with laws, divine abilities, and Innate Spiritual Treasures 5.
- Great Sun Golden Flame is substantially stronger: a tiny spark destroys half an invading Heavenly Demon’s body 5.
- Golden Magic Power can manifest giant hands and other incarnations to suppress intruders 4 5.
- During the six Sages’ assault, a hand formed from Great Sun Golden Flame intercepts multiple strands of Chaos Sword Qi from the Immortal Slaying Sword Formation 326.
Perception and Concealment
- Pangu’s left-eye Origin allows Lu Yang to observe the entire Primordial World 1.
- Every visitor’s movements on the Sun Star fall within his perception 5.
- Concealed Primordial Great Arrays hide treasures and heavenly secrets; blocking a Quasi-Sage’s divine sense poses no difficulty 5.
- Lu Yang’s divine sense can cover his entire body without Hongjun detecting it, even when Hongjun visits the surface 167.
Avatar Support and Rebirth
- Golden Crow avatars can borrow the Sun Star’s Magic Power, including to breach barriers beyond their own strength 30.
- Lu Yang can recall Lu Ya from the Primordial Great Earth through sunlight teleportation at negligible cost 26.
- Sun Origin is expended to create avatars and upgrade their innate foundations 52.
- The myriad Three-legged Golden Crow avatars remain bound to the Sun Star and are reborn there if killed 370.
Sun Deity Transformation
- The Sun Star can transform a Moon Star being’s Origin into a solar Origin. Xihe accepts this change by placing a wisp of her Primordial Spirit within it 132.
- Xihe becomes a Sun Deity and a Three-legged Golden Toad embodying Fire and Ice laws 132.
- Drawing on the Sun Star can increase her strength more than tenfold, but borrowing its power becomes difficult when she leaves 132.
Internal Space-Time Control
- Lu Yang can distort the Sun Star’s space-time through the Laws of Time and Space, preventing Hongjun’s Inner Demon from escaping 169.
- He accelerates time inside his body so that tens of thousands of years pass for him in less than one surface day 169.
- Despite its connection to the Primordial Time River, the Sun Star can initially control only a tiny “ripple” within it 113.
Sunlight Divine Water
- Lu Yang can produce vast quantities of Sunlight Divine Water with a thought 5.
- It is one component of Three Lights Divine Water; the Sun Star alone cannot produce the Moonlight and Starlight components 5.
Cosmological Role & Limitations
| Principle | Effect |
|---|---|
| Growth with the world | The Sun Star naturally becomes stronger as the Primordial World develops, without deliberate body cultivation 3 46. |
| Sun–Moon–Stars balance | Independently accelerating its physical growth disrupts the Moon Star first, then the other stars, potentially throwing the entire starry sky into chaos 7 297. |
| Body-refinement restriction | An early attempt at God-Demon Body Refinement creates a Spiritual Qi storm and makes sunlight flicker across the Great Earth. Lu Yang stops before provoking Heavenly Dao punishment 7. |
| Transfer of cultivation gains | Refinement becomes workable when its gains are redirected to Golden Crow Eggs and avatars outside the Primordial World rather than retained in the Sun Star 138 139 297. |
| Restricted movement | Moving the Sun Star affects everything connected to it. Taking his main body to the Moon Star would cause a Sun–Moon collision with catastrophic consequences 49 326. |
| Heavenly Dao protection | Its importance, Merit, and Destiny earn consideration from the Heavenly Dao and make damaging or destroying it costly 131 185 320. |
| Dependence on the Moon Star | The loss of a small portion of Moon Origin temporarily halts the growth of Lu Yang’s body cultivation for more than a month 131. |
| Essential sunlight | When the six Sages block its light, beings throughout the Three Realms and Six Paths experience darkness, panic, and disruption; the Sages incur Karma 326. |
| Replacement difficulty | Recreating a suitable sun for the upgraded Primordial World would be difficult even for all six Sages working together 325 326. |
Treasures & Resources
Native Treasures
- Chaos Bell / Eastern Emperor Bell — an Innate Supreme Treasure and one of the three Creation artifacts derived from the Pangu Axe. It receives special protection within the Sun Star 2 5 67.
- River Diagram and Luo Book — Supreme Innate Spiritual Treasures originally located on the Sun Star; later wielded by Di Jun 2 38.
- Fusang Tree — an Innate Spiritual Root located on the Sun Star, while Tang Valley by the Eastern Sea is initially bare 2.
- Innate refining materials — abundant mineral deposits draw visiting Great Experts seeking materials for artifact creation 7 168.
Stored or Refined Within the Sun Star
- World-Ending Millstone — transported to the core by Lu Ya with Shen Ni’s remnant soul still inside 24.
- Four Earth, Water, Fire, and Wind swords — forged as Top-grade Merit Spiritual Treasures using the Good Fortune Cauldron; their creation consumes roughly one-tenth of Lu Yang’s Merit 77.
- Kunlun Mirror — retrieved by Lu Ya from West Kunlun and refined by Lu Yang’s Dharma Body on the Sun Star 115.
- Immortal Slaying Sword Formation treasures — the Immortal Slaying, Slaughtering Immortal, and Trapping Immortal swords, plus the formation diagram, are gathered inside it; the Absolute Immortal Sword remains missing at that point 190.
- Flag of Ultimate Demise — a flawed treasure possessing an Innate Supreme Treasure’s aura lands on the Sun Star and is claimed by Di Jun 238.
- Sun Pot — buried by Hongjun to contain his Inner Demon; Lu Yang erases its ownership imprint and restrains the released demon himself 168.
Inhabitants & Associated Figures
- Lu Yang — the Sun Star’s consciousness and Primordial Spirit; the celestial body is his actual body, not merely his residence 1 168.
- Lu Ya — Lu Yang’s first Golden Crow avatar; travels between the Sun Star and the lower realm and retrieves treasures for the main body 15 26 115.
- Di Jun — Lu Yang’s second avatar and the Monster Race’s Heavenly Emperor. Maintains a dojo at the Sun Palace 38 56 238.
- Donghuang Taiyi — a Golden Crow avatar created with Grand Unity-level Origin; wields the Eastern Emperor Bell and draws on the Sun Star’s power 52 67.
- Xihe — former Moon Star being who becomes a Sun Deity and establishes a cave dwelling on the Sun Star 132.
- Archaic Poison Dragon — a native being whose Origin is tied to the Sun Star. Its life and death are under Lu Yang’s control; destroying it would eventually lead to another being born under the Heavenly Dao 118.
- Hongjun’s Inner Demon — imprisoned within the Sun Star after Hongjun attempts to seal it there. Its power is later drained through the Heavenly Demon Realm to nurture Chaos Golden Crows 168 297.
- Wangshu — visits to confront Xihe and the Archaic Poison Dragon; the Sun Star’s heat makes her uncomfortable despite her Quasi-Sage cultivation 151 152.
- Yang Mei — visits seeking Shi Chen and is deceived by Di Jun into believing that Lu Yang is the Time Demon God in seclusion 46 47.
Story Role / Major Arcs

| Chaos Golden Crow plan | Lu Ya secretly places stolen Moon Origin into Xihe and directs her toward the Sun Star. Her solar transformation assists Lu Yang’s plans, while cultivation gains are routed to the Chaos Golden Crow outside the world 131 132 138 139. |
| Hongjun’s Inner Demon | Lu Yang captures the demon, reads its knowledge, and has eighty-one Archaic Star Steles distributed across the Great Earth with Hongjun’s methods inscribed on them 168 169. |
| Great Sun Tathagata scheme | The Three Pure Ones strengthen its connection to the Sun Star and embed three thousand Heavenly Dao Divine Talismans in the Sun Origin to trigger a future backlash. Their plan instead grants the Great Sun Tathagata immense power 248 249. |
| Exposure as a living being | Ten Quasi-Sage Golden Crows and the Cosmic Stars Great Array delay Hongjun’s avatar. The six Sages investigate and uncover the Sun Star’s living nature 296 297 298. |
| Attempts at destruction | Hongjun’s Chaos Demon God skeleton is intercepted and refined by Lu Yang’s Good and Evil Corpses. The six Sages subsequently seal the Sun Star and attack it, but cannot gain the upper hand 321 326. |
| Expansion of Origin | After reaching Hunyuan Limitless Grand Unity Golden Immortal, Lu Yang begins with the Moon Star and plans to extend his foundation through the starry sky, Heavenly Realm, lower world, and Netherworld 337 339 341. |
| Second Primordial Era conflict | Hundreds of millions of Golden Crow avatars manifest from Lu Yang’s expanded Origin and form the Sun Array. Their solar manifestations rapidly revive, though Hongjun weakens the array using Profound Yin power from the Moon Star 366 367. |
Second Primordial Era Counterpart
- The Second Primordial Era originally possesses its own Sun Star and Moon Star. Hongjun summons both to the First Primordial Era and subsequently cannot recall them 362 363.
- Their absence destabilizes stellar orbits and the Three Realms, making replacement urgent 363.
- Hongjun orders a Chaos Golden Crow to create replacements. With Heavenly Dao assistance, the new Sun and Moon advance through low-, middle-, and high-level Hunyuan World standards before reaching the top-tier standard required by that world 363.
Trivia
- Lu Yang defines one Wu of Merit as enough Merit to cover the Sun Star; his early accumulation exceeds three Wu 2.
- During the forging of the four Merit swords, eighty-one days on the Sun Star equal eighty-one years on the Primordial Great Earth 77.
- Lu Yang once considers making a Golden Crow his main body and relegating the Sun Star to an avatar, though he later pursues expansion of his existing Origin instead 42 339.
