Background / History

Wumu was held in the deepest level of the Great Berlin City-State’s Blood Prison for twenty-five years. He claimed to have eaten eighteen jailers during his confinement, yet had never managed to escape. Isolation left him desperate for conversation; he initially antagonized Yin Xuege through the vent between their cells. 12

When Yin Xuege killed Leitning and created disorder in the prison, Wumu dragged a jailer through the narrow ventilation opening and devoured him. He later tried to force Yin Xuege to free him, but was incapacitated by the Blood Prison’s amplified lightning defenses. 14 15

Jiang Tuochen’s rescue party was prepared to kill Wumu along with the prison’s other witnesses. Yin Xuege intervened, offering to spare him if he became his follower. Under threat of a Heavenly Thunder Bead, Wumu provided an Essence Blood oath; Jiang Tuochen transformed it into a Soul Master-Servant Contract, making Wumu Yin Xuege’s Blood Servant. 19 20

After returning to the Yin Clan City-State, Wumu repeatedly protected Yin Xuege, including defeating Yin Xuejiao’s peak Night Warrior guard and confronting Yin Jiwu. He subsequently served in Yin Xuege’s forces during the assault on Fanlu'er City. 22 23 34 35

Appearance

Wumu can shift between a giant werewolf form and a human form.

• Werewolf form — Over three meters tall, covered in silver fur, with emerald-green eyes and a wolf-like head; moves fast enough to leave numerous afterimages. 20
• Human form — A burly, rugged man about two meters tall with long silver hair and heavily developed musculature. 22
• Claws — Can extend silver claws roughly two feet long from his fingers. 22
• Eyes — His green eyes are repeatedly described as ghastly or emerald-colored. 12 20

Personality

Wumu is loud, crude, boastful, and intensely proud of being a werewolf. He reacts furiously when called a dog or when his status as a Silver Wolf Commander is dismissed, even while switching quickly to flattery when his survival depends on it. 12 18 19

Despite his bluster, he is opportunistic and practical. He accepted Yin Xuege’s master-servant contract rather than die in prison, then rapidly embraced the material security and freedom that came with serving him. 19 20

He is protective of Yin Xuege in battle, but his loyalty is paired with a vulgar appetite for violence and a persistent desire to pursue Fennice. His foul-mouthed public encouragement during the Yin Clan martial arts competition was disruptive enough for Yin Clan experts to remove and silence him. 22 30 34
