Overview

The Great Berlin City-State is one of the few super mortal city-states. It has a population of hundreds of millions, occupies a vast territory, and fields countless Demon Hunters and powerful weapons; even ordinary Yin Clan powerhouses avoid approaching it carelessly 7.

Its main city alone holds more than 200 million civilians. The city stretches for thousands of miles, is divided into tens of thousands of districts, and is protected by a metal wall hundreds of meters high that extends for thousands of kilometers 44 46.

Government

The city-state's highest governing body is based at the Executive Mansion on Government Hill, a mountainous core district with thousand-meter peaks and metallic government buildings 46.

Defenses and Military

City Walls and Barrier

Great Berlin's metal walls are fitted with giant lamps that sweep the surroundings with searchlights. Detected nocturnal beasts can be destroyed by explosive red-light weapons launched from the wall 7.

During the Yin Clan's later bombardment, the wall's defensive barrier produced brilliant halos and golden characters, successfully withstanding mortar fire that had devastated Fanlu'er City 43.

Blood Prison

The Blood Prison is Great Berlin's most heavily guarded prison. Reaching its deepest interrogation hall requires passing at least one hundred layers of restrictions and formations; even Great Chancellors would need three to five days to force their way through 17.

Despite these defenses, Jiang Rusheng infiltrates the prison, while a later white-mist incursion renders its guards unconscious 17 18.

Economy and Territory

Great Berlin relies heavily on Fanlu'er City, a reclamation point more than 700 kilometers away. Fanlu'er has a population exceeding one million and provides fish, mining output, gold, silver, and vital metal supplies for Great Berlin's walls and war industry 33.

History

Yin Clan Infiltration

The Yin Clan considers Great Berlin a dangerous intelligence target because of its scale, Demon Hunters, and followers of the Light God Cult. Yin Xuege is assigned to infiltrate the city, contact Yin Clan informants, and retrieve several months of intelligence 7.

Yin Xuege and two escorts enter through sewers while evading surveillance devices and traps. Within the city, they find a smoky, violent metropolis where criminal violence and armed groups are commonplace 7 8. They use Captain Jack's Tavern, a Yin Clan stronghold and black market, as their base 8 9.

Following a raid on the tavern, Great Berlin security forces discover evidence suggesting Blood Demon involvement. Yin Xuege is eventually captured and imprisoned in the Blood Prison, where the city's authorities identify him as a Sunwalker 9 11 16.

Fall of Fanlu'er City

The Yin Clan launches Operation “Startled Insects,” sending a massive hunting force to encroach on Great Berlin territory and capture Blood Servants and Blood Slaves 33. Its first major target is Fanlu'er City.

Yin Clan hybrid bombs—combining human explosives with cultivation crystals—erase a three-mile stretch of Fanlu'er's wall, destroy barrier towers, and inflict massive casualties. The city's local resistance collapses, though Great Berlin elites and Hunters attempt to continue fighting 35 36.

The subsequent destruction of Fanlu'er's factory district and arsenal eliminates its metal-smelting capability, creating a severe supply problem for Great Berlin's weapons production 37. The Yin Clan captures more than 500,000 Fanlu'er residents, seizes extensive resources, and hunts those who flee 42.

Assault on Great Berlin

After Fanlu'er's fall, the Yin Clan deliberately marches close to Great Berlin's walls and conducts a probing bombardment. The city does not initially commit its senior powerhouses, while its defensive barrier prevents the mortar attack from breaching the walls 42 43.

Yin Tianjue later uses the Supreme Pure Qian Yuan One Qi Primordial Heaven-Opening Blood Thunder to break a southern wall section. An army exceeding 300,000 advances into the city, while captured civilians and soldiers are driven before the Blood Demon forces 45.

The breach results in the rout or capture of tens of thousands of elite troops, the capture of more than one hundred Executive Mansion-affiliated young elites, and the loss of millions of civilians across dozens of districts 46.

Executive Mansion Trap and Betrayal

Fainlan allows the Yin Clan's advance to continue as part of a plan to destroy the invaders. With aid from the Jiang Clan and five Grand Arbiters from Milan City-State, the Executive Mansion deploys the Myriad Cloud Smoke Immortal Slaying Demon Suppressing Six Harmonies Killing Array 46.

The formation traps Yin Tianjue, Yin Xuege, and tens of thousands of Yin Clan troops. However, Garbo D of Milan City-State and two other Grand Arbiters are revealed as Yin Clan Blood Servants; their betrayal allows the formation to be dismantled 48 50.

After the array falls, the Yin Clan claims the central treasury and captures Fainlan 50.
