Ch. 715God of Elven Agility and Rogues

After Soren rescued the hunters, the elven patrol counted its losses and withdrew while an elven Rogue and a disguised Drow investigated the battlefield for rival divine schemes. Soren joined the hunters and prepared to make a bloody sacrifice to attract the God of Hunt’s attention.

  • The elven captain learned that seven elves had died and six were wounded, then ordered the patrol to report the hunters’ tokens and request reinforcements.
  • An elven Rogue marked the battlefield and left, using his connection to Aerifen Ilashir, the God of Elven Agility and Rogues.
  • A Drow disguised as a Surface Elf found the mark and sent a Spell message about the hunters interfering with the Spider Queen’s plan to target Aerifen Ilashir.
  • Soren used a trick to join the hunters, who could not tell whether he truly worshipped Malar.
  • Soren prepared to make a bloody sacrifice to attract the God of Hunt’s attention.

Ch. 716Blood of the Unicorn

Soren entered a Malarite hunter camp under the name Soros and learned that the hunters planned to capture a Holy Unicorn for its Legendary Blood. The hunters prepared to hunt the beast in the southern forest, while Soren grew wary of Malar’s strength.

  • Rondeck told the camp’s leader that Elf patrol guards had killed the rest of their group and introduced Soren as Soros, a hunter and servant of Malar.
  • Soren saw the corpse of a ranger devoted to Mielikki, whom the orcs said they had killed for spying on the camp.
  • Soren considered Malar a suitable target because the god had few allies, but he suspected Malar’s many enemies had not defeated him because of his formidable combat power.
  • At night, the camp leader announced Malar’s demand for more Legendary Blood and pointed out a Holy Unicorn in the southern forest as their next prey.
  • The hunters agreed to pursue the Holy Unicorn, hoping its blood would earn them Malar’s reward.

Ch. 717Unicorn Goddess

Soren observed that the Hunt Church’s battle-hardened followers had suffered fewer losses than their enemies and wondered whether their hunting portfolio helped them grow stronger. He joined the hunters’ planned raid on a unicorn, but intended for the elves to discover them and kill most of the hunting party.

  • Soren examined the hunters’ camp and found that its followers were unusually powerful, including a quasi-legendary orc and five high-tier hunters.
  • The hunters performed a ritual with the skull of a slain enemy, which they believed could transfer some of the victim’s strength to the killer.
  • The hunters organized a fourteen-person expedition to hunt a unicorn, a creature protected by Lurue and hated by Malar.
  • The hunters approached the elven forest at night, planning a quick raid, while Soren hoped the elves would discover them and kill more than half their party.

Ch. 718Stealing the Spoils

Malar’s hunters ambushed a holy unicorn at a forest lake, but elven Wind Stalkers arrived and attacked them. The orc leader escaped with the unicorn’s corpse as an offering, leaving his followers behind to fight the elves.

  • Malar’s hunters waited by the lake for a unicorn, while one of their number secretly slipped away.
  • A holy unicorn arrived, and the hunters wounded her with arrows and trapped her in a metal net.
  • The hunters’ attack interrupted the unicorn’s magic and left her gravely wounded.
  • Elven Wind Stalkers arrived and killed two hunters, but one hunter killed the unicorn to end her suffering.
  • The orc leader seized the unicorn’s corpse and escaped into the forest while his followers stayed behind to hold off the elves.

Ch. 719Where Did the Divinity Go?!

Soren killed the fleeing Hunters and kept the Holy Unicorn’s Divinity before the survivors offered its empty corpse to Malar. The failed sacrifice left Malar furious, and Elf Rangers attacked the confused Hunters as Soren considered the God of Hunt’s power.

  • Soren tracked down and quietly killed the surviving Hunters who had fled after the battle.
  • Soren returned to the Hunters’ camp, where the survivors began a Sacrificial Ritual for Malar using the Holy Unicorn’s corpse.
  • Malar’s Avatar became enraged when the offering provided almost no power and killed the Orc Boss and the two Gnoll Hunters conducting the ritual.
  • Soren’s stolen Divinity and Soul Energy left Malar with only the Holy Unicorn’s empty shell, causing the sacrifice to fail.
  • Elf Rangers attacked the Hunters’ camp while Soren sensed that Malar’s [Hunt] Portfolio let him absorb Soul Energy and Divine Essence.

Ch. 720A Chance Encounter

Soren investigated Malar’s weakened state and considered tracking him down, while Lulumiao met Selune under the moonlight in Frostleaf City. Lulumiao refused to leave Vivian, so Selune blessed her and named herself her protector.

  • Soren concluded that Malar was weakened, hiding deep in the wilderness, and might be vulnerable to an attack.
  • Lulumiao sat on a rooftop in Frostleaf City, missing Port Nyanzaru while Vivian worked to take control of the Cult of Fear.
  • Selune appeared beside Lulumiao and asked her to leave with her.
  • Lulumiao refused because she wanted to stay with Vivian and help her defeat a powerful enemy.
  • Selune gave Lulumiao a blessing, identified herself as her protector, and disappeared.

Ch. 721Crusade Against a God

Soren followed reports of strange events to a forest where the Silver Moon Stalkers and other allies were attacking Malar, the God of Hunt. He found the attackers wielding an Artifact, and the chapter ended with him recognizing Pale Justice in a Paladin’s hand.

  • Soren learned that a fissure had opened in the ruins of Silverymoon, revealing a chamber rumored to contain the Tattoo Enchantment technique.
  • Soren tracked the Silver Moon Stalkers through a forest littered with the bodies of Elves, beasts, and Lycanthropes, and found evidence that an Artifact had killed a Legendary Werewolf.
  • Soren discovered a dead Paladin and hurried toward Malar’s altar, where a battle had erupted between the God of Hunt and several groups of his enemies.
  • Soren saw a Legendary Paladin, a Legendary Monk, Silver Moon Stalkers, priests, a Druid, and a Ranger fighting Malar and his hunters.
  • Soren recognized Pale Justice in the Paladin’s hand as the weapon that had slain the Legendary Werewolf.

Ch. 722Pale Justice

Soren observed the stalemated battle on the altar, where Pale Justice made Malar wary of the Legendary Professionals attacking him. Malar remained on the defensive but had not yet used any of his Domains, and Soren realized the God of Hunt was waiting for an opening.

  • Soren recognized Pale Justice and recalled the divine sword’s humble origin and its power against evil.
  • The chapter described Pale Justice’s artifact properties and how Paladins had repeatedly reclaimed it, whatever the cost.
  • Soren assessed Malar as a melee-focused deity who likely lacked Wizard Spells such as Time Stop.
  • The Broken Ones Monk used Flurry of Blows and Solar Flare Style to attack Malar in a rapid sequence.
  • Malar dodged Pale Justice and endured the other professionals’ attacks, while Soren realized he was waiting to use his Domains.

Ch. 723True God Realm

God of Hunt-Malar broke the heroes’ encirclement by revealing his artifact and unleashing his domains and overwhelming strength. He killed one cleric and charged after the remaining cleric as the battle continued under the effects of his Chaos and Evil domains.

  • God of Hunt-Malar revealed his Tier 3 artifact, Claws of the Beast, and used it to parry Pale Justice.
  • God of Hunt-Malar activated his Strength domain and smashed the ground, shattering the altar and blasting his attackers away.
  • God of Hunt-Malar tore apart the cleric of the God Who Cries and declared that the hunter had become the prey.
  • God of Hunt-Malar ignored the other attackers and charged after the remaining cleric, who was multiclassed as a ranger.
  • God of Hunt-Malar activated his Chaos and Evil domains, imposing penalties on enemies and enhancing his own abilities.

Ch. 724The Hunt Portfolio

Soren watched Malar, the God of Hunt, use his domains and the Hunt Portfolio to overwhelm the Legendary Professionals. With the battle close to collapse, Soren wondered why the Princess had not arrived.

  • Malar activated the Chaos Domain and Evil Domain, giving himself a major advantage over the defenders.
  • The Paladin cast Protection from Evil, but Malar answered with Blasphemous Utterance and instantly killed the gravely wounded priest and Ranger.
  • Soren recognized that the attack was a Hunt Portfolio ability capable of executing gravely wounded targets.
  • Soren judged that the Legendary Professionals could last only about ten minutes and that Pale Justice was their best chance against Malar.
  • As the battle neared its end, Soren wondered why the Princess had not arrived.

Ch. 725Hunters and Prey

The Paladin wielding Pale Justice summoned an Outsider Servant, but Malar killed him with Power Word Kill and claimed the battle’s advantage. As Malar prepared to hunt the surviving Legendary Professionals through a Hunt Ritual, Soren readied himself to intervene, and the Princess finally arrived by Teleportation Spell.

  • A holy Paladin summoned an Outsider Servant, but Malar used the opening to wound him while the other Legendary Professionals fought the God of Hunt.
  • The Paladin sacrificed himself to strike Malar with Pale Justice and break his Divine Shield, but Malar killed him with Power Word Kill.
  • Malar let the survivors flee and declared that the hunters and prey had traded places, signaling his intent to perform a Hunt Ritual and grow stronger by killing them.
  • Soren recognized the danger of Malar’s Hunt Ritual and prepared to act, just as the Princess arrived through a Teleportation Spell.

Ch. 726Clash of Hidden Strengths

Soren stole Pale Justice and joined the Princess and the Legendary fighters in their assault on Malar. After Malar revealed his Tracking Portfolio and killed the Monk of the Broken Ones, Soren charged him head-on, leaving their duel unresolved.

  • Soren seized Pale Justice, endured its Divine Damage, and vanished with Shadow Hide as the Princess arrived and dispelled Malar’s protective Spells.
  • The Princess attacked with frost magic while the Legendary fighters struck, but Malar’s Divine Shield stopped their blows and his Divine Energy Shockwave drove them back.
  • Malar used Mark of Hunt to kill the Monk of the Broken Ones, then activated his Tracking Domain and nearly caught Soren.
  • Soren transformed with Slayer Shape, while the Princess’s Greater Shout briefly stunned Malar and Soren summoned an Air Elemental Elder and a Huge Fire Elemental.
  • Soren wielded Pale Justice and the Gith Silver Sword, then used Whirlwind Attack to launch a rapid assault on Malar.

Ch. 727Godslaying

Soren and the Princess joined forces to kill Malar after Soren survived the God of Hunt’s empowered Avatar Form. Malar’s Divinity scattered among them and others, while the Lady of Silver Moon claimed much of his Lycanthrope Portfolio and moon Domain.

  • Malar activated Avatar after Soren shattered his Divine Shield, greatly increasing his power and resistance.
  • Soren evaded Malar and stalled until his Avatar Form ended, while the Princess waited for her opening.
  • The Princess trapped Malar with Bigby's Grasping Hand, allowing Soren to kill him with a decapitating strike.
  • Malar’s Divinity divided among Soren, the Princess, and another combatant, while his Chaos Domain power formed a Divine Rank Shard.
  • The Lady of Silver Moon’s Avatar claimed much of Malar’s Lycanthrope Portfolio and moon Domain, displeasing Soren.

Ch. 728The Hunt and Slaughter

Soren killed Malar, the God of Hunt, but Selune claimed most of Malar’s Lycanthrope portfolio and Moon domain. After receiving the Hunt portfolio, Soren had to choose whether to keep it or convert it into the Slaughter domain.

  • Selune’s avatar took Malar’s Lycanthrope portfolio and Moon domain, acknowledged that she owed Soren a favor, and departed without fighting him.
  • Princess warned Soren that Selune was an ancient and powerful goddess, and Soren agreed that avoiding a confrontation had been wise.
  • Soren took Malar’s Claws of the Beast and Pale Justice, left the Legendary figures’ belongings untouched, and received Slaughter Experience and Divine Rank points for the kill.
  • Soren’s God Eater feat improved, drawing the attention of powerful beings across the Multiverse and increasing his Legendary Degree, Intimidation, Diplomacy, and God Slaying bonus.
  • Soren learned that he could absorb Malar’s Hunt portfolio or convert it into the Slaughter domain, and he faced the choice between immediate power and greater potential for growth.

Ch. 729Serious Conflict

Soren absorbed the parts of Malar’s power compatible with him, gaining the [Slaughter] Domain, [Tracking] Portfolio, [Evil] Domain, and a permanent Strength increase. Afterward, he extracted a Divine Rank Shard for Vivian, leaving himself with 30 points of Divine Rank Value and able to prepare for Lesser Divinity.

  • Soren converted the [Hunt] Domain into [Slaughter] and gained the [Tracking] Portfolio.
  • Soren failed to absorb Malar’s [Beasts] Portfolio and the [Animal], [Chaos], and [Moon] Domains, while the Lady of Silver Moon absorbed powers incompatible with him.
  • Soren gained the [Evil] Domain and [Evil Aura], and permanently increased his base Strength by 2.
  • Soren extracted a Divine Rank Shard containing 10 points of Divine Rank Value for Vivian.
  • Soren retained 30 points of Divine Rank Value and began preparing to advance to Lesser Divinity.

Ch. 730Changing Fate

After defeating Malar, Soren decided he could neither keep Pale Justice nor return it to the Order of the Lord of Radiance, so he entrusted the Artifact to the Holy Avengers. He left believing that giving them both Pale Justice and the Holy Avenger might change their fate in the coming battles.

  • After returning the Princess to the Holy Avenger's retreat, Soren weighed what to do with Pale Justice.
  • Soren met the Warden and chose the Holy Avengers because they valued order and ordinary people's lives.
  • Soren planted Pale Justice before the Warden, who recognized the divine sword and gratefully accepted it.
  • Soren left Pale Justice with the Holy Avengers, hoping that possessing two powerful Artifacts would alter their fate.

Ch. 731Eastern Realm

Vivian continued taking control of the Church of Fear while Soren gave her a Divine Rank Shard and promised to let her help in a future battle. Meanwhile, Soran was summoned to the Eastern Realm, where he resisted an Evil Creature’s attempt to control his mind.

  • Vivian ordered Cass to retrieve something sealed in the ruins of Amber City and Uther Blackrobe to purge the Church of Fear’s remaining rebels.
  • Soren visited Vivian, praised her efforts, and asked why she called herself the Fear Witch, but he did not press her when she hesitated.
  • Soren offered Vivian the Divine Rank Shard taken from the God of Hunt, and she accepted it after he promised to let her help next time.
  • Soren suddenly lost focus while standing with Vivian beneath the moon.
  • Soran was summoned from The Abyss to the Eastern Realm as a projected High-tier Demon, appearing before eleven adventurers and the Evil Creature that summoned him.
  • The Evil Creature tried to force Soran to kill the adventurers, but their clash of wills made it spit blood.

Ch. 732Medium-Well

Soran resisted the Phaerimm’s attempt to control his mind and fought it as a Fire Demon. He killed the mutant Phaerimm, gained one point of Divine Rank, and extracted its soul into a legendary-grade Soul Gem.

  • The Phaerimm tried to control Soran’s mind, so he unleashed his Body of Blazing Flames and drove the nearby professionals away.
  • Soran bound the Phaerimm with the Flame Whip of Balor and attacked it with his Vorpal Sword as it fought back with tentacles, venom, paralysis, and a mental shock.
  • Soran endured the Phaerimm’s attacks and burned it to death with his flames.
  • Soran received one point of Divine Rank for killing the Phaerimm and extracted its soul into a legendary-grade Soul Gem.
  • Soran turned to face the professionals who had watched him defeat the creature.

Ch. 733A Contract

Soran forced a group of professionals to offer one of their own as the price for their lives, then bound Chan to him with a contract that granted her fire immunity and the ability to summon demons. After sparing her companions, he flew off to explore the Eastern Realm before his time there ran out.

  • Soran emerged from the flames and decided that the sealed evil creatures in the Eastern Realm might provide divinity for him and his Demon Avatar.
  • Soran threatened the professionals, then offered to spare them if one person signed a contract with him.
  • Chan volunteered to sign, and Soran bound her with a contract of absolute control that let her summon him or demons under his command.
  • Soran confirmed that Chan had gained complete immunity to fire damage and allowed her companions to leave.
  • Soran checked that he could access Chan's vision and sense some of her thoughts, then flew away to explore the Eastern Realm.

Ch. 734Death God Ruin

After Soran departed, Chan discovered that their Demon Pact had made her immune to fire. Soran explored a ruined Temple of the Dead occupied by a powerful Wild Mage and suspected it had belonged to Myrkul, leaving a Spatial Beacon before his Demon Avatar had to return to The Abyss.

  • Soran vanished, and Chan realized the scorching ground no longer harmed her after signing the Demon Pact.
  • Soran surveyed the Eastern Realm and spotted a secluded Wild Mage's dwelling among ancient ruins.
  • Soran identified the ruins as a temple to a God of Death and considered whether the Wild Mage had become undead.
  • Soran examined the Death Pantheon's history and suspected the temple had belonged to Myrkul.
  • Soran left a Spatial Beacon at the ruins before his time as a Demon Avatar ran out.
