Background / History
Meeting Ning Qi and exploring the ruins
Xu Qingqiu explored ancient ruins separately from her master, martial uncles, and fellow disciples. She enjoyed being free of her elders’ restrictions and partnered with Ning Qi, exchanging divine-sense imprints through their jade pendants. Her maps of the formations and Prohibitions helped him uncover the route to the real mountain gate behind an illusory entrance 520 521.
The two shared their discoveries. Xu Qingqiu copied cultivation manuals into a Memory Spirit Stone for Ning Qi and explained how Qi-Blood Stones could power weapons without draining their wielder directly. Her explanation inspired him to use the blood-water in his Bronze Cauldron with the God Slaying Bow 521.
While searching deserted settlements, she persuaded an injured Nine-Tailed Cat to accept her as its master. She subsequently explored an underground passage with Ning Qi and recognized that moving hills on another continent were guiding them toward a destination 522 523.
Devil Creature and mountain trials
In a mist-covered Gobi Desert, Xu Qingqiu discovered that a Devil Creature had impersonated Ning Qi. Suspicious of its cold hand, she tested it with a question about their earlier exploration and slashed its arm when its answer exposed the deception. Surrounded by more beasts, she threatened to self-destruct; Ning Qi later rescued her 527 530.
She accompanied Ning Qi up a trial mountain despite reaching her normal limit around the seventieth step. Her talent and formation knowledge carried her roughly another dozen steps before she stopped, exhausted and bleeding from her forehead 529.
After Ning Qi disappeared at the summit, other climbers blamed him for their failed attempts and directed their anger toward Xu Qingqiu. She waited for his return but eventually left with her sect. She later explained that the sealed site and an approaching Twisted Monster had forced her departure 530 532 572.
Reunion and the branch division attack
Ning Qi eventually found Xu Qingqiu at the Myriad Sword Sect. Delighted by his arrival, she welcomed him, cooked for him, and explained her sect’s hierarchy, rival factions, and the Immortal Gate’s recruitment for the Boundary Sea Battlefield. She also concealed his connection to Di Xi’s inheritance to prevent trouble with her master 572 574.
During their subsequent travels, they discovered that her sect’s branch division had been massacred and Gao Yunze and several disciples were captives. Xu Qingqiu warned Ning Qi against accepting an Evil Qi pill offered by the attackers. After he defeated them, she returned with Gao Yunze to report the incident to the sect 584 585.
Xu Qingqiu then served as a contact for Ning Qi while he infiltrated the Devil Race. She brought her master and others to investigate, received Ning Qi’s reports through her jade pendant, and insisted that he remained their spy when she joined the search for the attackers 599 607.
Boundary Sea Battlefield
After troubles in her home realm were resolved, Xu Qingqiu arrived at the Boundary Sea Battlefield. She initially worked in the rear, taking inventory, delivering resources, and occasionally assisting with missions. Ning Qi remained in contact and urged her to avoid dangerous ruins 672 731.
They reunited before a garrison assignment that also involved probing enemy strength. Xu Qingqiu guided Ning Qi into the Human Race’s Main City and Black Market. During an auction visit, he acquired the Purple Scaled Armor for her and helped her become its master 754 755 758.
She joined the expedition with Ning Qi and Xu Haoran, then left the main ship with Ning Qi to scout ahead. Their smaller group was pursued by a fleet demanding the Crystal Box and continued into the Inheritance Land 763 765 766.
Inner Realm and inheritance breakthrough
Ning Qi brought Xu Qingqiu into his Inner Realm, showed her its cities, and invited her to stay. She was attracted by the prospect of cultivating there while enjoying ordinary city life, but remained reluctant to accept more treasures from him 769.
The Medicine Spirit introduced her to the Life Pool Water, where she left the Nine-Tailed Cat to cultivate. Later, Ning Qi opened an inheritance trial for her and arranged for Black Shadow to guard her. After obtaining the inheritance and enduring Tribulation Lightning, she reached First Grade Taiyi Golden Immortal 770 788 789.
Her breakthrough allowed her to remain outside the Inner Realm and gain experience alongside the group. When their clash with Windfrost Sect disciples threatened the Myriad Sword Sect, she warned her master through her Sound Transmission Jade Pendant. She subsequently worried about his absence and helped identify the major sect delegations gathering in their temporary valley camp 790 792 794.
Personality
Xu Qingqiu is lively, playful, and fond of excursions. She enjoys street performances, snacks, and candied hawthorns, and openly relishes opportunities to explore without her elders restraining her. Her exchanges with Liu Baifeng show an affectionate, teasing relationship with her fellow disciples 521 574 575 577.
She values loyalty and reciprocation. She shares discoveries with Ning Qi, waits for him after the mountain trial, and feels guilty about receiving expensive treasures without being able to repay his generosity. Her attachment to him is also expressed through blushing, eagerness to reunite, and happiness when he holds her hand 520 521 532 758 769 770.
Although cautious about dangerous purchases and powerful sects, she is not passive under pressure. She exposes Ning Qi’s impostor, rejects Gao Yunze’s suggestion that they abandon Ning Qi, and resolves to grow stronger rather than remain dependent on protection 527 585 764 774 790.
