Background / History
Mithris was raised by the Children of Winter and does not know her real name; she identifies “Mithris” as the name given to her by her master. She later describes the Children of Winter’s doctrine of life-and-death cycles and survival of the fittest as the closest thing she has to a faith. Her lack of formal education left her resentful and envious of Karl’s education at Arcanix. 158 173 229
At Storm’s End, Mithris concealed her identity beneath the guise of a tall male Druid before revealing herself as a level 10 Children of Winter Druid and bearer of the Death Dragon Mark. She bound and attempted to manipulate Karl, but he exposed her deception and defeated her after she assumed giant-ape form. Karl beheaded her, only for the green rain to activate her Dragon Mark and resurrect her; the revival cost her a level of her Spiritual Core. 156 157 158 159
Morban recovered Mithris and made her the subject of extensive efforts to prevent her body from decaying again. His first attempt to turn her into a War Golem failed to fully animate her mechanical body, though Mithris remained conscious. Subsequent modifications left her in a stiff War Golem body with delayed reactions, then restored much of her flesh through the Kaelen Ooze while impairing her Druidic shapeshifting. 161 162 170 171
Under the alias Number 18, she worked with Number One to locate Karl in Tonglu City. Her prosthetic limbs, Mantis Blades, and spring-assisted legs made her an effective combatant despite Morban’s safeguards against her running away. 173 175
A Children of Winter Druid later supplied Mithris with a carbon-fiber bionic body that could transform alongside her. This restored her Wild Shape and allowed her to resume developing her Druidic abilities. She returned to Arcanix, where Nia and Lisana accepted her presence despite knowing her past. 229 230
After traveling to Stormreach Bay, Mithris served as acting head of local security and investigated a series of life-draining attacks tied to Drow activity. She later resigned the position, renovated the Next Life Bar, and became its owner and a prominent broker in Stormreach Bay’s underworld. 243 259 268
Appearance
Mithris is a slender half-elf with fair skin and a blue luminescent Dragon Mark coiled around her heart. Her appearance changed repeatedly after her death and reconstruction, progressing from an iron-clad War Golem body to a bionic prosthetic frame capable of reshaping with her Wild Shape. 156 170 229
- Golden-blonde hair, at one point worn in a ponytail. 175 229
- A blue-glowing Death Dragon Mark over her heart. 156
- Carbon-fiber prosthetic body; her brain and internal organs remain organic. 229 335
- Often carries or integrates Mantis Blades into her forearms. 175 229
- Has an interest in fashion and frequently helps Nia choose outfits. 334
Personality
Mithris is proud, provocative, and intensely sensitive to being ignored. Nia characterizes her as starved for attention, a trait rooted in her upbringing among the Children of Winter. She initially displays self-destructive impulses, treating her confrontation with Karl almost like a ritualized rebirth. 158 159
Her relationship with Karl remains marked by rivalry, resentment, and mutual manipulation. She enjoys pranks and retaliates against perceived slights, but she also accepts his support, tests new abilities at his request, and manages business ventures tied to his Spirit Card enterprise. 268 321 322 344
Despite her impatience and pride, Mithris is capable of cooperation. She obeys difficult experimental procedures when they offer a chance to regain strength, works with Nia and Lisana, and takes responsibility for protecting patrons at her bar. 171 229 312
Abilities & Skills
Druidic Magic and Wild Shape
Mithris was introduced as a level 10 Druid of the Children of Winter. Her reconstructed body initially disrupted her class abilities, but a later Druid-compatible prosthetic body restored her shapeshifting. 156 171 229
- Transformed into a giant ape while fighting Karl; her combat incorporated Monkey Fist and Piguazhang techniques. 158
- Can assume animal forms including a lynx, sparrow, and leopard. 229 312
- Her carbon-fiber prosthetics transform along with her body. 229 312
- Early War Golem reconstruction left her Druid abilities nearly unusable. 173
Death Dragon Mark
Mithris bears the Death Dragon Mark, a rare mark whose power resembles a flawed form of reincarnation. 156 162
- Revived after Karl killed her when green rain activated the mark. 158
- Revival caused a loss of Spiritual Core level. 159
- Can use Death Knell, a corrosive necromantic cantrip, even while in Spirit transformation. 320
- Her Death Domain Monk trait, Rebirth Incantation, allowed her to absorb the weakened Spirit from a Spirit Card. 321
Prosthetic Body and Martial Combat
Morban’s experiments and Karl’s prosthetic technology gave Mithris a succession of mechanical and bionic bodies. 162 170 229
- Uses retractable Mantis Blades in close combat. 175 259 312
- Previously used spring-assisted prosthetic legs for rapid movement. 175
- Her early War Golem body could fight but was stiff and suffered response delay. 170
- Her bionic body can be fitted with new prosthetic parts and was designed to remain compatible with Druidic transformation. 229
Dark War Greymon Spirit Transformation
Karl gave Mithris a Tyrannosaur-derived Spirit Card that she used to develop a humanoid Spirit transformation resembling Dark War Greymon. 320
- The form has matte-black armor-like features, horns, claws, and a black shield marked by her Death Dragon Mark. 320 322
- She can retain Monk Qi in this form, but cannot use spell slots. 320
- Her initial transformation exhausted the Spirit Card and left her severely weakened. 320 321
- After absorbing the weakened Spirit through Rebirth Incantation, she sustained the form for more than two hours. 321 322
Management and Information Work
Mithris proved capable of running a business and enforcing order in Stormreach Bay. 259 268
- Took over and renovated the Next Life Bar after leaving the Security Bureau. 259
- Used cybernetic guards and decisive force to remove agitators during the bar’s opening. 259
- Established rules to prevent exhausted patrons from endangering themselves during prolonged Spirit Card games. 312
- Proposed hosting the first Spirit Card tournament as the primary distributor of the cards. 285

Relationships
- Karl Ares — Former target and adversary whose defeat, execution, and subsequent involvement in her reconstruction permanently altered her life. Their later relationship becomes a tense partnership built around business, experimentation, and frequent rivalry. 158 268 320 344
- Morban — Rescuer, reconstructive artificer, and often insensitive experimenter. He kept Mithris alive, rebuilt her body repeatedly, and assigned her to assist Karl. 161 162 165
- Nia — Friend and associate who knows Mithris’s identity and accepts her despite her past actions. Mithris also helps Nia with clothing and styling. 229 334
- Lisana — Friend and frequent companion in Arcanix and Stormreach Bay. Lisana later seeks Karl’s help because Mithris has her designing a game for the Next Life Bar. 230 267
- Number One — Morban’s mechanical servant and Mithris’s early escort and supervisor. Number One was ordered to disable her prosthetic body if she refused to cooperate. 170 175
- Children of Winter — Her original Druidic faction and the source of her worldview; a Druid from the organization later enabled her return to Druidic shapeshifting. 156 173 229
