Background / History

The Shen Family’s Earth Vein had declined severely by Shen Qingshan’s generation: he was its sole surviving member and retained only four mid-grade inherited cultivation methods. These were the external Zhengyang Art, internal Fervent Heart Art, Shen Family Spear, and Burning Cloud Hand. 10 11

The family’s main body did not reside in the Five Domains. Its Star Domain elders identified descendants through their cultivation of the Zhengyang Art, which only Shen bloodline members were believed capable of practicing. Ten years before Chen Yi learned the truth, Shen Qingshan was forcibly taken to the Star Domain by Shen elders, leaving Chen Yun and Shen Jia behind because his status did not permit him to bring out-of-domain relatives. 47

Shen Linfeng and Shen Lincong descend to Qingzhou to locate eligible Earth Vein descendants. Their compass mistakenly identifies Chen Yi because Shen Qingshan had replaced the Zhengyang Art with another cultivation method and could no longer be detected. 96

Chen Yi travels with the elders to the Star Domain, observes the clan’s vast scale and luxurious lifestyle, and becomes suspicious of the family’s intentions. 97

The Mirror Holder Scheme

Shen Yue gathers 101 Earth Vein descendants and announces the Qiankun Mirror contest. The family claims that the Star Vein’s comfort has weakened its members, making hardened Earth Vein descendants necessary candidates. 98

Chen Yi rapidly completes the family’s three cultivation methods and reaches the Spirit Sea Realm with the clan’s resources, drawing the attention of Shen Yue and the senior leadership. 102

The clan’s outward appearance of indolent Star Vein members is later revealed to have been a performance intended to make Earth Vein candidates believe the Mirror Holder position was genuinely needed. 103

Shen Yang’s Failed Seizure

After Shen Yang learns of the betrayal, he orders a sweeping investigation of the entire Star Domain and Shen Family, treating Shen Wanquan as an example to eliminate internal threats before the coming war. 227

Shen Qingshan’s Return
