Background / History
The Human World includes the Five Domains, with regions such as the Eastern Wilderness, Central Plains, Northern Territory, Southern Border, and Western Liang. Human cultivators, sects, sacred lands, and regional powers operate across these territories. The Human Race possesses the innate racial talent Supreme Mandate of Heaven, under which an individual may be born with a Special Physique or special cultivation talent without a known upper limit. 59 244
During the Ancient Era, the Human World was one of the Void Realm’s strongest planes. Its customs were open and inclusive, it hosted assemblies of myriad races, and it possessed numerous passages facilitating interworld travel and exchange. 198 The Human World is also identified in interworld legend as the Ancestral World, from which the Human Ancestor is said to have left a route to the Real Realm. 308 314
Its history is tied to a long conflict with the Demon Race. The Demon Race broke a non-aggression pact and attacked the Eastern Wilderness, beginning a full-scale Human–Demon war that spread destruction into the Central Plains. 59 The conflict later ceased when both sides learned that the Dragon Person Race had manipulated them toward mutual destruction; the Five Domains and the Great Wilderness Demon Race then agreed to cooperate in defending the Human World. 159
The true historical stakes of the Human–Demon war were later revealed to be greater than territorial conflict. The Human Emperor had sought immortality by using war with the Demon World to bypass the Real Realm, while the Demon Emperor ultimately turned that plan against him. 226 The Dragon Person Race, formerly loyal vassals of the Human Emperor, later claimed that they had been tasked with destroying the Demon Race and initiating the World War. 467
The Human–Demon World War thirty thousand years earlier broke the Human World’s inheritance and ended its era of broad interworld exchange. The surviving Human Race closed its external passages, while the Demon World was eventually destroyed and delisted from the Void Realm after a Dragon Person invasion. 117 198
After the fall of the Human Emperor Palace, the Blood Moon Organization covertly restricted the Human World’s development for roughly thirty thousand years by targeting exceptional Human Race geniuses. The Desolate Ancient Remnant People used the outside Human World as a shield while preventing it from becoming powerful enough to threaten their control of the Ascension Path. 323 324
Defenses and Alliances
- Human World Allied Forces — A coalition assembled against the Dragon Person Expeditionary Army, led by the Empress of the Five Domains and the Sword Master. 275
- Great Wilderness Demon Race — Former enemies who entered a defensive alliance with the Five Domains against the Dragon Person Race. After the invasion, Hu Tiangong led the remaining Demon Race out of the Human World to seek a new homeland, leaving the Great Wilderness to the Human Race. 159 303
- Seven Luminaries — A proposed defensive alliance involving Chen Yi, Hua Wuyan, and prospective Martial God-level allies. The Seven Luminaries Immortal Array later enabled the Human Realm’s coordinates to be altered. 220 221 301
- Xiaoyao Holy Land — Participated in the Human World’s preparations for invasion and acknowledged the Xiaoyao God as part of its defense. 250
- Jiugong Island — A center for formation knowledge; its masters received instruction in formation techniques from Chen Yi. 262 339
- Earth Spirit and Guardian system — The Earth Spirit oversees the world’s living beings and supports the Guardian in maintaining balance, teleportation, and large-scale protection of the plane. 272 452
- Sentient spiritual artifacts — During the Dragon Person invasion, the Earth Spirit granted intelligence to spiritual artifacts throughout the Human World, allowing the invaders’ weapons and war machines to rebel against Dragon Person control. 282 283
Major Conflicts
Human–Demon War
The Demon Race’s surprise invasion of the Eastern Wilderness shattered the non-aggression pact and escalated into a war across the Human World. Demon forces entered the Central Plains and caused widespread destruction. 59
The war ended in a ceasefire after the Human and Demon races recognized the Dragon Person Race as a common threat. 159
Dragon Person Invasion
The Dragon Person Race built or exploited World Passages capable of reaching the Human World, including passages located in reserved zones of conquered worlds. 239 Their Sixth Expeditionary Army crossed through a stabilized planar rift in batches over roughly forty years, constrained by the rift’s transport capacity. 287
The Human World Allied Forces made their stand at Cangqiong Ridge, using the Immortal Formation: Line of Heaven—also called the Yixiantian Array—to turn the ridge into a no-fly battlefield. 275 276 The Dragon Person forces outnumbered the defenders and later bombarded the region from range, causing civilian casualties and disruption in the Central Plains. 279
The Human World’s spiritual artifacts eventually gained intelligence through the Earth Spirit and rebelled against Dragon Person control, including the invaders’ war machines. 282 The Dragon Person threat was ultimately repelled after Chen Yi defeated Wuxiang, removed remaining Demon Seeds and Dragon Person strongholds, and changed the Human Realm’s coordinates to hinder future invasions. 301
The victory was costly. The Dragon Person army was reduced from approximately two hundred thousand troops to roughly one hundred thousand before retreating, while the Human World suffered severe losses among both its cultivators and ordinary inhabitants. 285
Five Elements Root Artifacts Crisis
The Human World depends on Five Elements Root Artifacts for the stability of its plane. Every Void Realm possesses Great Dao Immortal Artifacts that serve as the five-element cornerstones of its world; without them, the five elements descend into chaos and the Earth Spirit loses its ability to supervise the plane. 117 280
When the Heaven and Earth Sword, under an unknown mastermind’s control, destroyed the other four Great Dao Immortal Artifacts and then itself, the plane began to collapse. 414
Large-scale five-element chaos followed: natural disasters rendered most regions uninhabitable, and the Human World entered an apocalyptic state. 414 Chen Yi later became the new Guardian of the Human World after learning the Earth Spirit’s technique, with the stated intention of repairing the flawed Root Artifacts using Earth Spirits from other planes. 452
The Sun Moon Tower, the Human World’s fire-element Root Artifact, survived intact because the Great Demon had kept it under his protection. Its Artifact Spirit nevertheless retained demonic nature that Chen Yi intended to neutralize through the use of an Earth Spirit. 301 452
Guardian
Chen Yi
Chen Yi serves as the Human World’s Guardian after mastering the Earth Spirit’s technique. The position connects him to the world’s living beings and gives him responsibility for maintaining its balance and protecting it from external threats. 452
- He repaired damage after the Dragon Person war, including floods, stars, and devastated landscapes. 301
- He modified the Human World’s coordinates to reduce the risk of future alien-race incursions. 301
- He planned to restore the Five Elements Root Artifacts with Earth Spirits obtained from other planes. 452
- He sought to keep the Human Realm concealed while provoking conflict between the Dragon Person World and the Holy Dragon Realm. 462 463
- Through the Earth Spirit, he can perceive the thoughts and basic consciousness of the Human World’s humans, animals, and plants, sharing in the condition of all life within the plane. 452
- He demanded access to the Wing World’s Earth Spirit to restore the Human World’s damaged Root Artifacts. 456
- He hid three of the Human World’s Five Elements Root Artifacts in separate planes to protect and foster them; the Nine Provinces Cauldron required no such treatment because it remained comparatively intact. 469
Previous Dao Protectors
The known succession sequence of Human World Dao Protectors includes Shen Yang, Li Wentian, Dongfang Xiaoyao, the Great Demon, Hua Wuyan, and Chen Yi. Because the Human–Demon World War destroyed much of the ancient record, the identities of Dao Protectors before the war cannot be verified. 198
Hua Wuyan served as Guardian before Chen Yi. Upon Chen Yi’s inheritance of the Earth Spirit’s technique, she was relieved of the Guardian’s duties. 201 452
Society and Human Traits
- Special Physiques — Human Race talents that may manifest at birth through Supreme Mandate of Heaven; their potential has no stated upper limit. Although ordinarily associated with humans, an anomalous Three-Headed Race individual was discovered with a Special Physique believed to be a Human Race talent. 244
- Cultivation — The Human World contains martial artists from ordinary soldiers to Martial Kings, Martial Saints, and Martial Gods. 275 296
- Spiritual artifacts — Artifacts in the Human World can become intelligent after receiving the Earth Spirit’s blessing. During the Dragon Person invasion, these newly sentient artifacts formed the basis of a short-lived Spirit Artifact Kingdom movement and turned Dragon Person weapons against their users. 282 283
- Ancient culture — Human settlements in the sacred lands preserve etiquette, clothing, customs, and urban prosperity that are more fragmented within the Five Domains, reflecting the Human World’s diminished state after the ancient war. 207
- External perception — In the Real Realm, humans are widely oppressed by alien races and treated as low-status labor despite being highly populous. 344 349 367
- Human resistance — Human communities outside the Human World continue to resist alien-race oppression, including sects and towns subjected to Minotaur and Dragon Person rule. 387 399
- Former cosmic status — The Human Race once stood above the myriad races under successive Heavenly Emperors, governed the wider cosmos, and created Divine Patterns to allow low-level cultivators to borrow the power of Divine Abilities. The Alien Race Great Uprising destroyed the Immortal Court and reversed this status quo. 527 528
- Human resurgence — Human organizations such as the Kindling Society protect, educate, and cultivate Human Race geniuses in self-sufficient hidden bases across the Real Realm. 527
