Background

Madara and Hashirama Senju ended the Warring States Period and founded Konohagakure together, making them two of the most renowned figures in shinobi history. The Moon Otsutsuki preserve records identifying them as the twin heroes behind the ninja-village system. 373

Before accepting Konoha’s leadership, Madara pursued two possible paths to peace: defeat Hashirama with the Nine-Tails and unify the world by force, or fake his death after defeat, cultivate Hashirama Cells, awaken the Rinnegan, and enact the Moon Eye Plan. 22

His original departure from Konoha left the Uchiha Clan politically and financially weakened. Madara was a peerless combatant but lacked Izuna’s aptitude for administration, clan management, and long-term political leadership. 40 51

Personality

Madara is overwhelmingly proud, confrontational, and impatient with weakness. He considers most opponents beneath his attention, prefers decisive violence over negotiation, and is offended by any slight against his name, power, or Uchiha heritage. 172 410

His hostility is not indiscriminate. Madara deliberately spares people uninvolved in the Uchiha Clan’s destruction, including Kabuto and two Anbu, after determining they are not responsible. 172 He also spares Mito out of respect for Hashirama and refrains from killing Kagami because of Kagami’s potential as an Uchiha prodigy. 395
