Background / History

Chen Yunxuan is the son of Chen Family Patriarch Chen Zhengyuan. When the Liu Family attempted to void its old marriage contract with the declining Chen Family, Yunxuan confronted Liu Mengyan directly and rejected her assumption that she would marry him. His intervention established him as the Chen Family’s young master and defender of its dignity 3.

After Chen Changan returned as the Chen Family’s Old Ancestor, Yunxuan willingly became his disciple. Chen Changan identified him as the most talented member of the younger generation and taught him the Emperor-tier Supreme Hegemon Body Art 5 8.

Under Chen Changan’s guidance and resources, Yunxuan progressed from Spirit Gathering Realm seventh layer to True Qi Realm first layer in a single month. This rapid advancement gave him the confidence to seek experience beyond Yan Gui City 9.

Chen Changan also forced Yunxuan to confront the brutality of the cultivation world. When ordered to eradicate the Xu and Ning Families, Yunxuan hesitated but ultimately carried out the command, accepting his mentor’s lesson that mercy toward enemies could endanger oneself 12.

Following the Great Zhou conflict, Yunxuan promised to make the Chen Family the foremost family in the Northern Region. Stronger opponents excite rather than intimidate him; he actively sought a battle with Divine Ability Realm seventh-layer Elder Zhao and declared that his ultimate goal was to become number one in the Central Heaven Domain 48.

Despite his aggression in combat, Yunxuan is not reckless without principle. He remains calm after victory, showing neither gloating nor outward arrogance even when defeating opponents far above his realm 48. During his fight with Wei Tianfeng and Wu Yuan, Yunxuan broke through to Transcendent Realm second layer and defeated both elders with a punch each. Cheng Yushu then intervened, and Yunxuan faced the Divine Ability Realm cultivator Uncle Liu. His enlightenment during that confrontation prompted Cheng Yushu to order his immediate death, but Chen Changan and Da Huang appeared before Uncle Liu could kill him 22 23 24.

Northern Region Rise

After leaving the Great Zhou Kingdom, Yunxuan rapidly strengthened through combat and training. He ignored the Northern Region Grand Competition itself, instead challenging its strongest participants and elders to test his limits 45 47 48.

During this period, he defeated the Blood Shadow Sect’s leader and killed the Divine Ability Realm cultivator Evil Reaching Heaven. He also saved Zhang Wenyuan and his sister, earning Zhang’s lasting gratitude 40 41 45.

Human Ranking and Heavenly Sword Sect Conflict

Having become first on the Human Ranking, Yunxuan returned to the Chen Family before traveling to Famous Sword State. He challenged the Heavenly Sword Sect to avenge the Healer Woman, broke its defensive sword array, killed Xie Yuyan, and fought alongside Ye Zhi Qiu until Chen Changan intervened 179 181 183 185.

Before confronting the sect, Yunxuan mourned at the murdered family's graves for three days and three nights. During his ascent, he defeated nine disciples using a coordinated sword technique and killed a Void Glimpse Realm ninth-layer disciple with two punches. When the confrontation escalated, he abandoned his deliberate cultivation suppression to face the danger alongside Ye Zhi Qiu 181 182 183 184.

The Heavenly Sword Emperor subsequently condemned Xie Yuyan's murder of innocent people and the sect's protection of her, affirming that even his own descendants were subject to the sect's rules. He accepted that Xie Yuyan had deserved death rather than demanding vengeance against Yunxuan 186 187.

Chen Family Spiritual Vein Crisis

Yunxuan returned when the Immortal Cloud Sect attempted to seize the Chen Family’s newly discovered Spiritual Vein. He defeated its representative, forced the sect to apologize, then converted the conflict into an alliance by offering two-tenths of the vein 245 246 247.

He disclosed that he had already reached Void Glimpse Realm eighth layer, with the Human Ranking rewards having raised his cultivation by three layers. By the Saint Domain period, Chen Changan acknowledged that Yunxuan and the others had remained diligent and become increasingly outstanding during their time in the Small World. Yunxuan independently attacked branches of the Eternal Sacred Hall and Anti-Saint Alliance, drawing a coordinated response from Saint Venerable experts. Yunxuan was among eleven cultivators who successfully broke through to the Ruler Realm after cultivating in separate Small Worlds arranged by Chen Changan. The group also included Ye Zhi Qiu, Gu Xian'er, Gu Fengyao, Li Qiye, Yun Qingluan, Hu Tianjiao, Chen Qingqing, Murong Qingwu, Murong Qingrou, and Yu Nian Nian 2970.

After learning that Chen Changan was being targeted in Chaos Heaven, Yunxuan and the others reacted with killing intent.
