Background / History
Luo Mu is a transmigrator who escaped a grueling “996” work life and spent a year traveling, challenging Gyms, and raising his Pokémon. He became the only Trainer in recent years to pass Paldea’s Champion Trial, though the Special Hint System calls him the weakest among Champions. 1 2 40
Rather than remain an active Champion, Luo Mu retired to pursue a pastoral life. He used nearly all his savings to buy a large abandoned property and a three-story house in Pingdie Town, intending to develop the land into a farm where he and his Pokémon could live peacefully. 1 2
Chairperson Poppy accepted his retirement on the condition that he assist her privately if Paldea faces a crisis. She later arranged for him to become Orange Academy’s Battle Teacher, covering the cost of crafting his Terastal Orb in exchange. Luo Mu accepted because the position required only two classes per week and gave him income without abandoning his farming plans. 1 3 4
While delivering the Terastal Raw Ore to the Lighthouse Institute, Luo Mu met Dr. Jacq and Pepper. His knowledge of the Book of Veridian and the future consequences of Area Zero research made him aware that the time machine had not yet been created; he quietly resolved to see whether future tragedies could be changed. 5 6 7
Appearance
At eighteen, Luo Mu dresses casually rather than formally for his teaching position, favoring practical, dark-colored clothes that he feels make him look calm and reliable. 39
- Black hoodie and army-green work jacket. 39
- Work pants and casual board shoes. 39
- Has a burn scar on his arm left by Ceruledge when it was still a Charcadet. 50
Personality
Luo Mu is laid-back and strongly protective of his personal time. Although he is a Champion-level Trainer, he dislikes being pushed toward greater strength or constant travel, preferring farming, fishing, cooking, and caring for Pokémon. He rejected the Hint System’s suggestion to travel to other regions and also refused Dr. Jacq’s research-job offer because it could involve overtime. 2 7
Despite his desire for a quiet life, he does not ignore danger around him. He responded decisively to the child kidnappings, coordinated a rescue operation, and later warned Orange Academy students that he would not tolerate bullying regardless of anyone’s family background. 10 11 42
He is patient with children and Pokémon, though he can be blunt when worried. He becomes a dependable older-brother figure to Pepper, reassures anxious Pokémon that they will not be discarded, and refuses to exploit his rescue of Nemo for material reward. 12 26 50
Abilities & Skills
Champion-Level Pokémon Training
Luo Mu is a genuine Champion-level Trainer who passed Paldea’s Champion Trial. He has trained a powerful core team and commands them with enough confidence to deploy all six for a kidnapping-rescue operation. 1 2 10
- Evaluates opponents’ combat experience and condition during battle, as shown when he identified Moltres as young and inexperienced. 30
- Coordinates Pokémon through tactical plans instead of relying solely on force. Luxray’s team rescued captives while Luo Mu and Dragonite confronted the kidnappers outside. 10 11
- Tested Nemo and Sprigatito’s ability through a controlled battle against his newly hatched Growlithe. 43
- Can read his Pokémon’s moods and intentions despite not fully understanding their speech. 8 48
Battle Strategy
Luo Mu makes rapid tactical decisions during dangerous encounters.
- Ordered Dragonite to combine Rain Dance and Hurricane before finishing Moltres with Thunder and Dragon Pulse. 30
- Waited for the right moment to intervene in the conflict between Crabominable and Quilava, then used Luxray’s Terastallization advantage to secure victory. 33
- Chose not to capture the defeated Moltres, judging that it did not wish to be caught and was not strong enough to make him eager to force the issue. 30
Terastallization
Luo Mu possesses a Terastal Orb crafted by Dr. Jacq’s Lighthouse Institute using the Raw Terastal Ore he discovered in his house. 2 5 14
- First Terastallized Swampert, granting it a Ground-type Terastal Crown and substantially enhancing its power. 15
- Used Terastallized Swampert’s amplified strength to reclaim wasteland for his farm. 15
- Terastallized Luxray against a Fighting-type Terastallized Crabominable, allowing Luxray to defeat it with Thunderbolt. 33
- Limitation: The Terastal Orb must be recharged through specialized devices in major cities or rare Terastal Crystals. 16
Farming and Pokémon Care
Though initially inexperienced with farming, Luo Mu actively learns from professionals and adapts his plans when mistakes occur. 16 17 22
- Consulted Peter of Jones Farm on crop selection, prices, growth cycles, and harvest planning. 16 17
- Learned that his powerful Serperior and Swampert could damage seeds through excessive energy, then sought lower-level Grass-type Pokémon better suited for cultivation. 21 22
- Organized his land into agricultural, ranch, and lake areas. 12 13
- Took responsibility for an unusual Pokémon Egg, preparing an incubator, nutrient solution, and a warm fireplace environment before it hatched into a Hisuian Growlithe. 19 20 37 38
Special Hint System
Luo Mu is bound to a Special Hint System that identifies opportunities and offers information, though it cannot force him to accept missions. 2
- Directed him to the Raw Terastal Ore hidden in the old house. 2
- Helped provide a clue that led Dr. Jacq to develop a teleportation device. 7
- Has a sarcastic, conversational personality and repeatedly urges him to adventure outside Pingdie Town. 2 13 26
