Background / History
Tang San comes from another world, where he was an outer disciple of the Bashu Tang Sect. According to Lin Sheng’s diary, he stole the inner sect’s Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record and jumped from a cliff after the elders surrounded him. He arrived on the Douluo Continent with his memories, cultivation method, and Tang Sect techniques intact 13 49.
His body is the child of Tang Hao and Ah Yin. Lin Sheng claims that Tang San entered it immediately after birth, devoured the newborn’s original soul, and possessed the body. Ah Yin initially considers reincarnation possible, but accepts the diary’s possession account and resolves to avenge her child 37 49 104.
The diary describes Tang Hao’s early household as neglectful: Tang San cooked for his father while Tang Hao drank and withdrew from reality. Lin Sheng further portrays Tang Hao’s later interest in Tang San’s twin martial souls as an investment in revenge against Spirit Hall 50.
Reliability of the Diary
- Deliberate embellishment: Lin Sheng admits altering details to make readers despise Tang San, specifically during his account of Chen Xin and Gu Rong’s treatment 26.
- Cultivated trust: Lin Sheng observes that the diary holders now trust him so completely that they would believe fabricated claims 50.
- Unconfirmed accusations: Claims that Tang San deliberately engineered Xiao Wu’s sacrifice or reincarnated out of jealousy toward his grandson are presented as Lin Sheng’s suspicions, not independently demonstrated events 132 141.
Appearance
- Hair and face: Handsome, with blue hair that is described as once neatly kept 176.
- After Tang Hao’s death: Returns to Yu Xiaogang in torn clothes, with bloodshot eyes and an exhausted appearance 87.
- At Sea God Hall: His hair is disheveled, and jealousy and fear twist his face almost beyond recognition 176.
- During divine possession: Blue-gold markings appear beneath his skin. The Sea God’s descent eventually splits his flesh and partially collapses his face 176 178.
- Reconstructed body: A divine-gold shell carries interwoven blue-gold Sea God power and dark-red Asura killing intent 186.
Personality
Tang San’s attachment to Xiao Wu repeatedly overrides his judgment. During the Spirit Hall raid, he follows her away from Tang Hao’s protection despite being unable to confront the attackers. Later, their prolonged separation leaves him grieving privately and unwilling to cultivate 36 166.
He responds to injuries against his loved ones with intense hatred. Yue Guan’s humiliation of Yu Xiaogang enrages him, while Xiao Wu’s disappearance and Tang Hao’s death deepen his hostility toward Spirit Hall and Lin Sheng. He commits his remaining hidden weapons to a futile attempt to save his father 36 37 54.
His revenge also becomes calculated. When seeking Tang Xiao’s support, he conceals his intentions and aims to mobilize the entire Clear Sky Sect against Lin Sheng rather than merely secure refuge 103.
Lin Sheng characterizes him as hypocritical, selfish, and obsessed with control, especially in accounts of his future divine career. These judgments strongly influence the diary holders, but come from an openly hostile narrator who sometimes embellishes his accusations 26 50 133.
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Tang San possesses the Clear Sky Hammer and Blue Silver Grass, with the latter concealing Blue Silver Emperor potential 13 55.
- Clear Sky Hammer: He attempts to summon it during Spirit Hall’s attack, but a Titled Douluo’s pressure makes even that action sluggish 34.
- Ring Detonation: In the diary’s original history, he uses the hammer’s Ring Detonation against the already-divine Qian Renxue 19.
- Second awakening: The Blue Silver King could awaken his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline. Tang Hao’s death leaves him unaware of that route, and Bibi Dong later orders the ancient king’s destruction 55 132.
Mysterious Heaven Skill
A cultivation method retained from his previous life, used alongside the Tang Sect’s secret arts to gain an advantage over his peers 13.
- Lin Sheng credits the Tang Sect manuals, immortal herbs, and divine inheritances—not Yu Xiaogang’s training—with Tang San’s original rise 15.
- In his account of Tang San’s later reincarnation, Lin Sheng says the skill can devour others’ bloodline power 140.
- The diary criticizes Tang San for preserving the method for roughly thirty thousand years without meaningful innovation 140.
Tang Sect Hidden Weapons
Tang San carries and manufactures concealed weapons, though his available arsenal is limited by his cultivation and resources 53 54.
- Current arsenal: Godly Zhuge Crossbow, Bone-Piercing Nails, and Dragon Whisker Needles 54.
- Manufacturing limit: As a Soul Elder, he cannot make the sect’s finest hidden weapons 53.
- Original-history feats: Guanyin’s Tear pierces the Angel God’s heart; Buddha’s Fury Tang Lotus and Peacock Plume are described as capable of killing Titled Douluos 19 56.
- Failure against Lin Sheng: His reserve weapons are reduced to dust upon touching the Immortal Slaughtering Sword Formation 54.
Purple Demon Eye
An eye technique visibly manifests as Tang San’s murderous intent intensifies after Xiao Wu disappears 37.
- His double pupils are also noted while he watches Tang Hao’s desperate battle 53.
- The supplied scenes do not demonstrate a separate offensive effect from the technique.
Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track
A Tang Sect movement technique used during his duel at Sea God Hall 176.
- With divine empowerment, Tang San moves like a streak of light while attacking with the trident 176.
- Lin Sheng’s diary also describes it as capable of evading Soul Skills 167.
Borrowed Divine Power
The Sea God directly empowers Tang San rather than leaving his advancement entirely to the trials 176.
- Allows him to summon the Sea God Trident and wield ocean-weighted attacks approaching divine strength 176.
- After the Sea God assumes control, divine power temporarily seals his chest wound 177.
- The mortal vessel cannot withstand sustained divine descent; its meridians, flesh, and bones progressively fail 178.
Reconstructed Dual-Power Body
His final incarnation is a soulless puppet combining Sea God and Asura source power, rather than the original history’s freely switching dual-god inheritor 186.
- Rapid repair: Divine power restores damaged armor 186.
- Techniques: Uses Golden Thirteen Tridents, Sea God’s Twilight, and Asura Judgement 186.
- Pseudo Dual God Fusion Technique: Merges the Asura Blood Sword and Sea God Trident into a thousand-meter red-and-blue blade of rules 186.
- Fatal weakness: Lin Sheng extracts and crushes its two-colored source-power heart, causing the divine shell to disintegrate 186.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges — Holds his reserve hidden weapons during the attempt to save Tang Hao 54.
- Godly Zhuge Crossbow, Bone-Piercing Nails, and Dragon Whisker Needles — Expended against Lin Sheng’s sword formation and destroyed 54.
- Sea God Trident — A divine artifact weighing 108,000 jin; Tang San summons it through the Sea God’s empowerment 176.
- Asura Blood Sword — Wielded by the reconstructed puppet and fused with the trident for its final large-scale attack 186.
- Eight Spider Lances / Eight Spider Soul Bone — An intended opportunity, never obtained in the altered timeline. Lin Sheng takes it from the Man Faced Demon Spider and has it evolved into the Zhuxian Sword Bone 11 12 16.
- Asura Demon Sword — In the diary’s original history, Tang Chen is meant to deliver this Super Divine Artifact to Tang San as a key to his dual inheritance 115.
Relationships
- Tang Hao — Father and protector. Rescues him from Spirit Hall, takes him into hiding, and dies before Tang San can save him 34 37 50 54.
- Ah Yin — Mother of his body. Initially rejoices at his foretold godhood, then vows to kill him after accepting the claim that he consumed her newborn’s soul 37 49 104.
- Xiao Wu — Childhood companion and romantic attachment; his wife in the diary’s original history. Their separation in the altered timeline causes both to search or grieve for the other 90 103 166.
- Yu Xiaogang — Teacher. Tang San is enraged when Yue Guan humiliates him and later returns to him after Tang Hao’s death. The diary says Tang San regarded him as an adoptive father 36 87 141.
- Tang Xiao — Paternal uncle and Clear Sky Sect master. Offers refuge and revenge, then abandons the Third Elder to escape with Tang San 103 120.
- Lin Sheng — Principal enemy. Takes his intended opportunities, kills Tang Hao, defeats his divine possession, and destroys his reconstructed body 11 54 178 186.
- Bibi Dong — Orders his death after learning his foretold role in Spirit Hall’s destruction; also targets his bloodline-awakening opportunity 15 36 132.
- Qian Renxue — Original-history opponent whose foretold defeat and attraction to Tang San provoke anger and disbelief 19 49.
- Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing — Former Shrek companions whose opinions turn sharply against him through the diary 13 26.
- Sea God and Asura God — Divine backers. The Sea God possesses him during battle; both later reconstruct him as a weapon against Lin Sheng 176 177 186.
- Gu Yuena — Orders Xiong Jun to kill him after reading the alleged scheme against the Three-Eyed Golden Lion 72 83.
- Tang Wutong, Tang Wulin, and Lan Xuanyu — Daughter, son, and grandson respectively in the original future described by the diary 71 90 92.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Loss of the Eight Spider Soul Bone
Lin Sheng kills the Man Faced Demon Spider and claims the external soul bone intended for Tang San. The diary identifies it as a lifelong foundation that would originally evolve to god level and become a Super Divine Artifact. Its theft is the first explicit disruption of Tang San’s intended path 11 12.
Spirit Hall’s Attack on Shrek
Yue Guan and Gui Mei attack while Tang San is cultivating. Tang Hao intervenes, but Tang San leaves his protection to follow the fleeing Xiao Wu. Flender and Zhao Wuji help protect the students, while Tang Hao detonates three rings to break the attackers’ restraint and force their retreat. Tang San survives, but Xiao Wu disappears 33 34 36 37.
Tang Hao’s Death and the Search for Allies
Tang Hao takes him into hiding and proposes returning to Holy Soul Village for an opportunity. When Spirit Hall elders besiege his father, Tang San discovers how little his Soul Elder strength can accomplish. His hidden weapons fail to interrupt Lin Sheng’s killing blow 50 53 54.
After searching unsuccessfully for cultivation opportunities, he returns to Yu Xiaogang at Blue Tyrant Academy and reports Tang Hao’s death. He subsequently finds Tang Xiao and seeks the Clear Sky Sect’s strength for revenge 87 103.
Failed Revenge and the Clear Sky Sect’s Fall
Tang San accompanies Tang Xiao and the Third Elder to attack Lin Sheng near Heaven Dou Royal Academy. Their assessment of Dugu Bo and Lin Sheng proves badly outdated. Tang Xiao escapes with Tang San, leaving the Third Elder to die 117 119 120.
They return to a hostile reception from the sect’s elders. Lin Sheng then attacks the Clear Sky Sect; afterward, he has not located Tang San and suspects he escaped the destruction 122 123 126.
Sea God Island and Final Defeats
Despite his losses, Tang San triggers the Sea God’s Nine Trials. Bo Saixi rejects the prospect of sacrificing herself for him, while his longing for Xiao Wu interferes with his cultivation 159 166.
At Sea God Hall, the Sea God grants him near-divine power and then takes over his wounded body. Lin Sheng withstands the borrowed power, exploits the vessel’s deterioration, and pierces Tang San’s skull, forcing the descended divine presence to depart 176 177 178.
The Sea God and Asura God later rebuild Tang San as a soulless divine puppet above Heaven Dou City. Lin Sheng dismantles its combined attack and crushes its source-power heart, destroying the reconstructed body 186.
Original Future Described in the Diary
Defeat of Spirit Hall
- Tang San inherits the Sea God and Asura God positions and destroys the Spirit Hall Empire 13.
- Bibi Dong and Qian Renxue initially kill him after his Sea God ascension. Chen Xin and Gu Rong die attempting to recover his corpse 19 25.
- After his resurrection and Asura inheritance, Qian Renxue loses her divine position; Bibi Dong dies shielding her daughter 19.
Huo Yuhao and the Three-Eyed Golden Lion
The diary attributes an interconnected destiny-manipulation scheme to Tang San:
- Divine Sense division: He seals and divides Tang Wutong’s Divine Sense, associating its parts with Wang Dong’er and Wang Qiu’er 71 72.
- Emotional manipulation: He steers Huo Yuhao’s relationships and plants suggestions that lead the Three-Eyed Golden Lion to love him 71 72.
- Sacrifice and appropriation: Wang Qiu’er’s sacrifice transfers her fortune to Huo Yuhao; Lin Sheng further accuses Tang San of taking her Golden Dragon bloodline for his daughter 72 74.
- Identity reconstruction: The diary claims he combines the two women’s shattered soul remnants into Tang Wutong, erasing their separate identities 73.
- Coercive trials: Tang San rules the Qiankun Asking Love Valley and uses repeated torment to secure Huo Yuhao’s submission, with Ning Rongrong acting at his direction 40 43 84.
- Continuing control: Lin Sheng describes the future God of Emotion and his seven Soul Spirits as subordinated to the Tang family, and accuses Tang San of detaining Huo Yuhao’s mother’s soul as leverage 83 141.
Tang Sect and the Ten-Thousand-Year Plan
| Subject | Diary account |
|---|---|
| Tang Sect founding | Tang San establishes a new Tang Sect on the Douluo Continent 55. |
| Early dominance | Its hidden weapons support its position as the leading sect for thousands of years 56. |
| Succession restrictions | Preference for leaders surnamed Tang with Blue Silver Grass martial souls contributes to internal decline, according to Lin Sheng 55. |
| Technological stagnation | Resistance to Soul Tools leaves its inherited methods increasingly outdated 55 56. |
| Abyss invasion | Lin Sheng claims Tang San deliberately severs contact between the Divine Realm and Douluo Star to encourage an Abyss Plane invasion 134. |
| Dragon God legacy | The diary portrays Lan Xuanyu’s eventual Dragon God status, and Gu Yuena and Tang Wulin’s divine positions, as bringing the Divine Realm and soul-beast legacy under Tang-family control 92. |
| Later reincarnation | Lin Sheng describes Tang San reincarnating after Xiao Wu’s death and using bloodline-devouring cultivation; the claim that jealousy toward Lan Xuanyu also motivated him is explicitly speculation 140 141. |
