Power Progression

Background and History

Ogal enters the story by dropping from a rooftop during a confrontation between Lin Yun’s group and Sigmar Church clergy. He introduces himself as a Templar Knight and asks to understand the situation; his concealed clothing, Cathayan appearance and oversized tachi immediately make Lin Yun wary 767.

He subsequently fights alongside Lin Yun’s group. During the defense of Nurn, his Raging Current Slash backfires: his demon blade shatters and leaves both him and Lin Yun badly wounded. The Archbishop stabilizes him with Breath of Life, and Sigmar’s priests arrange further treatment. He later dies from his injuries and is resurrected, though the priests cannot remove his curse at that time 806 813 817.

After the battle, Tachi Bro recovers enough sword fragments for further work on the blade. He obtains an age-altering staff and uses it to restore an old blacksmith to his physical prime; the blacksmith then helps process the damaged sword, although the fusion is not fully successful 824 849 896. He and Lin Yun later pass a Templar review, regain tokens bearing their original identities, and are appointed council moderators 903 905 906.

Appearance

Tachi Bro is a Cathayan man first seen almost entirely hidden by a cloak, with an oversized tachi strapped to his back 767.

• His unusual katana makes him conspicuous in the Empire; people stare at it or avoid him 910.

Personality

Tachi Bro is willing to help Lin Yun’s group but remains uneasy with imposed rules. Past experiences make him reluctant to pool his money with the team, even when that choice leaves him feeling isolated 849 903. He does not like using his Witch Hunter status to pressure others: he buys the age-altering staff despite believing he might have obtained it for free by asserting his authority 851.

In combat, he prefers mobility and precise strikes over standing his ground against stronger opponents. He can also reassess a dangerous encounter quickly, escaping a Nurgle Champion and returning to warn the group 858 938.

Swordsmanship and martial skills

• Silver Surge techniques give him rapid draw-and-sheath attacks, evasive movement and counters. Silver Flash can nullify an incoming attack if his counterattack wins the contest 770 832.
• Raging Current Strike delivers three successive slashes, but his more powerful Raging Current Slash backfires during the Nurn battle, shattering his demon blade 806 890.
• Refined Silver Wave projects a short-range blade aura that can make a target vulnerable to silvered weapons if it fails a Perception save 882 884.

Spatial movement and defense

• Shifting Shuttle moves him roughly 18 metres, helping him escape encirclement; other jumps let him close on fleeing enemies or cross much greater distances in succession 861 890 938.
• River Return lets him counter an effect requiring a save by appearing beside its source. He uses it to reach an Apostle attacking from long range 889.
• Stealthy Recovery helps him evade attacks while restoring martial skills, though it does not make him invulnerable 781 862.
• Level Walk or Steady Step Stance allows him to move through the air 837 938.

Psionics and targeted strikes

• Reshape the Mind damages a chosen mental attribute and has an effect tied to that attribute. Tachi Bro uses Perception damage to impair the Shaman Beast King’s casting and Charisma damage against the Archer Apostle 805 890.
• Dream Reunion uses spiritual power to pull an ally to his position; he uses it to extract Gazi from danger 862 864.
• Sleeping God Eye detects nearby life signatures and lets him fight without relying on sight 860 904.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

• Muramasa-forged Embers wild tachi — a +3 demon blade made from scorched volcano steel. Its interference repeatedly injures Tachi Bro; it later shatters when Raging Current Slash backfires 770 789 806.
• Nodachi — a sword taken from the Mibu Clan in another world. Once a +1 weapon, it becomes +3 under special circumstances 833 849.
• Chameleon Ring — makes him semi-transparent for stealth 858 936.
• Hourglass Staff — can temporarily change a person’s age for one day per use, once daily; he uses it to restore an old blacksmith to his prime 849 896.
• Doctor’s Glasses — his choice from the Templar treasury; they detect toxins and diseases and can reduce poison once per day 906.
• Revolver — a firearm obtained from the old blacksmith. After a hostile reception at the Metal College, Lin Yun offers to give it a holy enchantment 910 911.

• Lin Yun — teammate and frequent battlefield partner; Lin Yun helps him improve his equipment, while Tachi Bro shares intelligence on threats to the group 853 911 938.
• Gazi — fellow combatant whom Tachi Bro pulls to safety with spiritual techniques 862 864.
• The Archbishop — heals and stabilizes Tachi Bro after the Nurn battle, then entrusts him to other priests for further care 806 813.
