Usopp was already part of the Straw Hat Pirates during the Judicial Island operation, though he initially presented himself as the separate “Sniper King,” a supposed friend of Usopp. Luffy and Chopper enthusiastically accepted the persona, gratifying his vanity. 7

During the two-year separation, Usopp underwent harsh training on Boin Archipelago. He accidentally ate a Devil Fruit hidden in his food despite previously not wanting to become a landlubber.
