Background / History

Yueguang Xingye is the head of the Gekko Clan and a close uncle-like figure to Yueguang Han. When Han returns after going missing on the battlefield, Xingye is visibly relieved and concerned for his safety. He remains involved when Orochimaru calls Han to demonstrate his newly awakened Kekkei Genkai. 15

After Han reveals the scale of his battlefield achievements and his Bloodline Limit, Xingye helps decide that the clan should keep the ability secret and return Han to the village for protection. 18

Xingye initially refuses Han's request to train by absorbing Lightning Style energy, considering the method too dangerous. Once he witnesses Han endure repeated Lightning Release attacks without injury, however, he reverses his position and commits the clan's resources to supporting Han's growth. 19 20

During the campaign against a Sunagakure stronghold, Xingye leads the Konoha force through enemy territory, teaches Han how to identify battlefield traps, and coordinates the team's defense while Han attacks. He repeatedly objects to Han's hazardous decisions, but follows him into danger to protect him. 21 25 27 29

Later, Xingye continues serving alongside Han in operations against Iwagakure shinobi. He supports Han's capture of enemy jōnin and follows Han's orders during their covert withdrawal. 57 60

Personality

Xingye is protective, pragmatic, and deeply invested in both Han's survival and the future of their clan. He does not hesitate to challenge Han when he considers him reckless, particularly over dangerous training or battlefield charges. 19 25 27

Despite this caution, he is adaptable. Evidence that Han can safely absorb Lightning Style causes Xingye to shift from forbidding the practice to actively organizing clan support for it. 19 20

His loyalty can outweigh his concern for himself: during a battle in which Han disappears, Xingye is stated to prioritize Han's safety over his own. 36
