Background / History

Jashin first appears before Simu in a mist-filled underworld-like space as a vast, distorted entity. It offers him a choice: join the Jashin Cult and help break its seal in exchange for the Womb of the Creator, or refuse and become its concubine. After Simu promises to offer the entire Shinobi World, Jashin grants him an Immortal Body and defers granting the Jashin Ritual 1.

The Jashin Cult worships Jashin through blood offerings, corpses, and venomous animals cast into a blood pool beneath its divine statue. During the annual festival, the cult's prayers draw a bizarre presence over the temple, and both Hidan and Simu emerge from the pool as recipients of Jashin's favor 2.

Continuous sacrifices substantially restore Jashin's power. After three months of offerings, it believes it may break free from its seal within two or three years and make the Shinobi World “tremble” 11. However, Simu repeatedly consumes the energy sustaining Jashin's blessings and uses its reserves to create Jashin Race variants, leaving Jashin enraged and unable to immediately stop him 13 46.

Appearance

Jashin's manifested form is immense, malformed, and difficult for Simu to describe. It is associated with black-purple mist, scarlet eyes, and overwhelming negative emotions 1.

Immortality and Curse Authority

Ancient records describe Jashin as a deity who commands immortality and curses 9.

• Grants an Immortal Body that prevents its blessed followers from dying as long as Jashin has not fallen 13 37.
• Bestowed Hidan with immortality and the Jashin Ritual, which transfers injuries Hidan inflicts on himself to a target whose blood he has obtained 2 6 7.
• The ritual requires the target's blood and a circular symbol containing a triangle 40.
• Immortal-body restoration consumes Jashin's energy; Simu's mass production and repeated deaths can drain it severely 13 46.

Divine Blessings

Jashin offers followers powers in return for loyalty and assistance with its release.

• Offered Simu the Womb of the Creator for joining the cult and helping break its seal 1.
• Granted Simu an Immortal Body and promised the Jashin Ritual for a later time 1.

Jashin grows stronger from blood sacrifices offered by its cult.

• Sustained offerings allow Jashin to accumulate enough power to anticipate release from its seal within several years 11.
• Large-scale sacrifices, including the massacre connected to the Sakamoto Trading Company, increase the cult's fame and fuel its worship 36 37.

Limitations

• Jashin remains sealed in a separate space and cannot freely descend into the Shinobi World 1 11.

• Despite recognizing the drain on its power, Jashin incorrectly identifies Hidan rather than Simu as the cause on multiple occasions 13 46.
