Background / History
Tianci Star Incarnation
Nie Longhu was discovered in an arena cage as an Incarnation Tribulation body of a Celestial Immortal. His panel record identifies him as a disciple of the Taiqing Hunyuan Dao Lord lineage who has undergone 974 cultivation tribulations. Even while imprisoned, he remained composed, completing a circulation cycle before speaking with Chu Zheng. 172 173
After Chu Zheng killed Qi Hua, Nie Longhu formed an uneasy alliance with him. He used Skin Painting to impersonate Qi Hua, deceiving her attendants and allowing the pair to move freely. He quickly recognized that Chu was neither a formally trained Daoist disciple nor an ordinary cultivator. 173
Once their control chips had been dealt with, Nie Longhu killed Qi Shanyong and helped Chu Zheng assume Qi Shanyong's identity. He openly gave his name, lineage, and master's identity, while explaining that the Azure Cloud Realm belonged to the Chaos Sea rather than the Myriad Realms or the All Heavens. 174
He traveled with Chu Zheng after they left Tianci Star, offering cultivation guidance, navigating through the cosmos, and protecting him during his Golden Core formation. However, Chu Zheng's abnormal advancement, unclear origins, and suspected ties to the Immortal Alliance increasingly made Nie Longhu wary. 176 179 181 182
Eastern Origin Realm Incarnation
In a later Incarnation Tribulation, Nie Longhu awakened in the Eastern Origin Realm and found Qi Cultivation already being spread among the Songhe Tribe. His investigation led him to Zhengchu Dao Lord's statue, where he recognized the figure as Chu Zheng. 232 233
Although displeased to encounter Chu again, Nie Longhu accepted Chu's hospitality and explained the dangers of spreading Qi Cultivation throughout the Chaos Sea. He warned that the accumulation of Qi Cultivators and their demand for Heavenly Fortune could draw the attention of the Heavenly Dao and trigger a Dao Tribulation. 233 234
He proposed two possible responses: erase the traces of the Qi Cultivation Method, or have a Daoist Profound Immortal merge the Eastern Origin Realm into the Myriad Worlds. He also cautioned Chu that the Incense Godhood Path could burden his Qi Cultivation with Karma and corrupt the purity required for future advancement. 234
Although he repeatedly sought distance from Chu, Nie Longhu later agreed to help him reach the Myriad Worlds Battlefield. He gave Chu its coordinates and a Dao Seal that would allow Nie Longhu to sense him and seek assistance if Chu reached the Realm Wall alive. 237
Appearance
Nie Longhu's incarnation bodies vary between tribulations. During his Tianci Star incarnation, he is described as sitting cross-legged with a calm, unmoving demeanor. In the Eastern Origin Realm, he appears in a child-sized body, small enough that only half his head rises above a table. 173 233
- Maintains a placid, composed bearing even while imprisoned. 173
- Can wear another being's skin through Skin Painting and become nearly indistinguishable from the original person. 173
- His child incarnation retains his prior life's knowledge after awakening innate wisdom. 172 232
Personality
Nie Longhu is observant, calculating, and difficult to deceive. During his first conversation with Chu Zheng, he rapidly inferred that Chu lacked orthodox Daoist training while concealing an unusual background. 173 176
He is pragmatic about survival. He treats adaptation to unfamiliar worlds as necessary for a cultivator's longevity, studies local conditions, and is willing to use disguises and assumed identities when a realm lacks a functioning Heavenly Law. 173 174
Despite his caution, Nie Longhu does not abandon fellow Qi Cultivators without reason. He teaches Chu about Golden Cores, the Chaos Sea, Qi Cultivation, Incarnation Tribulations, and the Myriad Worlds Battlefield, even after concluding that Chu attracts dangerous Karma. 175 179 234 237
His advice is blunt and often unsympathetic. He rejects the Eastern Origin clan leaders' belief that they can forcefully change their world's fate, arguing that they cannot interfere with the Heavenly Dao's will. 233
