Background / History

Imu is an ancient ruler who has controlled the World Government from Mary Geoise for approximately eight centuries. She ignored the covenant of the Twenty Kings by sitting on the Empty Throne and maintained control through immortality granted to the Five Elders and Holy Knights—power she could also reclaim or use to execute them remotely. 452 506

She is associated with the defeat of Joy Boy and the Great Kingdom. Imu later states that she has spent more than eight hundred years eliminating powerful races and suppressing threats to her rule. 484 503

Before her exposure, Imu operated from the shadows through contracts, possession vessels, and absolute authority over the World Government’s elite. She personally took interest in Wang Shi, initially intending to summon and bind him by contract, and also sought to bring Vivi to Mary Geoise. 281 338

Blackbeard’s public exposure of Imu’s immortality, rule over the Empty Throne, and control of the Five Elders and Holy Knights destabilized the World Government. Imu responded by placing Blackbeard and Wang Shi on her kill list, though she later considered compromising with Wang Shi to preserve the regime. 452 453

During the final war, Imu was repeatedly besieged by Wang Shi’s alliance, defeated and captured. She adopted the identity of Queen Nefertari D.
