Background / History
Bai Ye was originally known as Ren Water. Qin Leng selected and groomed him as a successor, ordering him to resume his real name when he assumed leadership of the O5 Council. Qin Leng judged that a decision-maker required wisdom, strength, decisiveness, and foresight rather than mere devotion to humanity. 326
His personal history is deliberately inconsistent. He claimed to be an orphan who never knew his parents, but another account identified him as the son of Qin Leng's comrade; Bai Ye later proved willing to fabricate stories about his past. 327 329 330 334
Bai Ye absorbed the avatars and personalities of the Ten Heavenly Stems. Their incompatible powers and personalities caused physical and mental instability until he began separating and refining their Yin, Yang, and Five Elements aspects into a Taiji-like cycle. 329
Appearance
Following his resurrection, Bai Ye is described as a pale, gray-haired man with a placid, half-lidded expression. In his later appearance on the Dragon Transformation Continent, he has long gray-black hair, black-and-white eyes, and modern clothing. 429 706
- His eyes are black and white in his later form. 706
- His Taiji form manifests a rotating Taiji diagram behind or beneath him. 376 378
- His Yin-Yang powers commonly appear as black and white energy, weapons, flames, or humanoid avatars. 354 372
Personality
Bai Ye is outwardly erratic, playful, and prone to absurd behavior, including manipulating subordinates through arbitrary routines and fabricated stories. Beneath that conduct, he is a meticulous planner whose seemingly reckless actions often conceal calculated objectives. 330 332 334 374
He is ruthless toward enemies and allies alike, accepting mass casualties and the sacrifice of subordinates when they advance his plans. His rule over the Nine-Tailed Fox was feared for its unpredictability, reversed morality, and relentless expansion. 331 333 335 444
A prophecy connected to Tang Yan made Bai Ye increasingly obsessed with escaping—or confronting—his foretold death. He came to focus intensely on Yang Lin as the possible cause of that fate. 328 374 375
Abilities & Skills
Yin-Yang Two Energies
Bai Ye's core power consists of black Yin energy and white Yang energy, normally manifested through two avatars or directly shaped into weapons.
- Yin energy is primarily offensive and can annihilate or dissolve matter, attacks, and spiritual connections. 354 372 431
- Yang energy is primarily defensive, but can solidify, transform into weapons or replacement body parts, and attack directly. 354 372 374
- He can form black sabers, white blades, twin swords, and Yin Fire from the two energies. 372 374 378 430
- Yin energy allowed him to sever the Resurrected Soul's mental control over him. 431
Taiji Form
Taiji is the complete fusion of Bai Ye's Ten Heavenly Stems powers. Initially, the Tiger Talisman was needed to force the fusion; after reaching the Fourth Tier, Bai Ye no longer required it and wore it only to suppress his own power. 332 376
- Redirects or neutralizes incoming attacks through the rotating Taiji diagram. 378
- Uses abilities from earlier manifestations, including Xuanwu's powerful slowdown effect. 376
- Retains Yang energy solidification while drawing on the full merged power of Yin and Yang. 376
- His Taiji became unstable after Yi Jing extracted it during Bai Ye's death. 379 429
Cloud Sea Scripture
Bai Ye cultivates the Cloud Sea Scripture, a technique that complements the Soaring Cloud Sword Art and has separate methods for cultivating Qi and the body. 373
- Its energy circulation is described as continuous like clouds and ocean waves. 373
- Bai Ye formed the initial Cloud Dao Body far faster than Qin Leng could. 444
- His comprehension of the technique later reached a level described as near perfection. 706
- The Cloud Dao Body enabled him to retain cultivation-based energy circulation even after resurrection and memory loss. 429
Spiritual Sight
Spiritual Sight, also called the Eye of Truth, is an ability inherited from Bai Ye's Yin-Yang form.
- Perceives a target's material body and soul body directly. 430
- Revealed Long Sui's outwardly human form to possess a grotesque, corrupted soul. 430
Grand Corridor
The Grand Corridor is Bai Ye's spatial containment capability, activated through a protective talisman.
- Divides and swallows a region of space, creating an independent small world. 375
- Its interior ignores external rules, allowing Fourth- and Fifth-Tier entities to remain without being expelled to the Inner World. 376
- Bai Ye used it to draw opponents into an isolated battlefield. 375
Meme Influence
Bai Ye possesses a meme capable of replacing a victim's consciousness after they hear its triggering words.
- Victims become subject to Bai Ye's commands, even entering containment willingly. 515
- During the anti-Bai Ye uprising, he ordered the use of Sequence η011 for global meme brainwashing. 342
Origin Skills
- Infinite Rotation — A Ninth Tier Origin Skill that swaps Bai Ye's body with another's. An opponent attacking Bai Ye after the exchange risks destroying their own body instead. 638
- Heavenly Demon Path — A Tenth Tier Origin Skill derived from the Indestructible Lost Soul. It sacrifices souls to strengthen the body and attack souls directly. 638 639
- Indestructible Lost Soul — A Resurrected Soul derivative potion that grants Bai Ye an immortal soul, allowing him to use Heavenly Demon Path without conventional self-destruction. 639
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Tiger Talisman — Split into two pendants; once balanced the Ten Heavenly Stems' Yin-Yang fusion and later served to suppress Bai Ye's completed Taiji power. 354 376
- Mirror Flower Water Moon — A containment object that creates a reflected avatar with Bai Ye's abilities and pseudo-immortality; the mirror breaks if the projection is killed. 374
- Yin Yang Sword — A black-and-white, double-sided sword form taken by Sequence 086: Biological Weapon when wielded by Bai Ye. 710
- Indestructible Lost Soul potion — Grants his soul immortality and supports his Heavenly Demon Path cultivation. 639
Relationships
- Qin Leng — Mentor and predecessor as O5 Council chief; selected Bai Ye as successor, supported his leadership, and arranged his meeting with Tang Yan despite knowing it would seal Bai Ye's doom. 326 333 444
- Tang Yan — Former Future Diary holder whose prophecy shaped Bai Ye's fear of death; Tang Yan knew of Bai Ye's death plan, and Bai Ye's soul later killed him to erase a witness. 328 383
- Meng Qing — Former Nine-Tailed Fox member and recurring adversary who helped lead the campaign against Bai Ye; later travelled with Bai Ye and Qin Leng in the universe. 376 382 706
- Yang Lin — Primary opponent during Bai Ye's downfall; Bai Ye believed Yang Lin was connected to his fated death and ultimately killed him through deception involving Mirror Flower Water Moon. 374 375
- Yi Jing — Killed Bai Ye within the Refine Spirit Space and extracted his Taiji; Bai Ye later overwhelmed Yi Jing in the Divine Treasure. 379 628
- Jiang Chen — Helped resurrect Bai Ye through the Resurrected Soul, attempted to control him through a loyalty imprint, and was later outmaneuvered when Bai Ye severed their mental link. 428 431
- Dragon God — Opponent in the Divine Treasure; Bai Ye used Infinite Rotation to swap bodies with him. 638
- Chen Mo — Reunited with Bai Ye on the Dragon Transformation Continent; Bai Ye offered cultivation guidance and brought him hawthorn preserves as a gift. 706
- Chen Ye — Used Bai Ye as a pawn in a trap against Ao Zuo; Bai Ye later joined Qin Leng and Meng Qing in confronting Chen Ye. 434 735
Story Role / Major Arcs
O5 Succession and the Era of Bai Ye
Bai Ye succeeded Qin Leng as O5 Council chief and took command of the Nine-Tailed Fox. He established authority through brutality, used forbidden containment objects at the cost of more than 210,000 lives, infiltrated Chaos, and obtained its core data. 326 331 333
Under his leadership, the Nine-Tailed Fox nearly destroyed both Chaos and the Hand of the Serpent. His seven-month campaign forced the Hand's leaders into hiding and pushed some toward surrender. 335
War Against the Sequences
Bai Ye's rule provoked a global anti-Bai Ye movement led in part by Sequence 009. He responded with planned meme brainwashing, then faced a coalition of Sequences including the Queen Bee, Night King, Yang Lin, Meng Qing, and Yi Jing. 342 372
During the battle, Bai Ye discarded the Tiger Talisman, unveiled Fourth Tier Taiji, and overwhelmed opponents who had believed him to be only Third Tier. 376
Yi Jing eventually trapped the exhausted Bai Ye in the Refine Spirit Space, killed him, and extracted his Taiji power. 379
Resurrected Soul and the God-Selection Game
Jiang Chen and Soul-Replaced Bai Ye restored Bai Ye as 069-1 through the Resurrected Soul. The revived Bai Ye retained his former powers, gained immortality, and initially served as the undead army's vanguard while struggling against imposed control. 428 429
Bai Ye exploited conflicting orders from Jiang Chen and the Lost Souls, severed his mental link and loyalty imprint, consumed a compatible Resurrected Soul derivative potion, and evolved beyond his status as a Lost Soul Dependent. 430 431 432
He was ultimately intercepted and killed by Ao Zuo, whose power exceeded the world's limits. Chen Ye later revealed that Bai Ye had been used as a pawn to lure Ao Zuo into the trap. 434 435
Divine Treasure and Later Activities
Bai Ye later acted as guardian of the Divine Treasure, where he defeated Yi Jing and fought the Dragon God with high-level Origin Skills. 628 637 638
After resigning from the guardianship role, he travelled with Qin Leng and Meng Qing, reunited with Chen Mo on the Dragon Transformation Continent, and offered cultivation assistance. 653 706
