Background

Tang San was formerly an outer disciple of the Tang Sect. He stole its inner-sect techniques, assassinated sixteen experts, and leapt from a cliff after being discovered; he later transmigrated to the Douluo Continent. He retains the Tang Sect’s major arts, hidden-weapon knowledge, and the conviction that he is a genius destined to become the Sea God. 12

At Shrek Academy, Tang San initially enjoys the ordinary bickering and companionship of the Shrek Seven Devils. When Han Li, Xiao Yan, Shi Hao, and Wang Lin fall into the academy’s orbit, he is the first to offer them help and repeatedly attempts to introduce, guide, and befriend them. When Xiao Wu says she is leaving to die, Tang San mistakes the statement for an imminent suicide. He loses control of his Blue Silver Grass and covers the academy entrance in vines while repeatedly demanding that she be resurrected; Xiao Wu later returns unharmed after eating apples. 8

The behavior continues when Xiao Wu suffers minor inconveniences, including a mosquito bite. Tang San acknowledges that he has a psychological issue regarding her safety. 25

Defeat by the Four Monsters

Unable to bear being called weak and useless, Tang San challenges Han Li, Xiao Yan, Shi Hao, and Wang Lin in succession. Han Li binds him, Xiao Yan burns through his hidden weapons and punches him away, Shi Hao defeats his Purple Demon Eye with instinctive physical combat, and Wang Lin crushes him with fear through the Heavenly Inverse Bead. 12

Attempts to Follow Shi Hao’s Path

After witnessing Shi Hao defeat Dai Mubai through physical dominance and combat instinct, Tang San challenges Zhu Zhuqing to a no-soul-skill physical spar. He is repeatedly kicked down and realizes that Shi Hao’s path cannot simply be copied. 15

Failure Against Dai Mubai

Tang San uses his full range of techniques against Dai Mubai, including Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, Mysterious Jade Hand, Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon, and the Eight Spider Lances. Dai Mubai breaks the lances and decisively defeats him. Tang San then resolves to prioritize foundational training over his inherited techniques and external tools. 17
