Background / History

Haotian went to Zixiao Palace to complain about the Heavenly Court's shortage of personnel, helping trigger the gathering that foretold the coming Investiture of the Gods. He expected the calamity to provide the Heavenly Court with three hundred and sixty-five Orthodox Gods and the Eight Departments of Immortals, finally giving it the personnel needed to govern the Three Realms effectively. 1 7

Before the Jie Sect's withdrawal, Haotian underestimated how much of the Heavenly Court's day-to-day stability depended on Jie Sect disciples. Their work covered Sea Eyes, star-node patrols, water veins, demon suppression, lower-realm patrols, and escorts for Heavenly Court officials. 8

Personality

Haotian is proud and deeply conscious of the dignity of his office. He resents being pressured into personally requesting assistance from Golden Turtle Island, viewing this as a loss of face for the Heavenly Emperor. 8 14 16

He is also pragmatic when disaster leaves him no alternative. Despite his anger at Zhao Xuan's conditions, he ultimately prioritizes the East Sea's safety and authorizes a formal petition for Qingxiaozi to guard the Third Sea Eye. 16 19

The loss of Jie Sect assistance causes simultaneous failures: the Third Sea Eye enters crisis, North Star Domain nodes shift, evil cultivators cause unrest, water veins destabilize, and overseas cultivator conflicts escalate. The Chan Sect refuses to intervene due to seclusion, while the Western Sect offers preaching rather than practical help. 10

Qingxiaozi and the Third Sea Eye

After Water Department general Xuan Lang reports the Qingxiaozi affair dishonestly, Haotian initially responds by dispatching Taibai Jinxing with a decree asserting the Heavenly Court's authority. 12 13
