Background / History
Tang Wulin was born to Tang San but was sent to the lower realm and raised by adoptive parents, Tang Ziran and his wife. He initially considers himself an ordinary child from an ordinary family, despite possessing unusual physical strength and a ten-year spirit ring. 16 18 54
At Eastsea Academy, he becomes deeply impressed by Leng Hanyuan after the Spirit Transmission Pagoda Grand Elder begins teaching his class. Leng’s status, power, and occasional guidance replace Wu Zhangkong as Tang Wulin’s primary ideal for strength. 16 18 19
Leng informs him that a dangerous foreign power has been forcibly sealed inside his body. Frightened by the possibility of death, Tang Wulin comes to rely heavily on Leng’s promised help. 18
During meditation, Tang Wulin discovers the Golden Dragon King within himself and encounters Tang San’s residual divine consciousness, “Old Tang.” He learns that eighteen seals suppress the Golden Dragon King and that failing to open the first seal within half a year would kill him. He trusts Leng’s assessment over Old Tang’s guidance. 21
Leng lends him the means to obtain the three items required for the first seal. Tang Wulin endures the absorption process and successfully unlocks it, but Old Tang offers him no practical aid; this further elevates Leng in Tang Wulin’s eyes. 22 23
Appearance
Tang Wulin is described as a handsome boy with eyes “as beautiful as a girl’s.” As his Golden Dragon King bloodline develops, golden traits become increasingly visible in combat. 18 61 86
- Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul user. 53 61
- Possesses a ten-year spirit ring early in his studies, which draws unusual looks from others. 28
- Blue Silver Grass gains faint golden coloration and exceptional toughness through his bloodline. 61
- His partially awakened Golden Dragon Claw transforms his fingers and forearm into scaled dragon anatomy. 86
Personality
Tang Wulin is diligent, grateful, and highly responsive to mentorship. He is willing to take responsibility alongside Xie Xie when confronted by Guang Biao’s men, and he repeatedly seeks stronger instruction in both soul master cultivation and forging. 24 103
His admiration for Leng Hanyuan becomes intense loyalty. Tang credits Leng with helping him survive the first Golden Dragon King seal and views the Grand Elder as more dependable than Old Tang or Wu Zhangkong. This loyalty shapes his choice to seek membership in the Spirit Transmission Pagoda rather than the Tang Sect. 22 23 27 53 54
He is persistent to the point of fixation in his desire to become Leng Hanyuan’s disciple. Over three years, he repeatedly challenges Gu Yue—despite the overwhelming difference in their cultivation—because he believes himself more suitable to be Leng’s student. 61 62
Abilities & Skills
Golden Dragon King Bloodline
The sealed Golden Dragon King bloodline grants Tang Wulin unusual physical capabilities but threatens his life whenever its seals become unstable or require release. 18 21

- Produces innate superhuman strength and changes to his soul spirit, Golden Scale. 18
- Its first seal unlocks after he absorbs three spirit items. 22 23
- Lets a Blue Silver Grass user fight with traits comparable to a dragon-type Martial Soul user. 53
- Can manifest a partially awakened Golden Dragon Claw. 86
- The power is dangerous: failure to unlock seals on time can result in death. 21
Blue Silver Grass
Tang Wulin’s Martial Soul is Blue Silver Grass, strengthened by the Golden Dragon King bloodline. 53 61
- First Soul Skill: Bind — launches numerous Blue Silver vines to restrain opponents and cut off routes of escape. 61
- Can briefly hold off the initial attack of a ten-thousand-year Scarlet Flame Lion King. 91
- The vines possess unusual golden luster and toughness, though Gu Yue can destroy them with a single defensive technique. 61
Forging
Tang Wulin works part-time as a blacksmith and studies forging under multiple masters. 22 103
