Background and History

East Sea City operations

The Tang Sect maintained an industrial park in East Sea City, where Class Zero underwent its second assessment through one-on-one combat trials. The site’s simulated opponents included amplified versions of the Shrek Seven Devils from ten thousand years earlier. 67 69

The sect’s simulations were not historically faithful. Although they were publicly presented as possessing seventy percent of the original Seven Devils’ strength, their displayed abilities had been deliberately magnified to showcase the Tang Sect’s prestige. 69

Tang Sect and Spirit Pagoda officials in East Sea City had conflicts at higher levels, but their lower-ranking members generally avoided escalating disputes and looked after one another to some extent. 39

Recruitment efforts

Students who passed the first stage of the Tang Sect trial were offered membership. Most accepted the opportunity because affiliation with one of the four great organizations promised substantial benefits for future development; Na’er also joined the Tang Sect. 69 70

Wu Zhangkong personally offered Chen Ye the highest level of Tang Sect treatment after Chen Ye defeated the simulated Huo Yuhao. Chen Ye declined, choosing to remain with the Spirit Pagoda. 69

Technological crisis and siege

Chen Ye ordered the Song Family to manufacture Golden Mechas and attack the Spirit Pagoda and Holy Spirit Cult while using the Tang Sect’s name and insignia. 111

After the Tang Sect’s Level 12 fixed soul ammunition became known, the Federal Council classified the sect as treasonous and enacted the highest state of alert. The Federation considered the sect’s ability to stably produce such weapons unacceptable, particularly because Shrek City’s location could theoretically threaten Ming Capital. 131 135

Federation and War God Temple forces besieged Shrek City and assaulted the Tang Sect headquarters. Black mechas broke through its protective barrier, penetrated underground sectors, captured personnel and researchers, and destroyed buildings and portions of its core data. 134 135

The assault failed to capture the sect’s foremost researchers, including Ling Zichen and the four pillar scientists. A contingency plan evacuated core personnel and data aboard an ocean liner before the headquarters fell. 135 136

Aftermath

Following the headquarters’ destruction, the Federation publicized fabricated accusations and officially branded the Tang Sect a cult. Strongholds across the continent either dissolved and fled or were seized by Federation mechs, while regional Tang Sect forces organized resistance that inflicted heavy losses on local Federation troops. 136

The sect later concealed itself while intensifying technological research. Together with Shrek Academy, it joined the Star Luo Empire, contributing to the empire’s increased military strength and improved quality of soul masters. 175
