Background

Transmigration and the original host

Cheng Xuyuan, a man from Earth, transmigrated into the body of Uchiha Gen. Although they shared one body, Gen later concludes that their souls, chakra, and Mangekyō Sharingan are distinct; he regards himself and the original Gen as a peculiar kind of twin. 1 47

The original host’s existence became central to Gen’s pursuit of greater power. He had Orochimaru resurrect the original Gen through Impure World Reincarnation, absorbed his Mangekyō ocular power, and ultimately destroyed the original host’s soul and body through Soul Purification. 54 56 115

Early actions in Konoha

Gen initially served in Konoha’s Uchiha Police Force, but his priorities quickly shifted toward self-preservation and accumulating ocular power. He hypnotized nearly the entire Uchiha clan and absorbed their ocular power, deliberately avoiding Mikoto and Itachi because they were under Fugaku’s protection. 1 2

During the Nine-Tails Rebellion, he deployed a full-body Susanoo against the masked attacker. He later claimed to have subdued the Nine-Tails himself, establishing his reputation as Konoha’s strongest Uchiha. 3 24

Dojutsu Transfer plan

Gen disclosed Divine Grace to Fugaku and proposed an ocular-power exchange system: clan members could deposit excess power, purchase more through Gen, and use the reserves to fuel Izanagi. He charged a service fee while presenting the system as a way to increase the Uchiha clan’s survival rate and long-term strength. 12

He later expanded the scheme into the sale and lottery distribution of Three-Tomoe Sharingan and Izanagi access to powerful Konoha figures. His stated purpose was to bind influential outsiders to Uchiha interests while preventing Konoha’s leadership from stealing Sharingan through covert methods. 13 23

Conflict with Konoha’s leadership

Gen openly defied Hiruzen Sarutobi, Danzō Shimura, Homura Mitokado, and Koharu Utatane upon returning from Sunagakure. He exposed their involvement in the White Fang incident and allowed them to believe his Mangekyō granted precognition. 10 25

Namikaze Minato attempted to appoint him Anbu Chief, hoping to balance the elders’ influence and secure Uchiha support. Gen refused because he did not want a political or administrative position. 16

When Hiruzen later believed Gen’s Mangekyō had failed, Gen used the apparent weakness as cover while testing his Jōgan. Hiruzen’s assassination plan collapsed after Minato refused to support it. 110 111

Land of Snow

Gen encountered Koyuki Kazahana while considering an alternative future for the Uchiha clan outside Konoha. He later became the Land of Snow’s Daimyō alongside Koyuki, with Koyuki handling state affairs and Gen overseeing Hidden Snow Village. 35 123

He used the Land of Snow as an independent power base, developed its military infrastructure, revived members of the Kaguya clan, and cultivated a personal faction separate from Konoha’s authority. 126 162 199

Appearance

Gen generally wears the Uchiha clan’s high-collared uniform marked with the clan crest. 11

When activating Ten-Tails Jinchūriki Mode, his clothing is replaced by a chakra-formed sage robe, two small horns emerge from his forehead, and two Truth-Seeking Orbs orbit him. 173

  • Five-pointed star Mangekyō Sharingan pattern. 11
  • Can manifest an immense Susanoo, including a form described as larger than Mount Everest. 47 75
  • Maintains a separate physical Secondary Body for ocular transplants and independent operations. 116 117

Personality

Gen is calculating, irreverent, and openly contemptuous of authorities he considers hypocritical or weak. He refuses to perform deference for Konoha’s elders, yet carefully avoids provoking conflicts that would endanger his clan or unfinished projects. 10 47

He prioritizes personal freedom and leisure over formal power. Despite being offered the Anbu Chief position, he rejects the role as unwanted work and spends much of his free time recreating games through Genjutsu. 11 16

His pursuit of strength is pragmatic and frequently ruthless. He treats ocular power, forbidden techniques, revived bodies, and political alliances as resources, while maintaining contingency plans such as Izanagi, soul projection, secondary vessels, and the Land of Snow. 12 47 115 117

Abilities & Skills

Mangekyō Sharingan

Gen awakened a Mangekyō Sharingan shortly after transmigrating and developed two named ocular techniques: Divine Grace and Tsukuyomi. 1 12

  • His raw ocular power can overwhelm targets regardless of ordinary genjutsu aptitude. 36
  • He deliberately obscures the exact nature of his eyes, encouraging enemies to misidentify his knowledge as future sight. 10 25
  • His Mangekyō was later removed to strengthen the Jōgan, though Divine Grace was retained for use through a Secondary Body. 110 117

Divine Grace

Divine Grace absorbs, stores, and transfers ocular power between individuals. It is the foundation of Gen’s Dojutsu Transfer business and his ability to construct miniature Ten-Tails. 12 173

  • Absorbed more than 10,000 points of ocular power from Uchiha Sasuke alone. 2
  • Harvested ocular power from Uchiha and Hyuga clan members through hypnosis and infiltration. 2 101
  • Transfers ocular power to strengthen allies such as Fugaku and fund Izanagi use. 12 23
  • Created a miniature Ten-Tails from a Ten-Tails fragment. 173

Tsukuyomi / Limitless Tsukuyomi

Gen’s Tsukuyomi creates an illusionary world in which touch and pain are perceived as real. He can drastically alter subjective time within the illusion. 8 75

  • Spent seventy-two hours with Pakura inside an illusion during a brief real-world interval. 8
  • Used Tsukuyomi to defeat Kirigakure elite jōnin and Anbu during Pakura’s rescue. 45
  • Used large-scale genjutsu against Hiruzen, confronting him with illusions of Danzō, Homura, and Tobirama. 114
  • Its effectiveness scales with ocular power; Gen claims a ten-million-magnitude Tsukuyomi can instantly kill ordinary opponents. 47

Susanoo

Gen can manifest a full-body Susanoo of exceptional scale and strength. 3 24

  • Deflected the masked attacker’s Wood Style during the Nine-Tails Rebellion. 3
  • Can produce a form taller than Mount Everest, though he avoids doing so because it would expose his power to the entire world. 47
  • Manifested an even larger Susanoo inside Tsukuyomi to intimidate Yukie Fujikaze. 75

Izanagi

Gen relies on Izanagi as both a personal safeguard and a commercial service for the Uchiha clan. 2 12

  • Pre-sets Izanagi before using dangerous soul-projection techniques. 21
  • Calculates one activation at approximately 3,000 ocular-power points. 12
  • Combined Izanagi with One’s Own Life Reincarnation to resurrect the original host. 115
  • Uses repeated death and revival to compensate for his poor aptitude when learning difficult techniques. 60

Spirit Transformation Technique

After mastering the forbidden Spirit Transformation Technique, Gen can separate his soul from his body and travel immense distances. 21

  • Flew from Konoha to Sunagakure in less than the time needed to drink tea. 21
  • Uses soul perception to locate chakra signatures. 21
  • Can possess and directly control another person’s body. 21
  • Uses his projected state to create plausible deniability for movements outside Konoha. 46

Jōgan and Secondary Body

Gen removed his Mangekyō to cultivate the Jōgan, then transferred the Jōgan into a Secondary Body for continued development. 110 170

  • Initially kept his weakened state secret from Fugaku and most of Konoha. 110
  • Uses the Secondary Body as an ocular-technique platform and independent operative. 116 117
  • Equipped the Secondary Body with Jōgan and Uchiha Momonosuke’s Mangekyō Sharingan. 170 171

One’s Own Life Reincarnation and Impure World Reincarnation

Gen pursued Chiyo’s One’s Own Life Reincarnation to overcome death and support his long-term experiments. 21 22

  • Used One’s Own Life Reincarnation with Izanagi to restore life without accepting ordinary risks. 115
  • Revived thirty-nine Kaguya children in the Land of Snow. 162
  • Worked with Orochimaru to use Impure World Reincarnation on the original Uchiha Gen and later considered reviving Uchiha ancestors. 54 249

Ten-Tails Jinchūriki Mode

Gen created and sealed a miniature Ten-Tails within himself, attaining a miniature version of Ten-Tails Jinchūriki power. 173

  • Generates a chakra sage robe, horns, and two Truth-Seeking Orbs. 173
  • Can cultivate additional miniature Ten-Tails for allies, including Tsunade and Kurenai. 173 180
  • His later strength is regarded as beyond Super Kage level and comparable to Six Paths-tier power. 259

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Secondary Body — A physical clone-like vessel used for independent action and repeated eye transplants. 116 117
  • Flying Raijin Technique notes — Received from Minato alongside the Flying Raijin Technique scroll after recovering Konoha’s stolen Byakugan. 92
  • Advanced Chakra Armor — Hidden Snow Village developed Super Kage-level advanced armor under Gen’s administration, though only one hundred sets existed at the time. 210

Relationships

  • Pakura Uchiha — Gen’s wife and the mother of Uchiha Kinyuan. Their relationship began in Sunagakure, survived Pakura’s betrayal by her village, and led to her registration under Gen’s Konoha household. 8 45 46 180 199
  • Kurenai Yuhi — Gen’s partner and trusted medical-ninjutsu assistant. She performs his eye surgeries and later becomes a Little Ten-Tails Jinchūriki through his plans. 37 117 170 180
  • Uchiha Fugaku — Clan head, political collaborator, and purchaser of Gen’s ocular-power services. Fugaku supports the Dojutsu Transfer plan but remains wary of Gen’s secrets. 12 13 180
  • Uchiha Itachi — Younger clansman who calls him “Senior Gen.” Gen alternates between indifference, teasing, and using Itachi’s potential in clan plans. 11 23 82
  • Namikaze Minato — Fourth Hokage and intermittent ally. Minato values Gen’s strength, but their relationship is strained by Gen’s disregard for Konoha procedure and politics. 16 46 92
  • Orochimaru — Forbidden-technique collaborator, later a controlled secondary vessel. Gen trades future knowledge to Orochimaru, uses his expertise for resurrection experiments, and repeatedly coerces him into compliance. 54 115 187
  • Kazahana Koyuki — Queen of the Land of Snow and Gen’s co-Daimyō. Koyuki handles state affairs while Gen directs Hidden Snow Village. 35 123
  • Tsunade — Ally in the miniature Ten-Tails project. She witnesses Gen’s transformation and receives a miniature Ten-Tails cultivated by him. 173
  • Natsu Hyuga — Member of Gen’s faction and Tenseigan wielder. By Chapter 165, she has surpassed him in raw power by reaching the Six Paths level. 165 209
  • Kaguya Yuki — Loyal subordinate who addresses Gen as “Boss” and uses Flying Raijin to travel with him. 199 209
  • Uchiha Gen (original host) — The body’s original owner. Gen resurrected him to obtain his Mangekyō ocular power, then eliminated him as a future vulnerability. 47 56 115

Story Role / Major Arcs

Nine-Tails Rebellion and Uchiha consolidation

Sunagakure alliance and Pakura

He assists Minato’s Sunagakure mission, lies about Sasori’s involvement in the Third Kazekage’s death, and helps secure One’s Own Life Reincarnation for Kushina. He subsequently forms a relationship with Pakura, rescues her from Kirigakure after Sunagakure betrays her, and brings her to Konoha. 8 9 21 22 45 46

Konoha power struggle

Gen repeatedly humiliates Konoha’s elders, rejects formal office, and turns their uncertainty over his supposed precognition into a deterrent. When Hiruzen attempts to exploit Gen’s apparent blindness, Gen uses the confrontation to eliminate the immediate threat and expand his control over Orochimaru. 10 16 110 115

Land of Snow ascension

After becoming Koyuki’s co-Daimyō, Gen turns the Land of Snow into an independent Uchiha-aligned power base. He establishes Hidden Snow Village, revives Kaguya survivors, and begins developing chakra armor and other military assets. 123 126 162 210

Six Paths pursuit

Gen rejects unreliable paths to Six Paths power, experiments with the original host’s Mangekyō, cultivates the Jōgan through a Secondary Body, and gathers rare ocular power. He eventually creates a miniature Ten-Tails and becomes its Jinchūriki. 47 56 110 170 173

Reshaping the shinobi world

With the Sarutobi leadership broken and Orochimaru under his influence, Gen seeks to reshape Konoha and strengthen the Land of Snow rather than become Hokage. He later turns toward reviving Uchiha ancestors and positions his faction as a force able to deter Akatsuki and Rinnegan users. 187 189 249 259

Trivia

  • Gen is not officially registered as a Konoha ninja despite serving in the Uchiha Police Force and possessing immense combat power. This technicality helps enable his succession as Land of Snow Daimyō. 123 128
  • He recreates games from his former Earth life through Genjutsu, including Honor of Kings, Peace Elite, and Genshin Impact. 11
  • His public claim of Mangekyō precognition is a deliberate cover for knowledge carried over from his past life. 25 53
