Background / History
Vegeta first senses that the balance of the universe is changing and identifies unusual auras resembling those of Gods of Destruction. Concerned that the gods are targeting Sun Wukong, he intensifies his training and begins investigating the phenomenon. 1 2
In his private laboratory, Vegeta finds references to the Seed of Divine Wrath, an ancient power said to provoke anger and destructive urges even in the strongest beings. Unable to trace an anonymous warning about it, he leaves Wukong a message and travels alone into the universe to investigate. 2
On a desolate planet, Vegeta discovers a warning that the Seed can turn powerful warriors uncontrollable. Mosco’s envoy attacks him before he can report his findings; during their battle, Vegeta becomes the Seed’s first test subject. Wukong arrives to intervene, but Vegeta loses control and attacks him until Wukong suppresses the Seed’s influence. 3 4
Vegeta later travels to the Heart of the Universe and confronts the Seed’s consciousness directly. Instead of resisting it as pure evil, he understands it as a destructive force within the universe’s balance and gains initial control over it. 7
Appearance
Vegeta is a Saiyan warrior whose appearance changes markedly when channeling the Seed of Divine Wrath and Ultra Ego.
- In Seed-empowered states, he emits violent red, scarlet, deep-purple, or purple-black energy. 13 19 20
- During his Seed-empowered Ultra Ego, his hair and eyes can become deep purple. 30
- When fully overwhelmed by dark energy, he is surrounded by black mist and has red-glowing eyes. 48
- His uncontrolled Ultra Ego state enlarges his muscles, lengthens his hair slightly, and manifests a deep-purple domain around him. 20
Personality
Vegeta is intensely proud, competitive, and unwilling to concede that Sun Wukong has surpassed him. He remains determined to grow stronger regardless of how much Wukong trains, placing particular confidence in the Seed of Divine Wrath. 31
Despite his pride, he increasingly acts from responsibility rather than self-interest. He investigates the Gods of Destruction’s conspiracy to protect the universe, seeks the Seed’s power to protect his family, and remains on Earth when Wukong leaves because someone must defend it. 2 8 43
His anger toward the Gods of Destruction is severe after Earth and its inhabitants are destroyed. He advocates stealing a Time Ring to pursue Vermoud, struggles to forgive Beerus, and repeatedly seeks vengeance for those lost. 21 22 32
Abilities & Skills
Seed of Divine Wrath
An ancient destructive power embedded within Vegeta. It grants immense energy but repeatedly threatens to override his will through the consciousness of Zalama.
- Awakens anger, destructive urges, and extreme combat power. 3 4
- Can continually supply Vegeta with energy, granting him effectively inexhaustible stamina in battle. 42
- Contains the power of a God of Destruction and can erase targets through the command “Destroy.” 24 30
- Initially causes violent loss of control and attacks on allies. 4 20 48
- Zalama can attempt to use Vegeta as a vessel for rebirth; the Grand Priest’s seal suppresses this influence rather than eliminating it. 40
Ultra Ego
Vegeta’s highest documented transformation, enhanced by the Seed of Divine Wrath.
- Its Seed-enhanced state is described as scarlet and comparable to a fallen god. 19
- In an uncontrolled state, it develops into a deep-purple form capable of generating a spatially warping domain. 20
- Vegeta uses it at full strength against Baal after absorbing the Seed’s power. 42
Destruction Power
Vegeta can channel the destructive aspect of the Seed against enemies and objects.
- Erases Cumber before the latter can complete his transformation. 30
- His power is stated to exceed Vermoud’s when wielded through Vegito. 24
- His Seed-derived destruction can disintegrate targets rather than simply cut them apart. 24 30
