Background / History

Before the current Grand Priest's appointment, Zalama—described as a previous Grand Priest—attempted to assassinate Grand Zeno to obtain authority. Grand Zeno discovered the plot in time, but Zalama could not be defeated outright and was sealed within the Seed of Divine Wrath. At that time, Grand Zeno possessed a powerful, adult-like form rather than his present childlike appearance. 27

In the present, Grand Zeno is deeply concerned with the Seed of Divine Wrath after learning that Vegeta carries it. He recognizes the prophecy connected to the Seed and relies on the Grand Priest to explain Zalama's history and reinforce the seal within Vegeta. 27

Appearance

Grand Zeno is consistently described as having a childlike appearance. He previously possessed a much stronger form with a physique similar to Sun Wukong and Vegeta's, but cannot currently transform without his two guards being present. 27

His affection for Wukong strongly shapes his judgment. He accepts Vegito's killing of Vermoud after learning that the Gods of Destruction destroyed Wukong's home, and he repeatedly prioritizes Earth's safety because it is Wukong's home. 25 45

Despite his innocence, Grand Zeno can become cold and severe when Wukong or Vegeta are harmed. He punishes Beerus, erases him after refusing to heed Wukong's initial objection, and threatens the remaining Gods of Destruction over their release of the Seed of Divine Wrath. 26

Vermoud's Death and the Gods of Destruction's Punishment

Grand Zeno contacts Vegito after Vermoud's death, reveals that Whis had already reported the destruction of Wukong's home, and refuses to blame Vegito for killing Vermoud. He invites Wukong to Grand Zeno's Palace instead. 25

At the palace, Grand Zeno punishes Beerus and moves to erase all remaining Gods of Destruction for releasing the Seed of Divine Wrath. Wukong persuades him to spare them, leading Grand Zeno to order their replacement and removal of their divine power. 26

Revelation of Zalama

Grand Zeno identifies Vegeta as the Seed of Divine Wrath's vessel and raises the subject of an old prophecy. The Grand Priest then reveals that the Seed contains Zalama, Grand Zeno's former would-be assassin. 27

After Baal's defeat, Grand Zeno has already begun arranging a new selection for Universe 7's God of Destruction before Goku can report the incident. He watches the competition with Goku and ultimately recognizes Jing Qi as the winner. 43 45
