Background / History

Beerus ordered Frieza to exterminate the Saiyans, leaving only a small number of survivors. He also sealed the Old Supreme Kai inside the Supreme Kai Sword after being offended by him. 140 143

While Beerus slept, Roger entered his dream to challenge him. Beerus initially dismissed the Saiyan challenger, then became interested when Roger used Super Saiyan forms, Time Stop, and the Gravity Law. Beerus overwhelmingly injured Roger, but Roger froze time and escaped the dream through Instant Transmission. 60 61

After a long sleep, Beerus awakened because exploding hourglasses disturbed him. He remembered having a prophetic dream about fighting a powerful god, though he could not recall the god's identity.
