Background / History

Kizaru was promoted to Admiral less than half a year before his first appearance at age forty-five. Alongside Admiral Red Fist, he was regarded as one of Marine Headquarters' “twin heroes,” whose rise overshadowed Aokiji's prior acclaim. 38

He confronted Norse near Long Ring Long Land, first attacking with a light-speed kick. After detecting Golden Lion Shiki's Flying Pirate ship, Kizaru entered the island's forest to claim Shiki's life and the associated merit for himself. His initial strike cut Red Pipi's tail and split the tree to which Shiki was bound, but Norse intervened. 38 39 40

Kizaru later fought Norse directly, firing laser beams and using a Glint Kick. Norse evaded the beams with Observation Haki, shattered the kick with an Armament Haki-coated punch, and injured Kizaru badly enough to force the Marine withdrawal. 43

During the later Marine operation against the Kuja Pirates, Kizaru ambushed and captured Boa Hancock with Sea-Prism Stone cuffs. He was subsequently dispatched by Fleet Admiral Sengoku as aerial reinforcement in Alabasta and later proposed joining Akainu against Norse. 87 109 122

After Norse's sea-restaurant banquet, Kizaru pursued the Hornet Pirates for remaining in the New World without authorization. He overwhelmed their Mythical Zoan captain with light-speed attacks and Yasakani no Magatama, then continued the confrontation when Norse challenged his actions within Norse's territory. 150 151

In their rematch, Kizaru used elementalization, Observation Haki, and an Armament Haki-hardened light sword against Norse's Infinite Sword Formation and Solar Gravity. Norse caught him, severed both of his legs, and immediately restored them with healing power. Kizaru then admitted he served Dragon's Revolutionary Army, acknowledged Norse's superiority, and agreed to pay 100 million Beli for facial healing. 151 152
