Background / History

Fugaku served as the Uchiha Clan Head during a period of growing resentment toward Konoha. He sought to restrain the clan’s hawkish faction, led by Uchiha Setsuna, fearing that open rebellion would bring irreversible destruction upon the Uchiha. 2

His caution was informed by his Mangekyo Sharingan: its future glimpses showed him that an Uchiha coup would end in the clan’s destruction. Rather than reveal his eyes or lead a rebellion, he repeatedly chose compromise, a decision that left many clansmen dissatisfied. 6 19

After Uchiha Mirai returned from three years of seclusion, Fugaku opposed Mirai’s proposed abolition of the Police Force, full combat readiness, and immediate training of the clan’s youth. Mirai then challenged his leadership directly. 3 4

Succession Crisis
