Background

Mirai and Uchiha Shisui were classmates and were regarded as the two strongest geniuses of their generation within the Uchiha Clan. While Shisui was celebrated during their academy years, Mirai initially appeared unremarkable and often spoke to him about subjects Shisui found incomprehensible. 1 49

During the Third Shinobi World War, Mirai rose to prominence through a strange poisonous kekkei genkai. His poison earned him the name Calamity Uchiha; enemy shinobi feared it so deeply that survivors were rumored to mutate after exposure. Alongside Namikaze Minato, he became one of only two Konoha shinobi feared across the other great villages. 1 3

On the eve of the Fourth Hokage's inauguration, Konoha's leadership spread fears that Mirai endangered the village and forcibly stripped him of his position. He did not resist, knowing resistance would validate the rumors and needing time to develop the Godzilla power within his body. He then spent three years in seclusion. 2

Mirai re-emerged amid the Uchiha Clan's internal crisis. After publicly challenging Fugaku's leadership and revealing that he had awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan on the night of his fall from grace, he secured Fugaku's concession and became clan head. 3 6 7

Mirai is exceptionally handsome, combining the Uchiha's characteristic dashing appearance and aloof pride with a distinctive presence that makes him seem separated from those around him. 143

Despite his ruthless methods, Mirai is invested in the Uchiha Clan's future. He identifies the younger generation as the clan's “sparks,” trains them, improves their Sharingan through controlled radiation exposure, and entrusts major responsibilities to Itachi. 9 13 88
