Background / History

Shisui and Uchiha Mirai were classmates during their student years and were regarded as the two strongest geniuses of their generation. Shisui was an acclaimed Academy prodigy, while his battlefield exploits against Kirigakure and Kumogakure earned him the name Shisui of the Body Flicker. 1 49

At the beginning of the story, Shisui still believed in the Will of Fire and sought Mirai's help to reconcile the widening rift between Konoha and the Uchiha. His position was sharply challenged by Itachi, whose outlook had already been shaped by Mirai. 1

Following Mirai's return and takeover of the clan, Shisui supported the reformists, helped select young Uchiha for special training, and increasingly accepted Mirai as the person capable of changing the clan's future. 4 9 11

Although Sarutobi Hiruzen considered him an ANBU informant within the Uchiha Clan, Shisui secretly reported to Mirai and carefully maintained the appearance of resentment toward the clan. He concealed his Mangekyo Sharingan from the Hokage's faction, making Hiruzen believe Shisui remained a valuable asset. 11 47

Personality

Shisui initially approached the Uchiha crisis with idealism, genuinely believing that the Will of Fire could reconcile the village and clan. His faith made him vulnerable to Hiruzen's manipulation and drew criticism from both Mirai and Itachi. 1 11

Under Mirai's guidance, he becomes more politically aware and pragmatic. He learns to conceal information, play the role of a dissatisfied informant, and use Konoha's trust in him against its leadership. 11 47 50

Despite his growing ruthlessness, Shisui remains cautious about harming others and is uneasy with the risks of Kotoamatsukami. He refuses to assassinate Mirai even when Danzo orders him to do so. 48
