Background / History

The compound is the Uchiha Clan's communal home and political center. Major clan decisions are convened at the Naka Shrine; a meeting there signifies that the clan faces an important matter 2.

After three years of seclusion, Uchiha Mirai returned to the Naka Shrine and challenged Uchiha Fugaku for leadership. The compound became the center of the clan's internal succession struggle, as the younger generation assembled behind Mirai and Fugaku ultimately relinquished the position of clan head 3 4 6.

Under Mirai's leadership, the compound underwent a top-down restructuring. Most clansmen accepted the changes, while a small number of diehards were removed. Young Uchiha were selected and trained as the clan's future, and the former clan head's residence became Mirai's home 9.
