Background / History

At nine, Itachi is already closely attached to Uchiha Mirai. During Mirai's three-year seclusion, he regularly brings tea, massages him, and attends to him. Mirai's teachings reshape Itachi's worldview, turning him against Shisui's “Will of Fire” beliefs and toward prioritizing the Uchiha Clan over the Hokage. 1 2

When Mirai challenges Fugaku for leadership of the Uchiha Clan, Itachi supports his brother's vision rather than his father's authority. He later serves as Mirai's attendant and greets Sarutobi Hiruzen coldly during the Hokage's visit to the clan compound, having come to view Hiruzen as a hypocrite exploiting the Uchiha. 4 9
