Background / History
Dai Mubai is a son of Emperor Dai Tianfeng and a rival of his elder brother, Dai Weisi, in the struggle to succeed him. He and Zhu Zhuqing previously defeated Dai Weisi and Zhu Zhuyun with a stronger Hell White Tiger fusion, but Dai Weisi later regained a chance to compete for the crown prince’s position 347 421 463.
As captain of Shrek Academy’s tournament team, Dai Mubai fought Yu Tianxin after Xiao Wu’s match. He lost despite pushing Yu Tianxin hard enough to draw blood. In the finals against Martial Soul Hall Academy, he chose to surrender when Shrek could no longer win without risking further injuries 71 91.
Dai Tianfeng later sent Dai Mubai to Gengxin City to seek Grace Hall’s support for his succession. He repeatedly tried to reach its master and spent a month cultivating a connection with its elder Qiuniu, but failed to discuss cooperation 391 421 435.
During the Star Crown Clan’s attack on the Star Luo imperial palace, Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing fought to reach Dai Tianfeng. Both were severely injured and withdrew to await healing. While Dai Mubai was being treated, Sky Dream Ice Silkworm destroyed his soul with a spiritual attack. Those nearby did not immediately realize he had died 467 471 474.
Personality
Dai Mubai is proud and quick to answer insults with a fight. His determination kept him battling Yu Tianxin despite mounting injuries; later, Yan’s provocation made him argue that Shrek should defend its reputation rather than follow Tang San’s cautious advice. He can also set personal grievances aside when reminded of his duty as captain 71 81 82.
He values loyalty to his companions. During the fighting at the imperial palace, he refused to fly away with Zhu Zhuqing while the guards they had brought would be left behind. Politics and diplomacy are weaker points: Dai Tianfeng doubts his political aptitude, and Dai Mubai needs substantial help from Tang San and Flender in his conversations with Qiuniu 347 427 469.
