Background / History

Origin

The AllSpark's true origin was obscured by legend for much of Cybertronian history. One account attributed it to the Elder Council and its thirteen powerful members, who allegedly agreed that the Decepticons would possess the first AllSpark while the Autobots retained its controls 74.

Information later decoded from a fragment identified the AllSpark as an artificial relic created by Megatronus. He used the Requiem Blaster and the Star Harvester to destroy a dying star, imitating the Matrix of Leadership in the AllSpark's construction 575 795. Megatronus also copied part of his own informational data into it, enabling the relic to absorb electromagnetic information and improve itself 575.

That copied data carried Megatronus's violent, arrogant nature. Mechanical life created through the AllSpark consequently became chaotic, aggressive Decepticons rather than neutral Cybertronians 575 795.

Loss and Arrival on Earth

The AllSpark was once held and extensively studied by the Decepticon Corps. Their scientists used its unique fluctuations as the basis for later Core research after the relic was lost 254 258.

During the Cybertronian Civil War, combat affected the AllSpark and activated hidden control measures placed within it by Megatronus. It was sent through space toward Earth, a world Megatronus had previously discovered and colonized 575.

The United States eventually recovered the relic and concealed it beneath Hoover Dam in Sector Seven's heavily guarded “Pandora's Box” laboratory. The facility used lead shielding and electromagnetic interference zones to contain its effects on nearby electronics 45 70.

Hoover Dam and the Battle of Las Vegas

Sun Cheng located the AllSpark beneath Hoover Dam after his Core reacted violently to its energy signature 44. Upon touching it, he absorbed energy and information sufficient to evolve his Spy Template into a Level 3 Enhanced Spy-Type Spark 45 46.

Onslaught later reached the relic and began a far more extensive evolution, but Bumblebee interrupted the process during the Sector Seven battle 70 73. Bumblebee subsequently used Autobot control methods to compress the fifteen-meter cube into a transportable form and place it into dormancy 73 79.

During the Battle of Las Vegas, Sam forced the compacted AllSpark into Megatron's Spark. The collision destroyed Megatron's Spark and shattered the AllSpark into fragments 431 452.

Appearance

In its intact state, the AllSpark was an enormous cube approximately fifteen meters in length, width, and height. It emitted faint energy ripples and deep-blue electrical arcs when activated or touched 45 73.

• Its surface could discharge blue arcs that entered and modified a Cybertronian body 45 70.
• Autobots could fold its numerous cubic sections inward, shrinking it to roughly the size of a packing box 73.

Fragments can activate dormant Sparks, revive critically damaged Cybertronians, or provide a powerful new body's initial life force.

• During such activations, fragments are strongly drawn toward the target Spark and may attempt to merge with it 461.
