Background / History

Xu Xiaoyan was born into the Xu Family, one of Eastsea City's foremost families. Her father served as the city's chief financial officer. Unlike her stubborn older brother Xu Xiaoyu, Xiaoyan was gentle, timid, and heavily doted upon by the family's elders. Although she possessed full innate soul power, the family did not force her to cultivate because Xu Xiaoyu was already considered the family's principal talent 48.

Three years after her awakening, an internal family assessment revealed that she had naturally reached Rank 17. More significantly, she awakened the Star Wheel phenomenon—the first occurrence of the Xu Family's legendary mutated martial soul in several centuries—which caused her family to begin taking her potential seriously 48.

She first encountered Xiling in the rampage-period Spirit Ascension Platform. Frightened by his reputation and appearance after he defeated the Ice Staff youth protecting her, she immediately used her rescue device to flee 46.
