Background

Gu Yue enters Eastsea Academy after registration has closed and requests an opportunity to prove herself. Wu Zhangkong has her fight Xiling for admission; although Xiling defeats her, her command of wind, fire, water, earth, and light earns her a place in Class Five. She publicly identifies her Martial Soul as the Elemental Envoy, capable of controlling six elements but unable to attach soul rings to any of them. 18 19

Her true identity is the human manifestation of the Silver Dragon King. She carries seventy percent of the Silver Dragon King's origin power, while Na'er carries the remaining thirty percent as a separate personality. Gu Yue and Na'er make a wager over whom Xiling will choose; however, Xiling exposes that Na'er's incomplete origin cannot sustain a permanent separation and is ultimately destined to return. 23

After Xiling reveals that the Golden Dragon King's essence is sealed within Tang Wulin, Gu Yue agrees to cooperate with him rather than seize it immediately. She confirms that the Golden Dragon King's origin cannot safely replace her own without the Dragon God's Heart. 23 24 In Dragon Valley, the golden and silver cores form the true Dragon God's Heart, while the complete Golden Dragon King's bloodline is sealed into a dark-red cube held by Gu Yue. 72

Gu Yue becomes Leng Yaozhu's disciple alongside Xiling. 57 Following the changes brought about by Dragon Valley, she returns with silver hair and violet eyes. 74 75 Years later, the five great ferocious beasts kneel before her in the Star Dou Forest, acknowledging her authority. Gu Yue initially appears as a delicate, pretty girl of about nine with long black hair, black eyes, and an unusually composed temperament. 18 After Dragon Valley, her appearance changes dramatically: she has snow-white silver hair, cool violet eyes, and an ethereal, noble presence that makes strangers reluctant to approach. 74

Gu Yue is initially guarded, secretive, and unsettled by Xiling's ability to see through her disguise. Once he reveals that he knows her identity and the wager with Na'er, she abandons hostility in favor of cooperation, recognizing both the danger he poses and his determination to save Na'er. 20 23

In battle, she is composed and highly strategic. She controls multiple elements in linked attacks, uses terrain and sight obstruction to restrict opponents, and retreats rather than confronting enemies she cannot defeat directly. 18 19 41 Her increasing attachment to Xiling also makes her direct, jealous, and competitive with Na'er and Bella. 46 73 128

As the acknowledged leader of the soul beasts, Gu Yue is willing to put the race's revival before her personal desires. Her plans to teach soul beasts human secondary professions reflect a pragmatic willingness to learn from humanity's strengths. 139 140
